Are you feeling Lucky?

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 11:41 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the sunny, gorgeous island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this last day of August, the 31st day of said month, 2012, a Friday, and wow, what a great day for America!  WE all got to watch one of my old pals, Clint Eastwood, speak at the RNC convention, as ‘ole Mitt gave his acceptance speech, yes, Clint talking to an empty chair on stage (pretending to be speaking to OUR very fine President of this here United States of America, Barack Obama), who will, God willing, be re-elected to a second term, snuffing out the nonsense thrown out by a republican party that LIES to it’s own, stealing their collective wallets, as they “help” them look for that wallet.  Give me a break. Are you feeling lucky, well are ya punk?  I know the answer to that one.  Do they? Assuming, and I hate to assume, that these Crossroads/GPS knuckleheads, via Karl Rove and the rest of the republican strategists, don’t pull a fast one, via the voter suppression problem in over 34 states, WE will SEA a new dawn and hopefully some of that HOPE and CHANGE that Obama has striven for more than any President since FDRFranklin Delano Roosevelt. Have a wonderful weekend, on this blue moon evening, and when looking up at that full moon perhaps remembering that wooden nickles are worth nothing, save for collectors that don’t even collect them anymore.  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Blue Moon

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the sunny, breezy, temperate island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Thursday afternoon, the 30th day of August, 2012, another beauty on Cape and the fantastic islands of MV and Nantucket.  The RNC is in full gear, and VP Paul Ryan made his speech filled with holes that would sink a boat.  First of all, the FACT is Paul Ryan’s speech, leading up to Mitt Romney’s big ‘talk’ tonight, was full of LIES. The Medicare claim was wrong, i.e. stating that President Barack Obama ‘raided’ that program to “pay for ‘Obamacare”, as not one senior lost any benefits in the savings of 716 billion dollars via cost savings from hospitals and doctors, not from the beneficiaries themselves.  This is not new, especially for this ‘not your grandfather’s GOP’, for as Seinfeld’s “George” once stated, “it’s not a LIE, if you believe it”. This is what the GOP hopes for, to lie and lie and lie and then lie some more, and if enough swing voters believe said LIES, therein lies, so to speak, their hope of winning the Executive.  Good Luck, you are going to need it. Have a nice day folks and keep remembering those simple little things called FACTS, and who is really on the side of the AMERICAN PEOPLE, all 311 million of US. PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M

Sixteen minutes…

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 12:37 pm

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the absolutely gorgeous, sunny, breezy, island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Wednesday, the 29th day of August, 2012, a stunner on Cape and the Islands… which is all about LOVE, respect that! I enjoyed, as I am sure you did, the RNC convention last night, as we await the headliners’ Mitt & Paul, to speak tonight…can’t wait, but in the meantime, let us talk about Chris Christie’s imaginative speech that did not bring up the republican nominee, Mitt Romney until well into his babble about himself and the great state of New Jersey until 16 minutes into said speech.  Keynote Speaker? Wow! I know it was about 2016 not about 2012, but heck, what do I know about LOVE or respect? I hope you are all having a great day and look forward to tonight, please tune in, for you will educate yourself, assuming you don’t fall for the famous talking points that mislead and lead one AWAY from the TRUTH, as Hurricane Issac bears down on Pass Christian, Mississippi–our prayers are with all of those folks in the Gulf and may WE begin to SEA the FACTS, not blinded by the ‘respect’ of LIES.   Have a great day folks!  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Diamonds on the souls of her shoes…

