THE United States of America…

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 9:45 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the beautiful, sunny, 72 degree, Fahrenheit, island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Monday morning, the 30th day of July, 2012, nine a.m. hour, eastern standard of course.  You know, I don’t know why I always say that, perhaps it is because I am so happy to be living in such an amazing place such as Cotuit, an old Cape Town off the beaten track, ‘where the ocean meets the wood’, and, as one of my friends, and I am being dead serious here, from FOX NEWS stated recently in an email to me, ‘where the cool people hang out’. True. Looking up at the flag that this country’s song, our national anthem was based upon, a poem written by a young soldier who witnessed the bombs, the fight, the war itself, well, in the end, that FLAG remained.  I hope you all enjoy these summer games in London, England, as I will, for it is truly a miracle that the WORLD can still come together and agree on one thing–that competition does not breed contempt, rather, it builds character, and when all is said and done, take your pick of event, WE shake hands and say, ‘well played sir!’. I wrote a poem recently, for a friend of mine, but, to me, now, everyone I meet IS a friend, even though some may ’seem’ like ‘enemies’. So here it is, LIVE from this old Indian town that haunts me to this day, and, like a river, ocean, lake or stream, will always be part of this cowboy’s heart and soul…

“LOVE”… by, Michael Mosier.

“There are ‘times’ in one’s life, when you meet the one who knows who you ARE…, You don’t need a reason, in this fast paced world, full of pain and doubt.  Yet, we know what peace there may still be in silence, which, if caught, at those precious moments when we forget ‘ourselves’, be in spring, summer, fall or winter, brings US ALL back to that JOY that exists in one’s own heart, the HEART WE ALL have within us, the same heart, the same heart, the same heart…For, as we also all know, deep, deep, deep down, that the only thing that you will truly take with you, is the LOVE you made while on this earthly plane, bringing joy, and, hopefully, making someone’s life breath just a little easier. LOVE is the ONLY answer. AND, it is STRONG–stronger than any bar of steel, politician, pundit, or priest.”

Have a wonderful day and may God Bless this wonderful country, this United States of America, and good luck to all of the athletes who are making a mark that no one can take EVER take from them… PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the cool, less thunderous island of Nantucket! Great to be back with you on this Sunday morning, the 29th day of July, 2012, nine a.m., eastern standard of course, coming to you LIVE from Cotuit, ‘where the ocean meets the wood’, and I pray you and yours are enjoying your well deserved day of rest.  The London Olympics of 2012 have begun in full earnest, as the opening ceremonies showed the world what ‘the world’ truly looks like–when WE all come together as ONE. Years ago, I had the opportunity to go to the winter Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway, circa 1994, and those opening ceremonies brought tears to my eyes…  Athletes who make the commitment to bring their ALL to a sport they love, be it skiing, swimming, biking, well, you name it, always makes this little reporter’s heart soar. Like the great Elizabeth Warren, currently running for the Senate seat that the Last Lion of the Senate, Senator ‘Teddy’ Kennedy vacated when he left this planet for a much better place–hopefully taking it back from the man who ‘drives a truck for Wall Street‘, a good man, but, really… Senator Scott Brown–stated a little while back…“no one gets their on their own, someone helped them along the way…” Be it their mother, be it their father, be it their sister, be it their brother.  Be it their son, be it their daughter, be it friends, colleagues.  Be it rock stars, be it actors who inspired them to go beyond their ‘limits’, well, think about it folks, we all need each other.  Please, I implore you to consider that concept, as WE all enjoy these games in the great town of London, a place I was lucky enough to attend high school, a town that has seen it’s fair share of history, in fact, history that is a big part of our history, in that strange way that ‘everything changes’, i.e., the Revolutionary War of 1776.  Let it be known that inspiration comes from the heart, and the heart is all that really matters in the end and is your TRUE COMPASS. May you ALL, from Finland to New Zealand, the United States of America, the United Kingdom, to Kenya, have the greatest time of your young lives, along with your families who got you there…for this is your time to shine, and WE will be watching, on, NBC and MSNBC of course.  Have a wonderful day and rest of your week end.  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Open your heart…

