Nantucket Sunrise

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 8:31 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the windy, rainy island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Wednesday morning, the thirtieth day of November, 2011, very early, four a.m., coming to you LIVE from the rain soaked shores of Cotuit, a quaint, small, old Cape town of wood, wind and ocean… “What can I tell you…”, in the immortal words of the once great comedian, and quite possibly could be again, Dennis Miller, about this insane world we all seem to be living in these days, other than our former Secretary of the Treasury, Hank Paulson, also former CEO of Goldman Sachs, is a scumbag and a liar.  Yesterday, Bloomberg News came out with a story that you must Google for yourself to believe, for it was the man with the three page plan who told all of his buddies that Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, the two housing giants, were about to go belly up back before the 2008 meltdown, bringing this whole rigged game full circle, even if most of America is blind, deaf and dumb to the whole fiasco that has New York and Washington looking more and more like Siamese twins everyday.  This is exactly what “Occupy Wall Street” is all about, and even though it may not be gaining the crack like headlines of late, although it should, it is gaining traction every day by virtue of the FACT that it is an idea, organic in nature, with it’s core wrapped around the ‘flag’ of Justice, equality, fairness, and humanity, you know, wrapped around the whole notion Jesus once spoke of concerning ‘building your house on bedrock‘, as opposed to ‘sand‘, for WE all know that “sand” is defined by Jesus as lies, innuendo, stealing, cheating, well, take your pick of any of the seven deadly sins and you get the idea.  That is precisely why the republican party is in such FEAR. They may have the guns, the crazies and the mean spiritedness backing them up, but, in the end, their ‘house’, a metaphor for their SOUL, will have been built on those aforementioned ‘family values’, and thus, will suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune when that ‘house’ is ushered off into the sea, as the foundation was never rooted in the goodness of bedrock that allows one to sleep well at night.  We all have to meet our maker someday and there will be no place to hide at ‘that juncture’… Ron Wyden, the fine Senator from the great state of Oregon appeared on the venerable “Countdown, with Keith Olbermann”, airing every week night at eight p.m., eastern standard, re-airing again at 11, 2 a.m., 7, noon and three the next day, only on Current TV, show last night to discuss the plutocrats’ final power play grab (as in a bill introduced recently to Congress, H.R. 3261), that seeks to severely restrict, cloaked in the guise of ‘protecting copyright law and piracy’, free speech and commerce, commerce, according to a Google spokesperson yesterday at a Capitol Hill hearing on the matter, that is in the neighborhood of 300 billion dollars a year, let alone the freedom of real people, like you, reading journalism that is not beholden to anyone, or anything, certainly not any advertisers, thus, has no ‘Angle’ and can bring the FACTS, while leaving the interpretation up to the only person that matters, i.e. the reader, YOU!, defining what journalism was, is and will be again.  This is the final hurdle, in the eyes of the plutocratic vision, an Orwellian vision at that, that must be navigated if ‘total domination’ is to be realized.  Although I would not hold my breath, for that genie has already left the bottle, the station, the barn, and he ‘ain’t comin’ back to do any more slave labor, feel “lucky” to be doing so and live in fear of your sorry, sad, plutocratic a$$, feeling more like a hostage than a human being, while the top one tenth of the top one percent live like Kings and Queens, instructing their banks to keep foreclosing on U.S. military veterans, like Bank of America, well done boys!, just one example of the many this reporter, among thousands just like me, has filed, written and will publish soon just to, you know, keep “y’all” honest, as you attempt to hijack the last line of defense against all out tyranny, FREE SPEECH!  FU! The last time I checked, this country was built on the premise of freedom, and yet, ironically, that freedom has been chipped away to the point where the Almighty dollar has become more important than the God these people claim to follow in what they would like to become a national religion–namely “Christianity”… the irony just drips off the bone does it not?  What part of the simple words Jesus himself uttered over 2011 years ago, “you cannot serve two masters”, did they not understand?  Gotta love that “Christianity” doncha?  It is the best religion, for you can truly be a lying, hypocritical, greedy bastard six days of the week, yet, on Sunday, you can put on your best clothes, clothes that were made in some sweat shop in Taiwan, and sing ‘God’s’ praises, telling the world just how much you love ‘him’, while you ‘forgive’/ hate those tree huggin’, liberal, book learnin’, filthy, hippy bastards, “testifying” with that inner ‘knowingness’ that not only are you ‘right’, but, moreover, actually ‘helping’ your brothers and sisters who have next to nothing now, thanks to a sick system designed by, oh yeah, YOU, destroying education, polluting our environment, deregulating our once proud financial institutions, and finally destroying a Divinely inspired democracy, created by some great guys and gals, over 237 years ago, by allowing money to circumvent the notion of “In God WE TRUST”… Have a great day folks, dodging those rain drops if you will, as you hopefully also dodge those wooden nickles offered up by the likes of FOX NEWS and all of that fantastic ‘journalism’ going on over there. I’m gonna get Steve Ducey and all of the participants of the stellar morning show“FOX & FRIENDS” a nice fruit basket. (credit Bill Murray and the classic film, Ghostbusters!) PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Cape Cod Carpet