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the soon to be drenched with rain, windy island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this 28th day of August, 2012, a day of moisture here on the little fair island of Nantucket and the rest of this sand bar created 11,500 years ago by the Last Great Ice Age… Keeping an ever watchful eye to the sky, for even though this humble reporter disagrees with most, if not ALL, of this hijacked, via the fake grass roots ‘tea party’, yes, this new “not your grandfather’s GOP”, I must say, I pray they are safe from the storm called “Isaac”, bearing down on the panhandle of Florida and will most likely cause some headaches for my colleagues, such as Chris Mathews of “Hardball” fame, only on MSNBC, weeknights at 5 and seven, p.m. eastern standard–or at least I think of them, ALL of them, as so, covering said RNC event, with the ‘key note’ speaker, Mr. Chris Christie, Governor of the great state of New Jersey, speaking on behalf of Mitt Romney and his running mate Paul Ryan of Wisconsin.  Hopefully, he will keep his anger in check, if not, he can always consult Charlie Sheen, for he may be able to help out with that ‘anger management issue’…  So, when we SEA this all go down, tonight, tomorrow and beyond, well, just keep this in mind, and I speak from the immortal words of Paul Simon, and the lyrics of that extraordinary song, “Diamonds on the souls of her shoes”, perhaps we should remember what WE are fighting FOR, namely, FAIRNESS, FREEDOM and equality for ALL. The benchmark of this nation to begin with.  Last time I checked.  Please take cover New Orleans, Florida, and be safe amongst the gathering clouds, for they do not care about politics, nor do they care if you are democratic, republican.  Black, white, gay, straight, woman or man.  They are part of the greater good, that WILL eventually become part of all of US, namely the mother, yes, mother earth, this little blue rock WE all call ‘home’ for the ‘moment’… PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! A Rising Tide…

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the blue skied, party cloudy if you wish, windy island of Nantucket! Batten down the hatches as the saying goes!– for Hurricane Isaac is coming in full throttle, aiming, fortunately for the RNC convention, and I say that with all sincerity.  It is, as a soon to be category 2 storm, barreling at the pan handle of Florida, although, my thoughts and prayers are with them as well, take cover!  Yes, political season is well under way as that RNC convention, scheduled for the aforementioned city by the other bay was set to start today, bringing the likes of well, say a Donald, “Duck”, Trump in for good measure, or a Todd Akin (R-MO), no strike that from the record, he is no longer welcome here at “Bushwood” ( credit the late, great Ted Knight and his noble companions in the classic 1980 film, “Caddyshack”), no most likely it will be spent tomorrow on the wayward ways of this “not your grandfather’s GOP”, and their attempt, albeit a small one, to overtake the COMMON  SENSE of the 311 million of US who still live here.  Who is to say who is right or who is wrong, save this simple notion… would you TRUST a man who just stole your wallet to help you ‘look’ for it?  I doubt it.  Have a great Monday, on this 27th day of August, 2012, keeping an ever watchful eye to the sky, for the rain is a comin’ and the atmosphere does not pull any punches.  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M

Hyannis Port, U.S.A.

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the warm, inviting, sunny island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Friday morning, the 24th day of August, 2012, a nice day on Cape, as you can ’sea’ above with the image of the Hyannis Port Post Office sitting in the balance.  A tough day in New York City, and hats off to Mayor Bloomberg and NYPD Police Commissioner Ray Kelly and the NYPD officers who took out a situation that did not need to happen, for violence is never the answer.  Although not all the facts are in, this morning a 53 year old man opened fire on one of his former employers, and in the ensuing gun fight, 9 people were injured in the insanity of guns and it’s out of control issue of too many bullets, too little LOVE. Have a great day and weekend folks and remember to pray for those who have less than you–it will come back to you ten fold!    PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M

Show me!

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the clear, blue skied island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Thursday morning in August, the twenty-third day of this month, 2012, a day of grace and humility, as we look forward to what is going to happen next…  Hmmmm, I wonder what that will be?  Does anyone really know?  Take Tampa for example, and the upcoming RNC convention in Tampa, Florida scheduled for Monday night of next week.  Yes, that is right, summer is over and it is time to get down to brass tacks. There is no doubt that WE all feel the importance of keeping people, even those we disagree with, politically, or socially, safe in the eye of a hurricane that will most likely bring down rain and wind on a campaign that is already in big trouble.  On the same note, we can’t ignore FACTS and the TRUTH of what the republican party is going through right now in regard to Todd Akin, Senate candidate in the “show me state”, the great state of Missouri, going up against the great Claire McCaskill, incumbent democrat who will retain the Senate for the Democrats in this most pivotal election.  This ‘war against women’, a real deal, that the republican party is waging against history will not go unheard, nor will the voter suppression going on via this ‘not your grandfather’s GOP’ hijacking by the fake grass roots ‘tea party’ sponsored by Exxon-Mobile.  Not to mention the FACT that Mitt Romney’s pick for VP, Paul Ryan, congressman from Wisconsin, is tethered to cutting Medicare for millions of seniors and throw older Medicaid participants under the bus, ever keeping these folks out on a limb that will most likely break as Monday night comes on in a hurricane like force.  We shall SEA, won’t we?  So keep that ever watchful eye to the sky and remember what Teddy Kennedy once said, “when does the greed stop?” Have a nice day!  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Black Eyed Susans