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the white lightening, stormy, now sunny island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this ten a.m hour., eastern standard of course, on this fair sand bar created 11,500 years ago by the Last Great Ice Age, an age We, right here, right NOW will perhaps never SEA again…  The thunder and lightening I witnessed only a few moments ago, on “Loop Beach”, here in Cotuit, ‘where the ocean meets the wood’, was something to behold, as it was quite early, perhaps 6 a.m., and a few witnessed it, as those lightening strikes brought forth cooler air, that ushered in a nicer air mass that brings a smile to ALL of OUR faces.  Now, at this late morning hour, the sun has made it’s return, and with it, more smiles and a sense of Love, calm and a hopeful future for the hours to come.   This is, of course, the 24th day of July, 2012, and as we look forward to more of the same with politics as usual, except, of course, for those who speak the TRUTH, i.e., President Barack Obama, we may think of man who made this “Affordable
Care LAW” more in focus.  I wish to quote one of the greatest books of history this author has ever read, and I am not even through yet, for it brought me to tears.  From this point forward, I will be quoting from “The Last Lion of the Senate”, former, and the late, great Senator, from the amazing state of Massachusetts, Edward M. “Teddy” Kennedy, who wrote in his memoir, “True Compass”, a must read, if you like REAL history, the real TRUTH about what really happened many moons ago…and on page 218, in the middle of that page–here is one of those passages, speaking of what happened on Friday, June 19, 1964, “…the same evening that we passed the Civil Rights Act, the Massachusetts Democratic Party was opening its annual convention in Springfield.  But, before that occurred, this is what he said, …”My brother (JFK) was the first President of the United States to state publicly that segregation was morally wrong.  His heart and soul are in this bill.  If his life and death had meaning, it was that we should not hate but love one another, and that we should use our powers not to create conditions of oppression that lead to violence, but conditions of freedom that lead to peace.  It is in that spirit that I hope lead to conditions of freedom that lead to peace (I am sorry, but I needed to repeat that very holy point) .  It is in that spirit that I hope the Senate will pass this bill”.    On June 19, 1964, a year to the day after my brother sent his civil rights bill to Congress, it passed into law on a vote of seventy-three to twenty-seven.  “We knew that the Democratic Party would pay a price for this achievement.  Lyndon Johnson (President Lyndon Johnson) himself put it most succinctly when he remarked, “We may win this legislation, but we’re going to lose the South for a generation.”  And he was right; this marked the onset of the transformation of that region from Democrat to Republican.  Other Democrat leaders knew it as well, yet they acted to pass the bill nonetheless.  I’m convinced that they acted, as had my brother in his speech, beyond political calculus:  this was simply the right thing to do.  Lyndon Johnson underscored his own progressive aims on May 22 when, at a commencement address at the University of Michigan, he described his vision of the “Great Society.”  His ideas, transformed into action by a Democratic Congress, produced a constellation of programs, laws, and agencies for social reform, ALL conceived by Jack and Bobby Kennedy, but eventually championed and fought for by LBJ, due to the fact their lives were cut short by cowards who no nothing other than hate, yet, somehow, need to be forgiven.  They included the War on Poverty and the Economic Opportunity Act, the Jobs Corps, Project Head Start, Medicare, Medicaid, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Humanities, VISTA and others.  ALL were Landmarks in AMERICAN HISTORY.”  God Bless the Last Lion of the Senate, and may WE, all pray, someone, some along, and I think WE know who that already IS, to continue these great achievements, for there IS not going back and WE ALL are part of this great land, created 236 years ago by men far greater than any of US can possibly imagine.  God Bless you all and have a wonderful week ahead.  SEA you tomorrow, and may God be with the families of ANY senseless violence of ANY kind, for as we are all one and in the end, we all go HOME together. Instant Carma ran over my dogma…

