One Light, ONE SPIRIT, One Love, One Boston, ONE NATION!

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 1:42 pm

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the once again, gorgeous, sunny, rather cool island of Nantucket! Great to be with you once again, as always, on this  Wednesday, the 18th day of April, 2013, a day that will go down in history as a wake up call for all who believe in LOVE, LIGHT and FROGS.  Please allow me to explain…  Today, only a few moments ago, there was a vigil, a service at the “Old South Church”, the church of the Holy Cross, in Boston, where dignitaries, such as OUR great President Barack Obama along with his wonderful, lovely wife and FIRST LADY, Michelle Obama, and OUR Governor Deval Patrick, who attended said gathering of like souls to come to grips with a horrible terrorist act, once again, on OUR soil–the Boston bombing that took place on Monday afternoon during the running of that city’s running, the 117th running, of the Boston Marathon, on “Patriot’s Day”, a day set aside for those in this fair city I was privileged to live in to commemorated the battle of “Lexington and Concord”, the fire of spirit that began that Revolutionary War of the latter part of the 18th century, a battle for freedom from tyranny, terrorism and tears of old…  I was moved by the priests, rabbis and other people of the cloth, not to mention Boston’s great mayor, Mr. Thomas Menino, who gave the world what WE ALL know to be the TRUTH–BOSTON ROCKS!  It is the birth place of this “concept” of democracy that WE all hold dear.  Coming on the heals of the shame filled actions of the U.S. Senate on Tuesday of this week,  a grouping of so called leaders who shot down, so to speak, the simple concept of background checks on individuals attempting to purchase guns in the never ending NRA born loophole of gun shows and this same Internet you are reading right now.  Pity that.  However, as Joe Scarborough stated on “Morning Joe”, only on MSNBC (mornings, 6 a.m.- 9a.m., eastern) only a few moments ago, a I paraphrase only slightly–’…perhaps they cannot SEA the lies and cowardice that exists in both parties, because they only want to hold onto their precious seats in that sacred institution and are afraid of the NRA’s extreme money making lobby. President Obama gave an impassioned speech yesterday to that FACT and we will SEA in 2014, for 90 percent of the American People cannot be wrong, nor can their will be thwarted.  May God’s LOVE, LIGHT and SPIRIT be with the victims as well as the great people of Boston, not to mention the victims and families of New Town, Connecticut, and may we ALL thank those first responders, who make this statement from the movie “Starman” a reality, (a movie starring Jeff Bridges and Karen Allen, circa 1984), when he said to the official checking out his “alien” status, “…..do you want me to tell you what I love the most about your species?”.  “….You are at your best when things are at their worst”. Have a blessed Wednesday and take care.  And remember that the acts of Love and the spirit of Forgiveness are Paramount to US ALL, for that is the very BEST WE CAN DO!  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M

Stand by me…

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the beautiful, sunny, temperate island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this 15th day of April, 2013, and I wish you all a happy ‘tax day’, especially those paying 15 percent!  The road has been long, in this great nation of OURS, only 239 years ago young.  A nation that was born under some premises that were divinely inspired, divine intervention if you will.  WE all know what is at stake here…Lawyers, guns and money, just ask D.C. he’ll tell YA!  For I, nor anyone with a sound mind, will deny that a nation that has more guns than people is a powder keg waiting to explode.  And for what?  So that we can keep this private “military industrial complex” running at full tilt, i.e. the NRA, yes, allowing gun runners to keep allowing killers to roam free with automatic weapons that murder our most innocent citizens, such as the children of New Town, Connecticut, just to make a buck?  It reminds me of the horrible tar sands of that Keystone pipeline nightmare project out of Alberta, Canada, or the “Halliburton Loophole” of Dick Cheney’s former company, where he opened up the flood gates to FRACKING–please visit HBO’s great documentary “GAS LAND”–for ‘natural gas’, poisoning our air and water for centuries to come, or the big oil companies, who spill 500 million gallons of crude into the Gulf of Mexico, i.e. bp oil, equally destroying that region perhaps for the next millennium.  Yes sir, oil and gas companies who get a break from ‘Uncle Sam’, via various tax loopholes you could drive a Mack truck through (corporate welfare), all because the republican party’s so called leaders, via Senators and Representatives, are basically pimps (credit Bill Maher of the great HBO show on Friday nights called “REAL TIME”) for said special interest groups.  Groups whose only interest is making money, not the 99 percent of the AMERICAN PEOPLE!  If we wish to be a nation of so called “Christians”, then should WE not ALL step up to the plate and do the right thing?  This world is getting warmer by the hour, and that hour will soon come where sustainability and the life we once knew, such as here on Cape Cod and virtually every other coastal community will succumb to the rising SEAS, droughts and stronger storms.  Food for thought folks, for to deny 90 percent of this nation’s people, i.e., their will, and RIGHT to vote on matters such as gun control, immigration reform, a fair tax code and the real civil rights of people who may love differently than you, is to take a big step back into the dark ages of intolerance, bigotry and BLIND HYPOCRISY!    Have a nice day folks and keep it tuned to the only station, i.e. seacapecod.net, that lives by the motto of “…what you do to the least of me, you do unto me.”  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M

Tulip Power!