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the overcast, rather warm island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Tuesday morning, the twenty-ninth day of November, 2011, a cloudy start with warm temperatures in the little Indian village of Cotuit, chalk full of wood and ocean, and, if you listen very carefully, you can still hear the “insolent” Indians crying out for some kind of social JUSTICE, as the newly arrived inhabitants of this New World take what was never theirs to begin with, leaving those Indians with natural gas well heads oozing with 596 deadly chemicals, poisoning the water and air for generations to come.  WE are merely stewards of what God has graced US all with, fiercely defending the wilderness today, just as one of our greatest President’s did at the beginning of the century, the twentieth, that has long passed us by…Teddy Roosevelt, who fought to preserve that wilderness at all costs, knowing that commitment to our environment would pay off for future generations to come… Oh, what does this humble reporter from Cape Cod really know about anything anyhow? Damn liberal, tree huggin’ hippy bastards!, especially when you have some really good men who are about to take the lead in this country, making those ‘too big to fail banks’ even bigger, and more dangerous to all concerned, i.e., everyone in the world today, yes, let’s see, what else, oh yeah, the environment we were just speaking of, yes, that too, I’m afraid, will be gone, for a ‘man’ like Newt Gingrich, who once sat on a sofa with Nancy Pelosi (former Speaker of the House), talking a big game to climate change and the importance of tackling this paramount issue, not to mention, well, you can tune in to “Countdown, with Keith Olbermann”, for the rest today, airing every weeknight at eight p.m., eastern standard time, (and re-airing every weeknight at 11, 2, 7, noon and three the next day) only on Current TV, where you will get the straight news, none of this fizzy, water downed horse$hit you get over on FOX NEWS every night, where clinical tests have proven that watching even a few minutes of that crap will give you blurred vision, nausea, body aches, and trouble going to the bathroom, unless you are running there to throw up, for the Kool-Aid Rupert Murdoch’s FOX NEWS fun house, or another kind of house Keith mentions from ‘time’ to ‘time’, yes, the Kooky Kool-Aid that is offered up by ‘Fox and Friends’ does not take a break from hypocrisy, lying, money grabbing, sexually harassing, or condoning it in the candidates Rupert ‘approves’ of, no, it keeps on spreading the love, day in, and day out, keeping it free from the ‘fact zone’ and solidifying it’s only real function–to pull the wool over the collective eyes of ‘the American People’, ever pushing the real AMERICAN PEOPLE into the ditch the republican party wishes to bury them in.  Few lights remain, as in real congressmen  and women who stand up and fight for what is right, by THOSE American people, such as a congressman right here in the great state of Massachusetts, Barney Frank, who has served his constituents with dignity, grace, humor, style and loyalty, never forgetting, during his decades of service to this nation, why he was sent to Washington D.C. to begin with.  WE, here at seacapecod.net salute you sir, and wish you God’s speed for the remainder of your term, as well as into the future, where you will, hopefully, someday, attain that PhD from Harvard~  Have a nice day folks, keeping in mind that WE are all very lucky to be living in such a great country, even with all of it’s current challenges, i.e., stopping a highway robbery from happening right before our very eyes.  This is still a great land, full of rich history, great men and women who graced it, and an abundant amount of LOVE, an element that can conquer ANYTHING! PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M

Cape Hobbits

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the starry skies of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Monday morning, the twenty-eighth day of November, 2011, an early one, as the stars are still out in full force at this five a.m. hour, a warm morning on Cape as well, as we expect yet another stunner on this little sand bar created 11,500 years ago by the Last Great Ice Age…  The Sunday morning talk shows went off without a hitch yesterday, with pundits and politicians speaking to the ’super’, of lack therein, committee, and it’s failure to help the people it serves, the ’she turned me into a Newt’ (credit the classic film, ‘Monty Python and the Holy Grail’) Gingrich surge in New Hampshire, as that state’s Manchester Union Leader news paper endorsed the ‘historian’ over Mitt, ‘corporations are people too’, Romney, with the rest of the mouseketeers falling by the way side, one by one, as the side show of this republican exercise to see who is more to the ‘right’ than the Devil himself goes on and on and on…proving once again, this new and improved Grand Old Party is not your ‘grandfather’s G.O.P.’, rather, an all out culture war against the ‘welfare state’, opting for the ‘opportunity state’, opportunity for the top one tenth of the top one percent~  As tensions in the Middle East continue to mount, with Egypt and Syria being in the cross hairs at this hour, focus on Europe’s debt crisis also begs for our attention, for today’s global market is akin to a mobile one might hang above a baby’s crib, if you touch one side, one part of the mobile, that action affects every other aspect of said mobile, very much making Greece, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Ireland, well, you get the picture, very much everyone’s problem–I wonder if the boys down at Goldman Sachs ever thought of that one.  Couple that with Black Friday and consumer confidence shooting the moon, and you are all caught up with world wide events, so don’t bother turning on ‘Morning Joe’, on MSNBC, when you can opt to go out and take a nice walk in the wilderness, taking in all that IS great about this world, for when one is connected to nature and the natural order of things, the more clarity and peace one has in one’s life, and thus a whole lot more LOVE and JOY, for they, like the now global economy, are all inter (and inner) connected.  Although I must say, if you are going to watch a morning show, pick that one over “Fox and Friends”, a show designed to pull the wool over the collective eyes of ‘the American People’ (credit GOP favored talking point to Mitch, ‘the mouse’, McConnell (R-KY)), at least those ignorant enough to actually ‘think’ that crap on FOX is news.  Have a wonderful week ahead folks, dodging wooden nickles along the way, i.e. those offered up by the aforementioned FOX, the republican candidates running for President and anyone who tells you that the earth’s temperatures are NOT going up exponentially…  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M