Greetings and salutations from sun, and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the breezy, sunny, gorgeous island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Wednesday morning, ten a.m. eastern, the 22nd day of August, 2012, a day to be remembered as these lazy summer months ease on into the fall season and the month of September, a month, lest we forget, where the rubber meets the road, where the horse$hit ends and the speak of TRUTH begins. I am not sure about you, but this war, a real war on women and their reproductive rights that is under assault will not stand.  Nor will the question of real FAIRNESS, or the lack therein, regarding the U.S. tax code, continue to be ignored.  A nation, or so the ‘not your grandfather’s GOP’ believes, that “wishes” to be lead by a man who puts his money in foreign banks, i.e. Bermuda, the Cayman Islands and Switzerland, all while claiming to be a ‘man of the people’, you know a “job creator”, living in a fantasy world where the ‘trees are all the right height’, those that remain standing.  Perhaps he should revisit Michigan and his own roots, for it would be there where he may regain his soul and not try and pull the wool over the people’s eyes, black eyes, many of them, for they are hurting as they look for jobs that just are not there, for those jobs were outsourced a long time ago by ‘men’ like Mitt Romney who is seeking that highest office in the land, the Presidency of the United States of America, yes as a man with, and I quote Grover Norquist (please Google that name), “someone with enough digits that he can sign what the plutocratic establishment wishes for this nation, a nation, under God, or Exxon-Mobile rather–Indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all…assuming you are in the .001 percent.” His real intentions paraphrased for poetic JUSTICE.  Have a nice day and remember to educate yourself–your brother, your mother, your sister, and your daughter, for it is this election that will determine OUR worth and compass as a nation, a nation that was FOUNDED upon one principal--FREEDOM From tyranny… PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Freedom 2.0, or 3.0…?

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 11:46 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the partly cloud, or, if you prefer, partly sunny island of Nantucket!  Great to be with you on the 21st day of August, 2012, a Tuesday to be sure, however, it is still warm and beautiful on the shores of Cotuit, ‘where the ocean meets the wood’, and should you dare, please visit our three wonderful beaches, “Ropes”, “Loop”, or “he called me an Orangutan, he thinks I’m his wife” “Oregon Beach” (credit the late, great Rodney Dangerfield for that classic line via the 1980 film “Caddyshack”, also starring of course, his ‘nemesis’, Ted Knight , who played “Judge Smails” and captain of the ‘Flying Wasp’… Yes, here we are, listening to old Akin’s stories about what the House of Representatives have done in their tenure serving this nation, setting up bills to put a road block upon a woman and her own body.  Well, sir, apologies don’t cut the mustard and if you want ‘forgiveness’, I suggest you change your ways, and set aside the horse$hit.  Aside from all of that nonsense, I am sure we are all getting pretty near the end of this political campaign, one of division, one of deceit and one of “voter fraud”.  Of course, the only ‘voter fraud’ comes in the form of the Supreme Court and it’s folly in passing “Citizens United”, a move that has turned this country against itself, against it’s OWN best interest, via the corporate owned airwaves that flood our consciousness on a daily basis–present company excluded.  I pray that you all take a good hard look at the FACTS and ignore the the empty rhetoric coming from an empty suit, a suit designed in Switzerland, a suit, by definition, that has nothing to do with you or yours in a country that was founded on immigration, be it Irish, English, Swedish or Chinese, for who are WE to judge where we ALL came from, or where WE are going?  Have a good one and be safe out there, keeping an ever watchful eye to the skies, for hurricane season is upon us and this world is gaining water by the second.  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Hypocrisy 101.