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the once again, seasonably reasonable, sunny, gorgeous and rather breezy island of Nantucket! Great to be with you and yours on this April the second, 2013, a Tuesday morning to be sure and I wish you a fair adieu.  I watched a movie, the other day, what a shocker, that struck me as one of the year’s top picks for a “life time achievement award” from the directive forces of the Oscars…food for thought for next year ladies and gentlemen!  It is an old movie, if you are 18 or so, but to us rather middle aged folks, it is as true as yesterday, bringing those aforementioned people back to who they really are.  Not only does it make social statements that are true today in politics, religion and money in general, the only ‘issues’ that seem to sway the media these days, but it rings true to what is really going on in this old world of OURS–all of us, not just Americans.  I quote the great author T.S. Elliot, “We shall not cease exploring, and at the end of our exploration, we shall return to where we started and KNOW the place for the first time…”. The movie in question is still haunting me, for there have been so many that meet this marker.  A great man once said, “WE WILL BECOME LIKE CHILDREN AGAIN.”  I believe that to be true.  For it is finding that movie, book, play, song, picture or work of art for oneself that WE actually get in touch with our most inner and authentic selves and by doing so, as the great German philosopher Maslow once said in his ‘hierarchy of needs’, that action supersedes even the air we breath, the food we eat or the water we drink.  That ‘need’ is that need for self actualization, finding your own voice, knowing, rather than being told what to know, what is right and what is most clearly wrong, is the key to true contentment and happiness.  One movie I could throw out there would be “Out of Africa”, starring of course the greats’ Merrill Streep and Robert Redford.  A film produced in 1985 in and about the Sahara of Kenya, on the continent of Africa, a place I was honored to visit when only an impressionable 17 year old kid, circa 1980.  I saw the giant African Elephants, the Leopard and her cubs, the great Lions, the Alligators, the Hippos, the Cheetah, Apes of all sizes and shapes, the Gazelles, the Zebras, the Rhino, the Cape Buffalo and the seemingly billions of birds living on Lake Victoria…  Quite an experience on Safari I can assure you.  What those 18 days in the Masai game reserve as well as Samburu, not to mention Tanzania, gave to me personally is that ‘knowing-ness’ that WE are all interconnected, that our actions, words and indeed thoughts can be used as either weapons or for the sake of LOVE–the real reason we are ALL here to begin with.  It was a bitter sweet movie, as the struggle for independence, war and a love affair brought everything into focus, regarding the single minded ‘connection theory… and as the players on the stage of art imitated life, the movie brings emotions that one may never have given a second thought to, but are the emotions and heart that drive the vehicle that IS your soul. I pray that you might pick it up someday, for nature and this world may depend upon your discretion to this most pressing matter at hand as the world continues to warm– those precious animals, including the Polar Bear, disappearing from the world forever.  Pity that!  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M

April Fool’s Day Blizzard!

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 1:48 pm

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the frigid, blizzard like conditions on the fair island of Nantucket!  I kid, of course, being this “April Fool’s Day”, April the first, 2013, or every day in Washington D.C..  Yes, in actuality, that wonderful island thirty miles out to SEA from my deck here on Hyannis Harbor is experiencing seasonal temperatures, bright blue skies and a complete melting of the snow we here in this little hamlet received over the course of the winter.  Yes, spring is in the air and I wish you a belated Happy Easter and Passover, hoping you all got a visit from the Easter Bunny.  What can I tell you, other than it is more of the same horsehocky going on in our nation’s Capitol, where issues such as LGBT rights, i.e., marriage equality, the never ending insanity of the gun lobby, i.e., the NRA, who goes on shooting down proposals to eliminate the sale of assault rifles and almost limitless magazine clips, leaving the world wondering, “…who are these guys?”, and why are they controlling the argument in the House of Representatives? (credit Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, circa 1969, starring, of course the late, great Paul Newman and the equally fine Robert Redford).  Yes, couple all of that with the ongoing lack of clarity and common sense on the immigration issue, that will be forefront in 2016, assuming the republicans want a shot at winning anything in the near future.  It seems they are determined, by way of the recent “CPAC” convention to shoot themselves in the foot, a convention that snubbed good men like Chris Christie (Republican Governor of the great state of New Jersey), opting instead to put clowns like Donald “the duck” Trump and Sarah Palin on the national stage once again, yikes!  So on this day of jokes, let us be forever in their debt… those crazy kids from the far right extreme, many in bed with big corporate dollars that attempt to hijack this great nation that was founded, no joke here, on the principals of mercy, compassion, honor, truthfulness, equality and Justice for ALL.  Have a wonderful day folks and steer clear of those wooden nickles thrown about by FOX “News”, side effects include, but are no limited to, nausea, brain damage, loss of appetite, swelling of the ankles or feet, or number of other woes you don’t even want to know about. PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M