Cotuit Color

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 9:32 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the sunny, seasonable island of Nantucket! Great to be with you and yours on this Saturday morning, the twenty-sixth day of November, 2011, a stunningly beautiful one on Cape, Cotuit in particular, as the sun has made it’s triumphant return, after eating some Tums and left over turkey, along with some great coconut cream pie one of my neighbors kindly made for our Thanksgiving day feast on this little sand bar created by the Last Great Ice Age over 11,500 years ago…thank you creative intelligence! Not much going on today, ‘news’ wise that is, unless you consider ‘Black Friday’ ‘news’.  Apparently CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX, among others most certainly do, especially if it involves pepper spray, a Walmart and frantic shoppers who are herded, like so many cattle, into the giant corporate shopping centers to fight like dogs for scraps of meat that come in the form of an X Box, a waffle maker, or a 100 inch plasma television set, creating the illusion of an economy that has signs of life.  The reality, and irony, of course, is this ‘Black Friday’ symbolizes that great divide, the Grand Canyon, between the haves and the have nots, exposing it as a side show, as Chris Matthews, of “Hardball“, only on MSNBC, might say, a real rift, for most impossible to navigate across, a clear divide that it most certainly has become.  A canyon so obvious that the people who are participating in the circus cannot see, for many different reasons, offering up entertainment, while pushing those all important corporate ‘holiday’ numbers more in the black than in the red–ho, ho, ho!! Flash to a corporate board meeting only a few weeks ago…  “Anderson, I want those figures on ‘the Samsung’, damn South Koreans, and how many units we can give away in relation to how much coverage we are going to get on this one…?”, for we all know, they are not ‘giving’ away anything, save their hand, in this trick of the trade, the old ‘bait and switch’, offering only more evidence of that stranglehold large corporate interests have on the masses, which is much worse when it comes to the smoke and mirror show that congress has devolved into during this mad day and age, a rather dark and gloomy ‘time’ in our history as a country would you not agree?  No matter what ’side’ you may be on at present, armed with the ‘facts’ certain television stations will allow you to think about…consider this. If you want to make a difference today, and every day, buy local, support small businesses in your community, in fact, think globally and act locally.  That IS the only way the current ’system’ (that has hijacked the United States of America) will turn away from the Current(v) course it is on, via the slow drip of crony capitalism, beginning it’s march back to sanity and a fair shake for ALL. Have a nice day and keep on dodging those wooden nickles offered up by FOX & FRIENDS, they may look like cuddly ‘news’ correspondents, however, take heed, they are not cuddly, they are not safe, cute human like fox figurines, nor are they your ‘friends’, for would friends offer you a lie instead of the TRUTH?  Would a credible news organization effectively steal your wallet and then help you look for it?  Would a decent journalist tell you to drink that tainted tap water now poisoned by the KOCH BROTHERS and Halliburton, Inc.’s, 596 deadly chemicals used in the ‘fracking’ process of attaining ‘natural gas’, in 34 states now, all UNREGULATED, slated to happen soon to the Delaware River Basin, affecting over 18 million U.S. citizens drinking water, mostly in the New York City area? I did not think so. PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M