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the cool, misty island of Nantucket!  Great to be with you on this 20th day of August, 2012, a day of record, a Monday, where the horse$hit is flying by the truckload in the politics of this U.S. of A., as we await ‘ole Mitt and Paul to spew their normal town hall garbage that holds NO WATER, save the fracking fluid of 596 deadly chemicals via Exxon-Mobile and friends, not to be confused with “FOX & friends” work on profit over people, via the ‘natural gas industry’…, pulling the wool over 311 million people’s eyes everyday…,  (please GOOGLE HBO’s “Gas Land”, a must SEA).  However, as WE all know about the voter suppression “work” by the Crossroads/GPS, via Karl Rove, and his pal Frank Luntz–well, the gloves, again, are OFF! I will not talk about this on an early Monday morning, save this, please tune into “Politics Nation”, via the great Reverend Al Sharpton of MSNBC (6 p.m. eastern standard weeknights), as well as many other organizations, for his words ARE the TRUTH and if you don’t believe me take a good hard look at that granite statue of another Reverend, Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr., who spoke Al’s words, walked his, Martin’s, walk and took the final shot that took his life away from him.  I ask you one simple question in this amazing year of EXPOSURE–’who are you?’,–what do you really stand for?’, and further, where do you want OUR kids, ALL of them, where they want to BE in the future?  There is something to be said by a real JOKE called Rudy Giuliani, who is bad mouthing the great VP of this nation, Joseph Biden, who spoke his mind regarding this insane debate over what is right and what is wrong.  For seniors will be the one to be hurt, God forbid, if these CLOWNS gain the Executive of the United States of America and destroy Medicare, Medicaid and the safeguards that keep our water, air and SEAS alive and well.   Get registered, speak your right, as an AMERICAN, namely, the right to VOTE!  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the incredibly sunny , beautiful day on the grand island Nantucket! Great to be with you on this 17th day of August, 2012, and what can I tell you?  This is of course the fantastic weekend of more political spin–spin, spin and more spin… the whole point of the ride, right? Mitt? If you have ever been to Disneyland, perhaps you may remember “Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride”, a fun ride to be sure, however with all of the twists and turns inherent in said ride, a ride I highly recommend by the way, well, one may be wise to not eat all of the high fructose that surrounds most of our food products today, thus avoiding the product altogether.  So, have a great week end folks and remember this–this land was born on ONE simple IDEA, or two–Liberty and Freedom for ALL. p.s. be nice to the ‘little things’ in this world, for you are as much a part of ‘them’, as they you. A Road to Nowhere…

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 10:26 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the wonderfully cool, breezy, sunny island of Nantucket! After a deluge of rain overnight, thunder and lightening thrown in with no extra charge, the Cape and the Islands are sparkling today with a refreshing northwesterly breeze flowing in from the Canadian Maritime, or at least I think that is where it is emanating from–as this Thursday, the 16th day of August, 2012,  is shaping up to be a good example of why you and yours should come on down and visit US, for WE will, as always, ‘leave the LIGHT on for ya!’… The politics of nasty continue on in this most important Presidential election scheduled for November 6th, 2012, a contest pitting Mitt Romney against our fine President Barack Obama who has done more to take this country forward than any President since Franklin Delano Roosevelt. The stakes could not be higher, as Medicare, and more importantly, at least in the short term, Medicaid are on the ‘not your grandfather’s GOP’ chopping block, not to mention gutting regulations for the big polluters out there, i.e. Exxon-Mobile and their fracking for profit model of attaining natural gas via 596 deadly chemicals no one knows about, just ask the good folks of Rifle, Colorado, they’ll tell ya!    For there is no doubt that to take more tax breaks from those who can most afford them, in order to ‘balance the budget’, or deficit rather, a deficit, by the way, that was a hangover from the previous administration, is simply insane.  Or immoral, take your pick.  For how can one be a true ‘Catholic’, or ‘Christian’, and snub the words of the man they claim to follow, Jesus himself, when he said these simple words over 2000 years ago… “what you do to the least of me, you do unto me…”.  I don’t know, but I do know one thing for sure, the American public is not stupid, nor will they fall for these voter ID bogey men antics, for that is 2000 Bush V. Gore all over again….  Back to the Future?  Hopefully, we have gone above and beyond that nonsense.  Have a wonderful day and SEA you here tomorrow, same bat time, same bat channel! PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M

