Magic!

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 12:00 pm

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the warm, sunny, gorgeous island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Friday afternoon, the 31st day of May, 2013, a very summer like day, as opposed to the cool spring we have thus experienced, right here in the hub of it all on this little sand bar created 11,500 years ago by the Last Great Ice Age–Cape Cod’s own Hyannis, adjacent, of course to Hyannis Port, where the great Kennedy family lived and thrived, helping a nation grow and prosper as best they could.  Hope you all had a nice Memorial Day week end, for the Figawi sail boat race that goes over to the fair island of aforementioned Nantucket every year at this ‘time’, went off without a hint of fear, save the weather that day, as it was cold and blustery, I’m not sure who won, but in the end, does it really matter?  Not much to add else at present, save this.  I pray you all have an opportunity to “unplug” your televisions, Ipads, and constant noise of the world this summer and just enjoy the simple pleasure of being alive, for I can tell you from real experience, it will, even if for one day, it will change your life forever.  My summer reading list will be my topic for the next few rounds, so here is my first pick, “The POWER of NOW”, by Eckart Tolley, a book that may be hard to fathom… but it is as true as rain. Have a great week end folks and please come on down and visit US, we will, as always, leave the LIGHT on for ya!  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M

In Memoriam…

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 11:11 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the foggy, soon to be thunderous island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this 23rd day of May, 2013, a nice Thursday morning to be sure, as WE all here on this little sand bar created 11,500 years ago by the Last Great Ice Age get ready for the summer, a summer that kicks off this week end with what WE here in the United States call “Memorial Day”… a day of remembrance and reflection for many different things that have affected all of our lives, from war to poverty, social injustice and peace that may still be found if WE look hard enough for it.  The lives that were taken in said wars over the years has not gone unnoticed, for the service those brave men and women will not go unforgotten.  So too is the sacrifice made by some of our great leaders over those same years, such as U.S President’s John F. Kennedy, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Teddy Roosevelt, and great social activist and moral leader Martin Luther King Jr.–among many others whose names and souls will be etched upon our collective hearts forever.  So, in recognition of them and to those who still suffer in this great nation of OURS, I salute you ALL, for no matter how ‘big’ you think you are, in the end, WE are all one, ONE nation under GOD, with LIBERTY and JUSTICE for ALL. Have a great week end folks and please come on down and visit someday, we will, as always, “Leave the LIGHT on for YA!”… PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M

A mother’s Love…

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 9:26 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the cool, rainy island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this 12th day of May, 2013, Mother’s Day and to all of the moms out there, may your day be filled with the LOVE you deserve!  Here on Cape Cod, Hyannis/Hyannis Port to be specific. It is a thundery day with quite a bit of rain, hopefully not spoiling mom’s plans, as I am sure she would like to be out in the garden planting flowers, but rain is good luck so perhaps mom will enjoy some sunny days ahead soon.  To my own mother, Jan, I wish to extend the same aforementioned wishes and all the BEST, and to tell her she is a great person to put up with a goof ball like me.  Same goes for my sister Melissa, my fiance Patty, Beverly, Janet, Stephanie and Debbie, who may not have any kids of her own, but cares for them like a mother would and does with little Markey and Lauren.  To Michelle Obama, a Happy Mother’s Day as well, for she has done an extraordinary job raising two young ladies in a fish bowl on steroids, called of course, The White House.  So please enjoy the day and stay dry, for the flowers will be out there in full bloom soon enough.  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M

Fog Island…

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 10:27 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the once again, rather foggy, misty island of Nantucket, seasonal temperatures included! Great to be with you on this 9th day of May, 2013, a nice cool day here on the ‘mainland’, via Hyannis and Hyannis Port, where, of course, the great Kennedy family hails from.  John F. Kennedy, our former 35th President of the United States, his beautiful wife Jackie, his brothers Bobby and Teddy, his sister Eunice and the rest of that fabled family, who changed this world forever–if you really read your history.  As I mentioned before, I have ‘unplugged’ not only the phone, but the television as well–for the moment.  The reason why is simple, to take a step back from the madness of war, the insanity of our political ’situation’ in this country and the never ending corporate news cycle (save MSNBC and PBS) that seems to miss the mark every time when it comes to why WE are really all here, and that, of course, is to LOVE one another.  The fog you SEA above you represents that metaphor I speak of, however, one can gain clarity if one is so inclined.  Food for thought, Cape Cod style and should you wish to visit this little sand bar created 11,500 years ago by the Last Great Ice Age, well I say Kudos to you and yours, for you will not be disappointed.  Have a great Thursday folks and may ‘the force be with you’…PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M

Art imitating Life and Life imitating art…

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 10:20 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the foggy, cool island of Nantucket! Great to be with you once again on this Tuesday morning, roughly 10 a.m. eastern, the 7th day of May, 2013.  As the summer gets closer by the day, we here at seacapecod.net, overlooking the Steamship Authority and the big ships that carry visitors to the area over to said great islands of Nantucket and MV, wish to extend our great thanks for your patronage and hope you all have a great time on this little sand bar created 11,500 years ago by the Last Great Ice Age.  A few years ago, I was honored to be part of Adam Sandler’s very funny movie called “That’s my boy”, starring aforementioned actor and comedian of SNL fame, Tony Orlando, Leighton Meester, James Caan, Susan Sarandon, Will Forte, Andy Sandberg, Vanilla Ice among many others when the film was shot in my old hometown of Osterville, Massachusetts in the summer of 2011.  The reason I bring this up is to not only to promote the work, but to bring some LOVE to a new radio station on Nantucket called 97.7 ACK FM, where the great DJ’s, Sandy, Kate and D.C., are bringing back to life old movie clips from yesteryear, such as “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”, staring the incomparable Mathew Broderick, when he famously stated, “…Life moves pretty fast, if you don’t stop and take a look around every once in a while, you might just miss it.” I don’t know about you, but that sounds like good advice to me, for the corporate news cycles will continue unabated, the wars will come and go and politics will always be tainted in this country by bad decisions by the Supreme Court such as “Citizens United” of 2010, pouring millions into Ads that only bring deception and disarray.  Leaving one to postulate, ‘ get me off this crazy thing Jane!’ Food for thought as you and yours take in a movie this summer, or even better, come on down to the Cape and Islands for some Lobster, ice cream and a cool drink, for there is no better place on earth to visit–and, as always, WE will leave the LIGHT on for YA! Have a great day and please tune in tomorrow, same bat time, same bat channel.  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M