A Cape Cod Thanksgiving…

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 7:40 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the cold, cloudy island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Thanksgiving morning, very early, 4:59 a.m., EDT, this twenty-fourth day of November, 2011, coming to you from the wood and ocean of Cotuit, the tiny old Cape town on a peninsula touching Nantucket Sound.  Many moons ago, before there even was a “United States of America”, there were a group of settlers, mostly from England, who lived on these shores with the original stewards of this land, the American Indian, whose spirit is still available for anyone with a heart open enough to receive ‘it’, ’so come on down, and give us visit, and, as always, we will leave the LIGHT on for ya!’  There are so many reasons for this reporter to be thankful today it is hard to count them all, however, I would like to thank all of the wonderful people who have sent me comments over the year, you inspire me, thanks.  I also wish to express my gratitude for all of the great journalists out there who have made my job that much easier, you are all a pleasure to watch on the ‘tv’, and your work has helped keep this country from slipping into an even scarier place than it is right now.  Men and women, of which I am sure I will leave a few out, but, rest assured, you know who you are, and thus, so do I, reporters like Chris Mathews, who I just saw jumping a plane to Nantucket!, I’m only 30 miles nautically north/northwest of your local, Ed Shultz, Rachel Maddow, Lawrence O’Donnell, Alex Wagner, Chris Hayes, and of course, the dean of journalism himself, Mr. Keith Olbermann, of Current TV, who had, as his guest last night, with David Shuster doing a fine job as the regular guest host filling in for Keith, none other than Daniel Ellsberg, a former rifle commander with the Marines in the 1950’s, but perhaps more remembered for his whistle blowing when he worked in the Defense department, in the year 1971, wherein he released 7000 pages of top secret, at the time, papers from the Pentagon, hence coming to be known as ‘The Pentagon Papers’, contributing greatly to bringing an end to the Vietnam war.  Releasing those documents to the New York Times, along with 18 other publications, created a firestorm of controversy with then President Nixon being overheard on a telephone call saying, ‘we gotta get this son of a bitch…’. Here is the entire interview via, “Countdown, with Keith Olbermann”, from Tuesday night’s show, airing every week night at 8 p.m., EDT, re-airing at 11 p.m., 2 a.m., 7 a.m., noon, and three the next day, only, again, on Current TV, an interview that brings this all transcendental, for if a well spoken, articulate eighty year old man, who has been arrested 83 times for ‘civil disobedience’, a non-violent form of protest that gets the job done, can bring his energy to this “hippy, tree huggin’, filthy scum bag” movement, then so can you my brothers and sisters, and watch (as Reverend Al Sharpton said on his new promo for his great new show, “Politics Nation”, only on MSNBC, airing at 6 p.m., week nights, EDT), and see who has blue berry pie all over their face, right AFTER they told you they had not eaten any, nor had they even seen a blueberry pie…” Happy Thanksgiving Reverend! So, without further adieu, here is the interview, with David Shuster asking the first question of Daniel, “…how does this “Occupy” movement compare with the anti-war movement of the 1960’s?”  Ellsberg: “In some ways, it’s a throw back for me, what I was seeing at Sprowl Plaza, or now what is called ‘the Mario Savio steps’… as a reborn youth movement.  The movement against the war then, and even before the draft, a major issue, was the youth movement.  The Civil Rights movement was largely a youth movement, the free speech movement at Berkeley was as well.  We haven’t seen that much of it for a long time, and nobody is quite clear on why that is.  I was just very euphoric to see this happening now.  We don’t have the draft, but of course the students are facing not only crushing student debt, and ever rising tuition, but they’re being drafted into the army of the unemployed, that’s the future that they have looking at them.  And I think this particular movement took off from a college graduate in Tunis, who could only get work as an unlicensed vegetable seller, Mohamed Bouazizi, who actually burned himself to death in protest against the corruption, of the police brutality and the corrupt blight of fees they were getting on him.  And then one other thing happened, Wiki leaks published one of many cables that were put out by one individual, an American patriot, we don’t know who, but the man accused is Bradley Manning, who is sitting in a prison right now, in Leavenworth, and those cables showed that the American government was well aware of the corruption of the Ben Eli regime in Tunis, which we’ve been backing for years and supporting in various ways, which led to the occupation of Tunis square, and that, in turn, led to the occupation of Liberty square, or Tahrir square in Egypt, both of which actually toppled those corrupt and dictatorial regimes.  Now my understanding is that this “Occupy movement” here took heart and inspiration from that very invention, non-violent protests, the idea of persistent occupation, not just a demonstration that lasts for only one day, and I hope it will change the corruption in this country.  Shuster: “It also appears to be fueled by these police tactics we are seeing over and over again.  We keep seeing images of students being pepper sprayed at the U.C. Davis campus, what was going through your mind when you saw that and how do you think that particular incident will impact the movement?” Ellsberg: “I’ll tell you exactly, when I was sitting on the steps, I was invited into a tent, by some young people there, and in the course of it, they were still feeling the effects of being ‘nudged’ (as the A.P. put it) by police batons, and you’ve probably seen the You Tube pictures of those people being rammed by large batons, batons are better called bats, well, in the course of that night, they were expecting police assaults, on this very peaceful gathering of people sitting and lying, people peaceably assembled, and they offered me a gas mask, a gas mask, in America?  Peaceable assemblies don’t have to worry about gas masks!  I’ve been arrested a few times, but never tear gassed, or gassed…to me, if there were pictures of Abu Ghrab, they would be right at home.  This is torture, police torture, the idea they were spraying these students at U.C. Davis, as though they were spraying bugs amongst weeds…people should be held accountable. One of the things that is coming out of these occupations, I think, is 4000 people, peaceably submitting to arrest, non-violently, in ‘civil disobedience’, in very dramatic contrast to the 0 prosecutions of the people who fraudulently brought this country to it’s knees, in the sub-prime mortgage scandal.  Not one person to my knowledge has been prosecuted for that at this point.  The contrast is very startling. Corruption in Tunisia?  I hadn’t heard corruption here, although I heard it earlier in your show, I was very struck by that.  The FACT is that one hundredth of the one percent, not the sports stars or the movie stars making millions, but the people who lobby congress, and write our laws, have corrupted congress, and the Executive branch.  They buy campaigns, they buy elections, and the WRITE THE LAWS. Nick Johnson, an FCC commissioner from forty years ago, said that the problem is not that businessmen break the laws, GOD KNOWS they do, the problem is  that they WRITE THE LAWS and they BUY legislators.  The concentrated wealth that this movement is focusing attention on for the first time, has corrupted our democracy, and these young people want to get OUR democracy back…” Thank you Mr. Ellsberg and Happy Thanksgiving to you sir, and a Happy Thanksgiving to everyone I know, here in the United States as well as in Europe, may you have a wonderful day and week end, keeping clear, God willing, of any of those FOX NEWS wooden nickles, but, I wish them a Happy Thanksgiving anyhow, for they too have a right to say whatever they are going to say, but we, by the same token, reserve the right to question and reject you when you are purposely lying to our face!  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M