An American Classic

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the sunny, beautiful island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Tuesday morning, the fourteenth day of August, 2012, another stunner on Cape and the Islands, and as we all wind down our summer fun and all get ready for the change of seasons that happen in New England every year I am reminded of my own gratitude for living in such a wonderful part of this grand nation.  Every year, and every season, brings new life, new hope to whatever or whoever you are, be it rich, be it poor, be it black, be it white, or be it a young man with an Indian head dress during this 2012 Cotuit, ‘where the ocean meets the wood’, July 4th Parade.  Yes a ‘traditional’ Indian head dress in the background to a classic, an American classic motor vehicle–the 1962 Shelby Cobra–made, of course by the great Ford Motor Company out of Detroit, Michigan.  There are so many items on the agenda today that it is difficult to keep them all straight, save this–in this pivotal upcoming election on November the sixth, 2012, where the choice between the candidates is so clear, ask yourself a simple question, this question, and perhaps this only…who is for the PEOPLE and who is for the PROFIT? Have a nice day and we will, God willing, SEA you here tomorrow, same bat time, same bat channel! PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M

“…the next President of the United States.”

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 11:41 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the wonderfully beautiful, sunny, temperate, perfect summer day on the fair island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Monday morning, the 13th day of August, 2012, around the 11 a.m. hour, a day to take in if you like all that this little sand bar created 11,500 years ago, by “THE LAST GREAT ICE AGE”, offers.  Be it biking, walking, running, swimming, kayaking, sailing, golf, or long walks in the numerous National Parks, i.e. the Cape Cod National Seashore” (and local parks), created, by the way, by the a real republican President, our 26th, Theodore Roosevelt (1901-1909).  A President of this great country before WE all seemed to have lost our way in the early 1980’s of this past century, where greed and the ‘lust for money’ overtook OUR better ANGELS, our common sense and common purpose as a nation in general.  The choice come November 6th, of this year, is quite clear, for Mitt and Paul will tell you their ‘vision’ will create 12 million jobs, help seniors and women, children, the middle class and the poor. Do you really believe that? President Barack Obama, and our 45th President of this great land, has already PROVED that he will, did, could and will continue to do so.  The other choice, i.e. Paul Ryan’s budget (please Google for details just for your own edification) …well just does not any hold water, save some “natural gas fracking fluid”… I know it is only a Monday, so I won’t bombard you with all of the relevant FACTS regarding said “Ryan budget”, save this–their plan is to give more money to those who have made it in this country with no intention of giving anything back to it, not all certainly, but a vast majority of them.  Job creation?    Mitt, really? Are you for real or just another game show host that will soon be a memory in the annuls of ‘time’?  The gloves ARE off and I want all of those skeptics out their to KNOW this–that a great President, Teddy Roosevelt, our 26st President at that turn of that 20th century, fought those Robber Barons that now come in the form of a Bain Capital, a Goldman Sachs, Exxon-Mobile or a tax code that has so many loopholes in it you could run a Mack truck right through the middle of it.  Do not be fooled by wooden nickels bantered about by say a FOX “NEWS”.  Rather, listen to far greater journalists than myself, such as a Paul Krugman, Mr. John Nichols of the Nation Magazine, or even the late, great Walter Cronkite, of CBS News fame, who would have laughed at this movie, complete with some interesting music, a play WE all witnessed on this past Saturday in Norfolk, Virginia.  For their philosophy of ’shrinking government’ is to reward those at the top with more tax breaks, destroy Medicare and Medicaid, Planned Parenthood, and destroy regulations that keep our water, air and seas safe for the next generation, as well as increasing defense spending by the trillions.  All on the back of the middle class (the real 99 percent), a group they claim to champion.  This not to mention ‘the least of US’ (the poor), for as Jesus himself stated many moons ago, what you do to those people, “You Do Unto Me”… Have a great week and stay cool, wherever you may be.  You already ARE!    PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Young Guns?