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 11:08 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the still rather thunderous island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Thursday morning, the 19th day of July, 2012, a much cooler day on the Cape, and I hope you and yours are not suffering too much from the heat and drought that currently grip this “America the Beautiful”–from SEA to shining SEA. To quote an old friend from London, or Liverpool rather, Mr. John Lennon“Imagine there’s no Heaven, it’s easy if you try, no hell below US, above US only SKY. Imagine all the people, living for today…. ah ha, ahhh… Imagine there’s no countries, it isn’t hard to do.  Nothing to kill or die for, and no religion too.   Imagine ALL the people, living life in peace.  You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one.  I hope someday you’ll join US, and the world will be as one.  Imagine no possessions, I wonder if you can, no need for greed or hunger, a brotherhood of MAN.   Imagine all the people, sharing ALL the WORLD.  You who you, you say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one, I hope someday you join US, and the world delivers ONE.  May you be with the TRUTH today, and always, for John Lennon himself summed it up three decades ago with that classic piece of ART. In the immortal words of another John, John Belushi from SNL fame, not to mention his work in “The Blues Brothers” (“we’re on a mission from God”) and his last film, shot in my home state of Colorado, “Continental Divide”, circa 1981, where he stated to his bird watching girlfriend, an EAGLE watcher, as she is trying to make him quit cigarettes, “do you mind not interrupting me during my last smoke”, and I want to put this quite succinctly, for this goes out to all of the athletes competing in the London Summer Olympics of 2012 in only a few days, and, again, I am quoting the dean of funny, Mr. John Belushi as he is making a fake commercial for ‘little chocolate donuts’, and speaking of his recent win in the decathlon, “I logged a lot of miles to win that race, and ate a lot of these ‘little chocolate donuts’.  These donuts have been on my breakfast table since I was a little kid.” Have a great rest of the week folks, as I will be ‘on assignment’ for the rest of the week and week end, so please, also have a GREAT week end and, to quote another classic line from that great Mr. John Belushi aforementioned film “The Blues Brothers”, circa 1980, when John is facing up to FACTS regarding say his tax returns…a nun that you SEA above says, and I’m talking to you Mr. “Mitt” Romney, “come closer, let me SEA your face.” Until we meet again, blessings and respite from the heat!   PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Cotuit Fire

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the partly sunny, warm, and soon to be thunderous island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Wednesday morning, the 18th day of July, 2012, a  TRUE pleasure to be with you and yours once again, coming to you LIVE at this early seven a.m. hour in the Old Cape town of Cotuit, ‘where the ocean meets the wood’. What can I tell you?  One thing is for sure, this past evening spent on “Loop Beach”, right off of Ocean Avenue in this fair town, with my fiance and good friends Steve and Sandy O’Conner was one of the best days of my life, thus far… Eating some great food, talking about the state of the nation, the weather and some old movies, with a gentle breeze and the salty smell of that gorgeous ocean… That is why I say to you today, and I implore you–come on down and visit US, we will, as always, “leave the LIGHT on for YA!”.  Thanks to them for that wonderful evening, for there is nothing better in this world than UN-plugging and taking in the natural beauty that IS Cape Cod and the islands of MV and Nantucket.  UN-plugging the TV, mobile devices and so forth, with the exception of Nantucket’s great new radio that plays the best of the best, 97.7 ACK FM, sitting in peace and the ’sounds of silence’ on a beach that overlooks the most graceful Nantucket Sound, a place that one must visit to believe–watching the Osprey fly, the boats move back and forth past Sampson’s Island, and SEA the youngsters play in that sand and water that we all can relate to.  Politics aside, I think this is exactly what President Theodore Roosevelt (1901-1909) must have been thinking at the turn of the 20th century, when he created the National Park system in this GREAT nation, such as the Cape Cod National Seashore, Yosemite or Yellowstone Park in Wyoming…he wished for ALL to SEA the same as he–every man, woman, child and wild thing. Have a wonderful day!    PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the clear, sunny warm island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Tuesday morning, the 17th day of July, 2012, another warm one on Cape, although not quite as humid as yesterday.  Yes, so here WE all are once again, facing another day in this wicked fun GAME of politics, when, in REALITY, it is as far from a game as one could get.  Mitt Romney is thinking to himself, or his ‘handlers’ rather, are thinking to themselves at this seven a.m. hour on the east coast, hmmmm….. who should we pick to bring our horrible campaign out of the BANE that IS Bain Capital? Yes, perhaps Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota?  A good man in his own right, perhaps should have been the nominee?  Or should we should go for a wild card in Condoleeza Rice? Keep on ‘thinking’ boys, for you will need more than a VP pick to win this one, and you ‘ain’t gonna get it. This election is too important to be spun and YOU know it.  Have a nice day, especially to all of my wonderful friends in the business of TRUE journalism.  You all know who you are. Your work and dedication is a tribute and testimony to what IS still RIGHT with this nation–namely the right to FREE SPEECH–a big part of the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America! America the Beautiful…