Hyannis Port Thanks!

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 12:24 pm

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the windy, warm, rainy island of Nantucket!  Great to be with you on this Wednesday morning, the twenty-third day of November, 2011, the day before our country celebrates Thanksgiving, a rainy, warm, windy day at that here on Cape, as that weather system from the Midwest moves on through the area, drenching this little sand bar created by the Last Great Ice Age over 11,500 years ago with pounding rains and heavy winds…gobble, gobble. Yes, on this day before we give thanks to the Lord above for this thing called ‘Life’, and all of the abundance WE all share in that LIFE, even the coyote, who I just saw a few moments ago crossing Ocean View Avenue here in Cotuit, deserves to be a part of the experience, proving that wilderness still exists, even though man seems to have his heart set against it… Yes, on this day before all of that, a little ray of sunshine by way of something this country’s ‘leaders’ have misplaced, misused, manipulated, shredded, ignored and made illegal, a little something called ‘the TRUTH’, as WE all attempt to answer the question on every one’s minds these days, ‘…why have the now over 4000 arrests since the “Occupy Wall Street” began 68 days ago today, why has this been so UNDER-reported?  Why?” Because the government, a government presumably ‘of, by and FOR the people’ (now clearly not now, thanks in large part to George W. Bush’s giant Homeland Security apparatus, you know, with all of that illegal wiretapping and all), composed, comprised and compromised, in part, by the Justice Department, along with the FBI, yes, the government has coordinated with police forces around the country, training, militarizing, and directing them to squash this movement by all non-lethal (for now) means possible, as the corporate owned media is told to keep it’s collective mouths shut.  Literally not only taking away the First Amendment rights afforded to US ALL, by way of beating and battering innocent, peaceful, intelligent, compassionate protesters, who are merely asking for a FAIR shake, but, moreover, and even more egregious than that, if that is possible, stampeding on the rights of real, professional journalists, from around the world, sorry about that French reporter, who are merely there, by definition of what a journalist IS, to get the FACTS and report them as such, you know, the old fashioned way, ‘getting the story by earning it!’… These Gestapo like tactics are being employed all over the country, from Oakland to Denver, from Los Angeles to New York, Binghamton to Boston, yes, these tactics are being employed from our own government, from ‘on high’ as it were, thus attempting the impossible in a free democracy, the attempt to take away the God given rights of journalists, photographers, and possibly all artists really, from using those God given gifts for GOOD, using them in any way they deem appropriate for that matter, you know being a free country and all–“this isn’t Russia Danny?  Is it?  No, no, this isn’t Russia…” (credit the great Chevy Chase and the classic film ‘Caddyshack’)–and being a free country, this all seems to fly in the face of those actions, under reported actions by the mass Homeland Security police forces our country now has in place at present… ACTUNG BABY! Isn’t using your God given gifts in any way you choose the very definition of our nation, or did I miss something in my history classes at the University of Vermont? On “Countdown, with Keith Olbermann”, airing every weeknight, only on CURRENT TV, at 8 p.m., EDT, LIVE, and again at 11 p.m., 2 a.m., 7, noon and three the next day) last night, David Schuster, doing a fine job of filling in for Keith, had, as his guest, the great Jonathon Turley, Constitutional Law professor at George Washington University, who spoke to the history of these Gestapo like tactics, employed now en masse, across this nation, by the likes of the NYPD, U.C. Davis campus police, the Oakland police, among others, highlighted by seacapecod.net in particular for their abuse of their LIMITED power to ‘protect and serve’…, while they pepper spray yet another 84 year old woman!   Yes, Jonathon paints a bleak picture of this past decade, as it spills out into this one, speaking to the mass arrests of protesters a little over a decade ago, where they too were badly beaten, brutalized and squashed, in Washington D.C., like a bug, silencing that voice that dares speak out against a system that is rigged at best, and criminal at worst.  Arrested, pepper sprayed, beaten with a baton, face slam dunked into the cement, you name it, all the price paid for the Constitutional RIGHT to speak out against tyranny, be it foreign or domestic, speaking out against that corrupt system that serves it’s own, a system that is seemingly impossible to breach, as it’s own internal security is a riddle, wrapped in a enigma, unable to assess it’s own ’self’, it’s own character, it’s own moral compass, for any REAL guidance, for that compass, like our pal Mitt, ‘corporations are people too’, Romney, shifts with the wind, never really being anchored in the fundamentals this country was founded upon, a FACT the reporters of the world will eventually get to the bottom OF, even if it takes some more in the way of police brutality…God forbid!   Even as a casual observer, one must ask the fundamental question, ‘what is their end game?’. Seems like the answer to that question is fairly obvious, especially if one simply connects all of the dots, going all the way back, just for starters, to the beginning of the Reagan administration, but, as we all know, it goes back at least twenty years before that–this ideology, this stain on the true essence of what America really is, what it stands for and where it is headed.  