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 3:37 pm

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the warm, drying out island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Saturday, 11th day of August, 2012, a beautiful day on this little sand bar created 11,500 years ago, not to sound like a broken record, by the “LAST GREAT ICE AGE”… something to remember when the horse$hit starts flying around Paul, “young gun”, Ryan’s rhetoric, the VP choice of “Mitt”, Willard Romney, who wants to be the 45th President of these here United States of America.  I, as I’m sure you did, watched the spectacle that unfolded in Norfolk, Virginia only a few moments ago this morning, yes sir, when ‘ole Mitt announced his decision to choose Paul Ryan, a good man I’m sure, congressman from the great state of Wisconsin.  What was shocking, was the choice to choose a battleship, instead of a gentle field, well, just lent credit to the cliche of “mission accomplished”, for that is what the tea party, the FAKE grass roots tea party, that has hijacked the GOP, ‘not your grandfather’s GOP’, has pulled off, or so ‘they think’… Perhaps a man like Grover Norquist has gotten his wish, having the chance, albeit a small one, to have a “businessman” like Mitt Romney in the Executive of the U.S., killing Medicare as WE now know it, and leaving ’seniors out in the cold’ for real.  I could have said something nice, but, forget that, for the gloves are off and it is SHOW TIME! Have a nice rest of your weekend and WE WILL SEA you here tomorrow, same bat time, same bat channel. For Paul is not the only ‘young gun’ in the house, and as I watch one of John Wayne’s best movie on AMC, also starring Dean Martin, at this present moment, I am reminded of the FACT that this country was founded by men, BIG men, much more powerful than the liars that are trying to hoodwink the good people, all 311 million of them, in this great land of OURS.  Educate yourself to the FACTS and you will SEA what I speak of, God willing…   PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the warm, soon to be thunderous, once again, island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this 10th day of August, 2012, a day of transition here on this little sand bar created 11,500 years ago by the “LAST GREAT ICE AGE”, something to perhaps take in, for as the ice melts in the polar regions of the North Pole, as well as Greenland, Antarctica, not to mention the glaciers in the Himalayas, well, I think it might begin to dawn on ya that, hmmmmm, maybe, just maybe, this ‘global warming hoax’ (credit Senator James Inhofe, R-OK), is not a joke after all, in FACT, it is happening right in front of our “Ostrich eyes”… Leaving that aside for the ‘time being’, may I offer you a quote from the great “Last Lion of the Senate”, the late, great Edward M. Kennedy, “Teddy”, who lived in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts, but enjoyed this fair town of Cotuit, ‘where the ocean meets the wood’, on occasion. A place where he, and his wonderful brother, and 35th President of the United States, found respite from the trials and tribulations of the nasty world of politics.  In his book, “True Compass”, a must read by the way if you want to KNOW anything about OUR American history, he speaks (page 398), of what a ‘man’ like “Mitt” Romney (republican presumptive nominee) would, figuratively speaking of course, do if he were, GOD FORBID, to become President of the United States of America.  And I quote Teddy… ” The real transgression occurs when religion wants government to tell citizens how to live uniquely personal parts of their lives. In cases such as Prohibition or abortion, the proper role of religion is to appeal to the conscience of the individual, not the coercive power of the state.  ‘But there are other questions which are inherently public in nature, which we must decide together as a nation, and where religion and religious values can and should speak to our common conscience….  The issue of nuclear war is a compelling example.  To take a stand…when a question is properly public and truly moral is to stand in a long and honored tradition.’  I cited the evangalists of the 1800s who were in the forefront of the abolitionist movement;  the Reverend William Sloane Coffin, who challenged the morality of war in Vietnam; Pope John XXIII, whom renewed the Gospel’s call to social JUSTICE. And Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who was the greatest prophet of this century, awakened OUR nation and it’s conscience  to the evil of racial segregation.”  I don’t know about you, but as this election, a pivotal election, gets closer to the goal posts, an election that will either take this country BACKWARDS or FORWARDS, well, perhaps we should get a look at those ‘tax’ returns, or lack therein, and SEA what the heck is REALLY going on.  Have a nice day and remember to register to VOTE.  It is your right and duty, not for the politics of it all–but for your brothers, your sisters, your mom, your dad, your grandma, your grandpa, your son, or your daughter…  Have a wonderful weekend folks and may the spirit of a power much greater than ‘ourselves’ be with this super nation forever!     PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M