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the warm, sultry island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this early Monday morning, the 16th day of July, 2012, a very warm day on Cape as the world feels the effects of man’s activity changing the earth’s weather patterns, rather, it’s climate, warming it via the never ending spewing of Carbon Dioxide into it’s precious atmosphere…  But, of course, no one wishes to speak of that right now, especially this early in the ‘work week’…  So, instead let us turn to the wisdom of the Kardashians, for that ‘reality’ TV show gives US all we need to know what is the real problem in this great nation.  OUR priorities are so far out of wack it would take a miracle to turn this ship around.  One thing IS for sure, “Mitt” Romney is not the man to do that job.  Yes, that is correct, Willard “Mitt” Romney is running for the highest office in the land, the office of the Executive, the President of the United States of America. How sad would it be if he, God Forbid, were to win, for it would take this country backward, not forward, bringing more misery to the masses, misery they did not sign up for.  I implore you to take a good hard look at this election, for it is the most important election this historically rich nation has ever faced.  President Barack Obama will lead US out, as he already has proven, out of that ditch created by an irresponsible administration prior, and as WE all begin to SEA the LIGHT, well, my prayer, message in a bottle if you will, is simple and true–that WE take a good hard look at the option before OUR very eyes and make the right choice.  For you, for me, for your mom, for your dad, for your sister, for your brother, for your son, for your daughter.    Have a great week! Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the once again sunny, gorgeous island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Sunday morning, the fifteenth day of July, 2012, a warm day on Cape, as well as the islands of the aforementioned MV and Nantucket, looking forward to a Baptism of my fiancee’s niece, Stephanie, who will bring little “Hailey” home from church for her first cook out on such a glorious day.  I thought I might just wish her and all the little ones out there the BEST, for WE ALL KNOW that the children are OUR future and that it is, as ‘adults’ OUR responsibility to leave them the same as OUR parents left US.  Lachlan Macquarie, governor of New South Wales from 1810-1821, had a way of making everyone feel included in the new colony.  When the “exclusives” (free settlers, civil servants, and military officers) shunned the society of the “emancipists” (transported convicts given conditional or absolute pardon), Governor Macquarie insisted they be treated as social equals.  Jesus showed interest in Zacchaeus, a shunned tax collector in Jericho, and included him in the recipients of His salvation plan (Luke: 19:1-10).  A marginalized and hated man because of his profession, Zacchaeus was desperate to see Jesus and climbed a tree to get a glimpse of Him.  When Jesus passed by, He saw Zacchaeus’ desire and told told him to come down because he had a divine appointment at his house.  Some complained that Jesus was spending too much time with a sinner.  His loving attention changed Zacchaeus’ life.  He repented and offered restitution for those he had defrauded.  Salvation had come to his house.  Jesus’ mission was simple: Diligently search for lost people, whatever their social standing, and offer them God’s salvation plan.  As followers of Christ, we too have that as our mission.  (credit Marvin Williams).   As an addition to this most sacred statement, I would add this prayer as well on this Sunday as I leave you for the moment, “Lord, help us show compassion to a world that’s lost in sin, So when we share to gospel, Hungry souls for Christ we’ll win.” ~Sper PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Nantucket Red