That is the rub, that line in the proverbial ’sands of time’, wherein, on the one hand, you have a group of powerful plutocrats who have decided that they are, in the words of Grover Norquist, ‘going to shrink government down to the size where I could drown it in a bath tub…’, nice, but, of course, the government he speaks of includes all of the social program victories over the past eighty or so years, achieved by the other side of that same coin, what those republicans hate the most, welfare or kindness of any kind, or what we have today, thanks to victories from the past, ‘the welfare state’… Victories for the people such as Social Security, set up by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt in the 1930’s, set up to ‘keep seniors out of the cold’, then going on to Medicare, signed into LAW by then President Lyndon B. Johnson, in 1965, a medical program, affordable, for those seniors, Americans who have reached retirement age and, as such, are now cared for by a very effective government program that, again, ‘keeps those seniors healthy and out of the cold…’, while in that same decade Civil Rights were finally passed for African Americans and other minorities, with Women’s Rights following suit by way of Roe v. Wade, bringing this country out of the dark ages of bigotry, rampant hate, fear mongering, run away greed and the like.  Those are the ‘victories’, really, just basic common human decency, the republicans, the work horses of this plutocratic vision, want to ‘repeal’, bringing this country back into the 19th century, you know, the enlightened era where the ‘welfare’ state did not exist, where we just allowed people to ‘die on the vine’, calling it ‘the opportunity state’ instead…  Opportunity for whom my dear brothers and sisters? Opportunity, as a tiny, tiny example of a much larger problem, yes, opportunity for that young college graduate?, who, because of the dismantling of education in this country, making it a ‘for profit model’, is 100 thousand dollars in debt and cannot BUY a job?, for she does not have the right connections?, the right resume?, well, you get the picture, and not, Newt, because she has not bathed lately or because she lacks a ‘work ethic’ (Google Newt Gingrich ‘old congressional tapes from the 1990’s, very scary indeed!), no, it is BECAUSE she was born on the wrong side of the proverbial tracks!!, and sees no way out, just as her brethren on the U.C. Davis campus ’see it’, as that group of brave students earned the ‘face’ of this “Occupy” movement thus far, showing, just as Jesus did long ago against another corrupt oligarchy, the Roman Empire began to crumble, that peaceful protests, as it were, are far more powerful and moreover, remembered than neanderthal violence ever could be…  The ‘American People’–as evidenced by this great movement called “Occupy Wall Street”, whose seeds of origin came from the cold, snowy months of this ever growing older year, on the streets of Madison, Wisconsin, where tens of thousands of hearty Midwesterners braved the cold January winds of that fine state, to stand up for their RIGHT to collectively bargain, rights that were also won during the past eighty years or so, rights such as the rights to collectively bargain for a decent wage, the right to demand safe and decent working conditions, the right to organize in order to ‘get the vote out’ (as in recalling ‘Governor’ Scott Walker, God’s speed Wisconsinites!), rising up against the GOP machine, funded by David and Charles KOCH (polluters extraordinaire) among others, that wishes to do away with the welfare state and replace it with this ‘opportunity state’ wherein the likes of that ‘brother’s Koch’ can destroy our drinking water forever, as they pad their filthy wallets with money they do not deserve–yes, the American people are beginning to WAKE UP to reality, and although it looks ugly, are also waking up to the FACT that they can, collectively, do something about it.  However, someone has to report on it for those people to have the opportunity to wake up to it, hence a letter that was written yesterday by the press at large, comprised of the New York Times, the New York Post, the Daily News, Dow Jones Incorporated, Thompson-Reuters, NBC Universal, among others, wherein it insisted, in that letter that was delivered to the desk of NYPD commissioner Ray Kelly, on a meeting with that police chief, who must respond to the FACT “…that police actions of this past week against the press have been more hostile than in recent memory…”, citing these complaints a) the press has been identified, segregated and kept from viewing and photographing.  b) restricted to ‘press pen’, and away from the action (can some say Stallack 13?, sure, I knew that you could, achtung baby!), and finally c)  numerous incidents where police officers struck or intentionally impeded photographers…  Sounds like Nazi Germany to me!  Yes, ‘velcome to pre-world war II Germany young journalism grad student!  Here is a list of things you cannot say, report on, photograph or communicate in any way, that is, if you want to see your family again…  All done, I might add, and I quote our dear leader Mayor Mike Bloomberg, “to keep reporters away from Zuccotti park and the like FOR THEIR OWN SAFETY…” Thanks Mike, and Happy Thanksgiving!  Have a nice long week end folks, Happy Thanksgiving, although we will, here at seacapecod.net, be back in the a.m., same bat time, same bat channel, again, not to be confused with the bat $hit station of FOX NEWS, where they believe that not only is a pizza is a vegetable, but that pepper spray is actually a good source of calcium, vitamins, minerals as well as an excellent anti-oxident! Praise be the Lord! PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M