THE Light within…

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 9:12 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the beautiful, sunny, temperate island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this ninth day of August, 2012, another stunning day around this ‘little sand bar created 11,500 years ago by the Last Great Ice Age’, and we all ask, please come on down and visit US, we will, as always, leave the LIGHT on for ya!  How’s it going? I imagine not so well for the Romney campaign, as they struggle to make sense of their blatant hypocrisy–the game getting quite serious now.  President Barack Obama will, GOD WILLING, WIN in a landslide, for many reasons, but none so much for his HONESTY, not to mention his INTEGRITY, for is that not what WE all want in a President of this great land named 236 years ago by OUR forefathers, i.e., “the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA”–men, real men, who broke through the insanity of then King George III of England, a tyrannical, maniacal moron–to make what we all hold dear saved and safe forever, namely—our freedom, our freedom, our FREEDOM! Have a great day and this humble reporter will be back tomorrow, same bat time, same bat channel. PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M

Little Blue Rock…

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 9:40 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the misty, soon to be sunny island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this sixth day of August, 2012, another day in paradise, so the speak, on this little sand bar created 11,500 years ago by the Last Great Ice Age.   Overnight, we saw some more rain, I only wished the rest of this country experienced the same… for the nation is still in the grip of drought that has brought pain and suffering to many, although that FACT, is rarely put on those corporate owned ‘airwaves’.   My thanks this morning to 97.7 ACK, FM, once again, and the great DJ “Sandy”, the true island radio station of Nantucket, please Google, who brought on Sarah Oktay, professor from the University of Massachusetts, Boston, school of Marine Sciences, Nantucket field station–bringing a bit of LIGHT to OUR environment on that ‘far away island’ of Nantucket, a microcosm of the place WE all live, despite contrary options, right here on planet earth.  I am reminded of a passage in “The Course in Miracles”, where it was written, (page 404, IV. ‘the fear to look within’), that “The Holy Spirit will never teach you that you are sinful.  Errors He will correct, but this makes no one fearful.” Be strong my friends of this beautiful blue rock WE all call home, planet earth.  For this is only a stepping stone to a better place, a place where my grandmother now resides, beyond this plane, as well as Jack Kennedy and his wonderful family who did more for this nation than some who claim, like a game show host, to ‘create’ 12 million jobs.  Give me a break. Have a great week folks and God Bless this great nation, as well as every nation on this little blue rock I call earth, and so, I ‘think’, you do as well.   PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M

Too Early for Flapjacks?