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the misty, cloudy, awesome island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Saturday morning, the 14th day of July, 2012, a little break from the sun, as WE all have, I assume, and one KNOWS about assumption, ‘when you assume, you make an ASS out of you and me’–however, I will take that risk–I assume, WE all have a sun burn from the blistering heat that has gripped this great land of OURS, so take care and remember sunblock, for this is not a joke, and the repercussions of overexposure to the sun are sometimes fatal.  Putting that aside for the ‘time’ being, I hope you all out there in this U.S. of A. are having a good one.  The political season is in full gear and WE all know what that means, spin, spin, spin, and, more spin… The thing about spinning is it only works in a baseball game, when one is hitting a high fast ball on the outside, such as what I witnessed yesterday.  My, well not mine, but you get the point, “Cotuit Kettleers”, a team on the Cape Cod (AA baseball) League won against Wareham, 2 to 1.  Not much news there, but if you take this league as a microcosm of the whole in regard to this pivotal election, well, you may just get the point.  For even though WE ALL KNOW what is up and what is not, the voter suppression that is happening right before OUR very eyes, leaves little to doubt about the dubious nature of what may, or may not transpire in only a few months now, it will either help or destroy this nation, depending, of course, on your point of view.  That is FACT.  So take heed and remember what the truth tellers say (i.e. the GREAT Reverend Al Sharpton, a must SEA on his venerable show “Politics Nation”, only on MSNBC, weeknights at six sharp p.m., eastern standard), and VOTE your conscience, not ‘theirs’…  Like I said before, and I will say once again, ‘we all have a dog in this FIGHT‘.  So educate your mother, father, sister, brother, daughter, son, and everyone you know, because this country IS worth saving–not for the few, but for the many. Have a wonderful weekend. PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the once again, not to sound like a broken record, sunny, beautiful island of Nantucket! Great to be back with you once again, a real pleasure, I might add, on this perfect summer day in Cotuit, Massachusetts, ‘where the ocean meets the wood’.  Yes sir, looking above at some youngsters enjoying OUR 4th of July Parade only a few moments ago, a place that Norman Rockwell himself would have been proud to call HOME. Well, I suppose I must say something about last night’s “Last Word, with Lawrence O’Donnell”, only on MSNBC, weeknights at ten p.m. sharp, eastern standard of course, for he, along with the great Alex Wagner, gave perhaps the best rendition of what IS the TRUTH and what is most certainly a LIE. What do WE speak of here?  Only the future of this GREAT NATION, known round these here parts as the United States of America. “…Questions!” (credit Billy Idol), as that famous Blade Runner movie robot said once in a movie for the ages long ago, starring, of course, as well, the equally great Harrison Ford–for WE would all like to know what the big secret is with Bain Capital, Bermuda and dare I say, the Cayman Islands, not to mention one of my favorite countries on planet earth, Switzerland… We cannot know, apparently, anything about the Mormon Faith, we can’t know about off shore accounts, we can’t know a heart of a man who wants to run a country that he, and his family is lucky enough to live in.   President Barack Obama let his heart be KNOWN, along with his wonderful wife Michelle. That is the TRUTH my friends, and if you wish to vote against your OWN best interests, well, just know this–’ole “Mitt” ‘won’t be given any ‘free stuff away’ such as human caring, abundance for ALL and a sense of who the heck he really IS.  Have a NICE DAY G.O.P!  For your party no longer represents anything like what Teddy Roosevelt, a republican President from 1901 to 1909, who believed in the AMERICAN PEOPLE, and OUR environment (SEA the National Parks of this great nation, please), as opposed to Mitch, ‘the mouse’, McConnell’s (R-KY) definition, the same as Willard, “Mitt”, Romney’s, which is, by that same definition, “of, by and for the plutocrats of the United States of America.” Deal with it FOX, if you have the GUTS!  Best, and have a great day!  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! “When Justin met Eunice”