Ocean View Centerpiece

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 10:30 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the sunny, gorgeous island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Tuesday morning, the twenty-second day of November, 2011, a beauty on tap for New England all day, as the sun is out in full force with little to no wind, a far cry of what it will be like in the next forty eight hours, as a large low pressure system that is spinning out in the Midwest will eventually bring snows to Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine, with heavy rains hitting us down here on Cape Cod and the islands of Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket, just in time for turkey day, although, apart from traveling, is not really all that big a deal, it’s simply rain, a mere meteorological event…  The criticism of our police forces around the nation is now raining down from on high, as the backlash of what happened this past weekend on the University of California at Davis campus, where police in riot gear pepper sprayed, point blank, students who were as threatening as the kitty pictures this reporter tends to put on the site from time to time.  Lt. John Pike, of the U.C. Davis police brute brigade was the man, if you Google ‘UC Davis student pepper sprayed‘, who did most of the damage, as he boastfully, and bravely told a few of the students that if they did not move, he would, ‘kill them’, as he pointed a gun at one of their heads, a gun with rubber bullets in it, and then, according to a student eye witness, another officer said, ‘don’t worry about it, I’ll dust ‘em’, meaning, he would, as he did, take a large canister out, filled with the chemicals that blind, cause intense pain, and, sometimes, even death, point it directly at peaceful babies, and blast away, grinning while he is doing it, blasting away, sometimes from behind, literally painting the faces of these children some kind of orange color, going up and down the line, not once, not twice, but three times, hitting all of them with the spray again and again, leaving them all of their faces discolored as the police thugs arrested the students now screaming out in agony.  It was the single creepiest event thus far from all of the ‘Occupy’ footage this reporter has seen…absolutely HORRIFIC!!!  One of the students who was pepper sprayed appeared on ‘The ED SHOW’, only on MSNBC, last night, his name David Buscho, and he gave a detailed description of what I just relayed to you, offering chilling details of the nature of the officer and his almost uncanny like ‘duck to water’ take to the use of pepper spray, it was if he ENJOYED it.  Said Buscho, “I wish I could have asked him why he did it, I think we need a psychological analysis of this officer…” Nathan Brown, a U.C. Davis professor said this of the brave student protesters, ‘they are my heroes…’. According to Brown, this is nothing new, as in 2009, students were beaten, some badly by police, as they peacefully protested the continued tuition hikes that are crippling students with massive debt, debt they can’t repay because there are NO JOBS out there, thanks to the new global plutocratic economy that serves that one percent, while it takes a massive dump on the rest of the population.  The OCCUPY beat goes on… Meanwhile, back at the bat cave, I mean, back in Washington D.C., the ’super, duper, dumpster baby committee’ failed the American population, not a surprise, due mostly because of what Alan Simpson called, ‘the most powerful man in America today’, Grover Norquist and his blood pledge of ‘no new taxes…’, a pledge that keeps republican law makers in check, by gun point, disallowing any new taxes, and if they do, they will be primaried, but good, destroyed by the republican money machine, thanks to Citizens United, bringing down more good men and women who truly do want to make a difference in their communities, the country and the world at large.  It was comical this morning to get a read on the corporate owned airwaves, CURRENT TV excluded, and for the most part MSNBC as well, but when I heard the ‘phone it in’ Joe Scarborough, a host on “Morning Joe”, take on the failure of the debt committee to do anything, as they were steered way off track with most republicans thinking it was a ‘tax cutting committee’, to tackle our budget woes, moreover, when he began defending the ‘man with the plan’, and I quote Mr. Scarborough, ‘Grover Norquist is a straw man, he has no power…’ , this reporter was left speechless.  Now I know that Joe parties with Norquist on Nantucket, so it is not all that surprising he would defend his conservative pal on national television.  However, it takes something away from your ever growing credibility Joe, come on brother, you are better than that!  Grover Norquist has a different agenda than your average compassionate human being, namely to bring this country back, all the way back to the eighties, not the 1980’s, but the 1880’s, where women had little to NO rights, minorities were treated like scum, and the old people were (as Franklin Delano Roosevelt once said of Social Security, ’seniors were no longer left out in the cold’) left out in that cold, as in old Grover’s new old world, throwing those seniors back out into the snow bank, left to die alone, cold and without dignity.  If Grove had his way, there would be no Medicare for those seniors either, leaving them to the Emergency room for their high blood pressure medication?  No money for roads, bridges, high speed rail either, you can suck it China, we, the United States of Grover and the plutocrats he reports to, are heading back to the stone ages, where we drag our women around by the hair and carry around a big stick to pound our opponents to bits.  “Me John, big tree!” (credit the classic film, AIRPLANE!)  So the beat goes on, as we listen to ‘men’ like Newt Gingrich spew his many lies, looking more like Saruman from the J.R.R. Tolkien trilogy, “The Lord of the Rings”, where his voice, even though it seems plausible and non-threatening, is actually passive aggressive and mean spirited, filled with hypocrisy that rises up to Heaven and is rejected outright, leaving old Newt looking more like a washed up used car salesmen than a plausible candidate for the highest office in the land.  Last, but certainly not least, see that, I buried the lead, Keith Olbermann, of ‘Countdown, with Keith Olbermann’, airing every weeknight at eight p.m., EDT, only on, Current TV had, as his guest, none other than Debra Winger, the great actress, as well as the film maker Josh Fox, creator of an HBO original ‘Gas Land’, an enormously important film about the explosion of hydraulic fracturing of shale rock in 34 states now, soon to be at New York City’s doorstep, as Halliburton, Koch and the like have big plans for the Delaware River Gap, the Delaware River basin in particular, where a giant shale formation has been discovered.  However, the big plans to drill, baby drill have been put on hold, for the moment, as President Obama’s input may put it either out of reach for the giant polluters, or within, depending upon his mood I guess, come ON OBAMA!  It is rare that seacapecod.net gets ‘all up in your grill’, but seriously, like the XL Keystone Pipeline, the horrible tar sands from Canada project to doom our world, ‘if it goes through it’s lights out for the environment’ (credit every real, worth his or her salt, environmental scientist on the planet), yes, this Dick Cheney special (Google Halliburton loophole of 2005) will destroy our drinking water, our farmland, our wildlife and our people, as it is not safe, as advertised, and moreover, not regulated AT ALL, for the giant, powerful polluters won’t allow inspections, because the EPA is now toothless, of the over 596 deadly chemicals put into our MOTHER EARTH, with it’s impact on the environment being irreversible, meaning, our clean, GOD GIVEN water will be soiled forever, just so these a$$holes can make money off, hand over fist, off of raping and pillaging OUR lands, making everyone sick and dying in the process! This is an OUTRAGE and will not be tolerated! WAKE UP AMERICA! Please Google ‘Delaware River Basin’, and see what we are talking about here, please, New York City residents, do your part!  and God Bless you all~   Have a nice day folks, as I will return tomorrow, same bat time, same bat station, not to be confused with the bat $hit crazy stations all across the country carrying Rupert, ‘arrrrrrgggghhhhh matie’, Murdoch’s FOX NEWS’ flag, as they take one more dump on the collective ‘American people’s’ head.  We love you Mitch!!!  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M