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 8:49 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the warm, partly sunny island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this 4th day of August, 2012, another humid one on Cape, however, I am not complaining, as one of my neighbors just said only few moments ago at this early 8 a.m. hour on this little sand bar created 11,500 years ago by the Last Great Ice Age…  What can I tell you?  Hmmmmmm…. Please allow me to give this some thought, yes, let me give that some thought.  I went to the movies last night, for the first ‘time’ in quite some ‘time’, and watched an epic film, “The Dark Knight RISES”, a timeless BATMAN movie whose greatest star was Anne Hathaway, who played the immortal flip side of mother and father God, so to speak, whose performance brought tears to my eyes for more reasons than I can mention.   I highly recommend this film, as it will go down in this humble reporter’s top ten list of all time great movies.  Putting that aside for the moment, for that is all we really have, if you think about it, is the PRESENT MOMENT. “Dr. Deb Roy, a researcher and cognitive scientist with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, life to learn how humans acquire language.  He and his wife rigged their home with recording devices, which they used to collect over 200,000 hours of audio and video footage.  Amassing, condensing, and editing the recordings  enabled them to hear baby sounds like “gaga” evolve into words like “water”.  If someone wanted to conduct a research project at your home, would you participate if you knew that your every syllable would be recorded and analyzed?  What would the study reveal?  Proverbs 18 offers insight about some unwise speech patterns. (Fox “News”?).  The writer notes that foolish people express their own opinions instead of trying to understand what others have to say (v.2).  Does this characterize us?  Do we sometimes (i.e. Michael Mosier) provoke fights with our words (v.7)), or speak impulsively and “answer a matter before hearing it?” (v.13).  We need to become students of our speech.  With God’s (whoever you may wish to think of something, a power much greater than ‘yourself’), help we can identify and transform destructive dialogue into the words of encouragement that are “good for necessary edification” and that “Impart Grace to the Hearers” (Eph. 4:29).”  A direct quote from Jennifer Benson Schuldt.   OUR words have the power to build up, or tear down.   Have a wonderful day and rest of your weekend, for their is nothing better in ‘this life’ than to lay it down for another, I believe Albert Einstein stated that quite a few moons ago…  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M

Old Town

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 11:30 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the warm, humid, sunny island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Thursday morning, the 2nd day of August, 2012, a typical ‘dog day of summer’ here on the Cape and wonderful islands of MV and Nantucket, home, of course, to the best radio show (hi Sandy, D.C. and Hubbs!  Good Luck to you all and thanks for all of the great work!) on planet earth, 97.7 ACK FM, please Google it, or dial it up, for when you hear the sounds on a weekend, say, via Boulder, Colorado, well, that “Acoustic Storm” will take you by surprise, and may, just may, wake you up to the FACT this is still a great and beautiful world WE all share, whether you are rich, poor, black, white, gay, straight, pink or polka dot…  For what color is God’s skin anyhow? Yes sir, this picture you see above you, of some goof ball “blogger”, sums it all up–Cotuit, ‘Old Town’ Cape, ‘where the ocean meets the wood’. Last night, perhaps around 9 p.m., almost ‘Martha’s Vineyard midnight’ (credit the late great Mike Wallace of “60 Minutes” fame), eastern standard of course, I was parked, as usual, at “Loop Beach”, via Ocean View Avenue.  My fiance and I witnessed, listening in silence, to four young men, right out of high school, take a hike on to the top of the Nantucket Red lifeguard stand on said beach, jumping up to watch perhaps the most spectacular full moonshine show this simple reporter has ever seen.  For you saw this full moon (the first of this month, as the “Blue Moon” will be coming at the latter end of this month) rising above a gorgeous, calm Nantucket Sound, with ‘ner a sound in the night air.  The deep, dark purples that radiated in and out of the bright light of that companion to planet earth, seemed to drift one in and out of ‘consciousness’, and into a realm that only a few witness, if they only took the ‘time’ to SEA life all around them, as opposed to being plugged into the mundane world this country has seemed to have succumbed to, a.k.a. ‘the Kardashians’…  We simply, like I said, listened to their words, as those four young men about to go off to college, one UVM, good luck sir, yes, listening to those innocent words of my own youth, brought it all full circle, seeing for the first time how that laughter, love, joy, and peace still remained within me as well.  I thank them all, for that moment, and wish them the best for their futures, as well as all of the young people in this great country, called “The United States of America”.  Our youth are OUR future, and if you don’t believe that, or in them, well, I just feel sorry for you, for that Carma will come back and bite you in the end.  The spirit of this great country has not died, rather, has been restored and is getting stronger by the day, for out of one, is many, and out of many is ONE! This nation will be reborn and restored, regardless of the plutocrats push for people that don’t pay taxes, or rather feel they don’t owe any–above, somehow in their ‘minds’, the 99.9 percent of US who struggle day to day to pay the bills that keep the lights on, keep our children out of harms way, educated and fed don’t count for much.  Is that not the whole point?  Inquiring minds would like to know. Have a great day folks and keep on watching the skies, stay safe and enjoy these 2012 Olympic games in my old home town of London, England.  They are worthy of your attention.   PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M