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 9:41 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the wonderfully sunny, breezy island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this 12th day of July, 2012, another beauty on Cape and in the Spirit of the upcoming Olympic Summer games in London, a place I called home during this reporter’s high school and freshman year of college, I wished to bring to Light once again a lady who championed much more than even the most decorated of athletes, politicians, business leaders ever did or could have hoped to have achieved–Eunice Kennedy Shriver (1921-2009).  As founder and honorary chairperson of Special Olympics and executive vice president of the Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr. Foundation, Eunice Kennedy Shriver was a leader in the worldwide struggle to improve and enhance the lives of individuals with intellectual disabilities for more than five decades.  Born in Brookline, Massachusetts, the fifth of nine children of Joseph P. and Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy, Eunice Mary Kennedy received a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from Stanford University in Palo Alto, California.  Following graduation, she worked for the U.S. State Department in the special war problems division.  In 1950, she became a social worker at the Penitentiary for Women in Alderson, West Virginia, and the following year she moved to Chicago to work with the House for the Good Shepherd and the Chicago Juvenile Court. In 1957, Shriver took over direction of the Joseph P. Kennedy Foundation.  The Foundation, established in 1946 as a memorial to Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr.–the family’s eldest son, who was killed in World War II–has two major objectives:  to seek the prevention of intellectual disabilities by identifying its causes, and to improve the means by which society deals with citizens who have intellectual disabilities.  Under Shriver’s leadership, the Foundation has helped achieve many significant advances, including the establishment by President Kennedy of the President’s Committee on Mental Retardation in 1961, development of the National Institute for Child Health and Human Development in 1962, the establishment of a network of university-affiliated facilities and mental retardation research centers at major medical schools across the United States in 1967, the establishment of Special Olympics in 1968, the creation of major centers for the study of medical ethics at Harvard and Georgetown Universities in 1971, the creation of the “Community of Caring” concept for the reduction of intellectual disabilities among babies of teenagers in 1981, the institution of 16 “Community of Caring” Model centers in 1982, and the establishment of “Community of Caring” programs in 1200 public and private schools from 1990-2006.  Recognized throughout the world for her efforts on behalf of persons with intellectual disabilities, Shriver received many honors and awards, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the Legion of Honor, the Priz de la Couronne Francaise, the Mary Lasher Award, the Phillip Murray-William Green Award (presented to Eunice and Sargent Shriver by the AFL-CIO), the AAMD Humanitarian Award, the NRPAS National Volunteer Service Award, the Laetare Medal of the University of Notre Dame, the Order of the Smile of Polish Children (a smile you can SEA above you by my good friend Justin Sawicki of Cotuit, Massachusetts!), the Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms Freedom from Want Award, the National Women’s Hall of Fame, the Laureus Sports Award, the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) Theodore Roosevelt Award, and the International Olympic Committee Award.  Her honorary degrees included:  Yale University, the College of the Holy Cross, Princeton University, Regis College, Manhattenville College, Newton College, Brescia College, Central Michigan University, Loyola College, University of Vermont, Albertus Mangus College, Cardinal Strich University, Georgetown University, and Marymount University.  On 24 March 1984, U.S. President Ronald Reagan awarded Shriver with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian award, for her work on behalf of person’s with intellectual disabilities, and, in 2005, she was honored for her work with Special Olympics as one of the first recipients of a sidewalk medallion on The Extra Mile Point of Light Pathway in Washington, D.C. Eunice Kennedy Shriver died on August 11th, 2009.  Her husband, Sargent Shriver, died on January 18, 2011.  They are survived by their five children: Robert Sargent Shriver III, Maria Owings Shriver Schwarzenegger, Timothy Perry Shriver, Mark Kennedy Shriver and Anthony Paul Kennedy Shriver.  The smile you SEA above you and the medals you see right below were awarded to a young man of polish decent whom I am proud to call my friend, Justin Sawicki, whose dignity and person hood, independence and light are a testament to the power of Eunice Kennedy Shriver and her life long work with those many ‘thought’ could not help themselves, or, be an integral part of our society, back in the dark age of ignorance and intolerance.  Her legacy will remain forever in my heart and as WE all enjoy these upcoming Olympic summer games in London, England, may we take pause to remember those, like Justin, who have achieved far more than many of US ‘normal’ U.S. citizens could ever dream of.  Have a nice day!  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Great White?

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 8:54 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the once again sunny, temperate, beautiful island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Wednesday morning, the 11th day of July, 2012, another stunning day on the Cape and Islands as we all have been enjoying what most in southern California experience year round, say in Newport Beach for example–sunny skies and dry air, with temperatures in the lower to mid 70’s…, perfect for watching the Great White Sharks that have been spotted off of Coast Guard Beach in the fair lower Cape town of Chatham, as you look up at “Chatham Light” where the first pilgrims on the Mayflower and other vessels actually landed in the early part of the 17th century.  At the ‘time’ they could not find water and thus, moved up the coast where they found some in what is today known as Provincetown, the furthest hamlet on this little sand bar created 11,500 years ago by that Last Great Ice Age.  Of course it is only a few hundred miles from another island to the east of Chatham–Bermuda. Bermuda, Blindness, Bogus?  The funny thing about sharks, such as the Great White, is that they, unlike some private equity firms, are benign and avoid most human beings, whereas companies like Bain Capital, Mitt Romney’s claim to ’success’, eat at will…, destroy rather than create. To quote the presidential hopeful, Willard “Mitt” Romney, regarding his holdings, vast holdings in foreign banks, such as the aforementioned island of Bermuda, the Cayman Islands and the great country of Switzerland, “I don’t even know where they are”…  Really?  How blind and dumb do you ‘think’ the people of this great country are sir?  Further, just how far are you fellas gonna take this voter suppression?  How far do you think it will take you?  Is it going to work? I highly doubt it. Mystery abounds with Mitt Romney and if he, unlike his father, won’t even release his ‘papers’, i.e. his tax returns such as his father did, who claimed years ago that the standard for someone attempting to reach that highest office in the land should be at least 12 years worth of said papers, well then, you sir are going in the wrong direction.  In the words of the great Vice President Joe Biden of the great state of Delaware, “…he wants to SEA you papers, but won’t show US his…”.  A good point of parliamentary procedure sir and well stated, calling out Mitt only yesterday in a speech given with grace, COMMON SENSE and FAIRNESS–you know REASON! Yet, still, this man wants to be the President of the United States of America, when we all know that should he, God Forbid, win the election, this country will become more akin to the “United States of Exxon-Mobile & Friends”, plutocrats who care NOTHING for the common man or woman, child or even wild thing, rather, care only about gaining the ’system’ for their benefit, or, as Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina put it, “…it is only a game”, speaking of taxation and the evasion of taxes by ‘men’ like Mitt or any one of his pals who cheats within a system of an outdated and quite corrupt tax code that favors that .001 percent and leaves the rest of America twisting in the wind, with crumbling bridges, roads and schools.  With mother’s who can’t afford to feed their babies and can’t see a doctor because ‘ole Mitt, and I quote, “…oh, Planned Parenthood?, we are going to do away with that”, leaving millions of poorer women without any access to health care of any kind.  This must be a bad JOKE, for that IS what this choice amounts to.  Pushing money off shore IS tax evasion. It is that simple.  So when you are down in Bermuda, you can put that FACT in your proverbial pipe and smoke it, for the PEOPLE of this most sacred nation will not stand for a man whose main goal is to destroy what many have died defending, preserving and nurturing.  WE will SEA who WINS in the end. Cheaters are not normally good presidents, just ask ‘tricky Dick’ (Nixon), who left office in shame because he felt he was above the LAW at that famous hotel in Washington D.C. known as Watergate.  So as the republican clowns on Capitol Hill, such as Speaker of the House John Boehner, attempt (for the 31st time) to repeal the Affordable Health Care LAW, upheld recently, bravely, I might add, by Chief Justice of the Supreme Court John Roberts, kudos again sir!, here are some FACTS to chew on during your morning breakfast–the C.O.B. (congressional budget office), a fair, bipartisan body in congress, estimates that should, again, God Forbid, this law be repealed, it will actually ADD 145 billion dollars to the national debt over a ten year period.  Hmmmm. I thought those republicans were all about reducing the deficit?  At least that is what they say on FOX “NEWS”.  Have a nice day folks and remember, WE ALL have a VOICE and a dog in this fight.  Educate yourself, your neighbors, your children, your friends, your colleagues, your mom and your dad, for in the end, this country is worth saving.  A country that has come so far in regard to African-Americans being able to vote, women having the right to their own bodies, and rules of the road when it comes to OUR precious environment.  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! AHOY! 3.0…

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 12:41 pm

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the most incredibly gorgeous, blue skied, big ‘puffy’ cloud day on that fair island of Nantucket! Great to be with you again, sorry about that delay, as we, here at seacapecod.net, had some ‘technical difficulties’ as many around the world perhaps experienced as well.  Thank God for computer genius friends such as Mr. John O’Brien of the old Cape Indian town of Mashpee! Thank you sir!  Well, AHOY! and welcome to your Tuesday afternoon, 12:22 p.m. to be quite precise, eastern standard of course, the tenth day of July, 2012, and I want to thank all of the good folks down at the Hampton’s this past week end for their hospitality and gracious entertainment.  As a ‘tree huggin liberal’ like myself, I was surprised when I asked some bloke in a Porsche if he had any ‘Grey Poupon’. You can just imagine my embarrassment.  To my great shock, he ended up giving me the whole jar of that great mustard, so kudos and good luck with the ‘fund raising’ efforts, for even though I am obviously on the side of REASON and FAIRNESS, some of my more wealthy friends are not all bad.  However, some ARE. The lies that are being promulgated in this pivotal election cycle have come home to roost, as many, both poor and rich, black and white, gay or straight, purple or polka dot have come to REAL EYES one clear fact that a great REPUBLICAN President, one Abraham Lincoln, once said back in the mid part of that most terrifying (for the nation) 19th century, put so well by some of the members of the Black Caucus yesterday on Capitol Hill, some great congresswomen who could, and will, cut that mustard with a blade as sharp as a light saber, and that, of course, is this, “…you can fool some of the people all of the time, and you can fool all of the people some of the time.  But, you CANNOT fool ALL of the PEOPLE ALL of the ‘time’…” Good Luck this week to all of the fine journalists who have covered all of these issues with such grace, dignity, professionalism and intelligence, you all know who you are.  And if you do not, just go back a few ‘blogs’ and you will SEA your names in LIGHT! Have a great day folks and remember that wooden nickles are worth nothing, save some pennies on Ebay.  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M