Cape Cod Carpet

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 10:53 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the cold, dark island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Monday morning, five a.m., the twenty-first day of November, 2011, and, per the song sang on Saturday Night Live this past week end, by “Florence and the Machine”,‘it is always the darkest, before the dawn…so what the hell.’ Yes, what the hell indeed.  What the hell were we thinking when WE, collectively as a nation, fell asleep at the switch and allowed a non-benevolent ruling class to literally take over the entire system of government that was set up long ago, set up by far wiser men than ‘lead’ today, all set up in the spirit ‘of the people, by the people and for the people…’, for, as WE all know by now, this nation is NOT run by the people, nor is it a system FOR the people, and, at present, is most assuredly not OF the PEOPLE, unless the ‘people’ have suddenly become a grouping of 300 million or so souls who are now quite masochistic in nature, bowing down to their ‘masters’, those who have sadistic tendencies in this sad polar extreme opposite of a very real example of how to attempt to ‘fix’ something that was never broken in the first place, such as with Social Security and Medicare, the Environmental Protection Agency or Planned Parenthood…, they are all the same as in they are all programs designed FOR THE PEOPLE, not the blood thirsty global corporate ‘for profit’ model, the ‘new norm’ that has spread like a cancer across this planet, sparking the ‘uprisings’ you see on the streets of not only Cairo today, mirroring what may be to come, but also on the streets of New York City, Denver, Oakland, Los Angeles, Portland, Columbus, Madison, Boston, well, take your pick.  The backlash, however, to this very natural and human response to a system that is clearly corrupt and in many cases, criminal, has been created by those in power with a strong resistance that is well orchestrated by our own government, ironically, the government ‘of the people’, George W. Bush’s, giant HOMELAND SECURITY, along with the Justice Department and the FBI, have been employed to help out the various police departments all across the nation, police departments that have been directed and trained to become increasingly militarized and violent, in this quelling of protests, using Gestapo like tactics, along with the now infamous pepper spray that borders on the criminally insane.  Take for instance, and I implore you and yours to take a “GOOGLE”, gobble gobble, at this one, the actions of campus police officers yesterday at the University of California at Davis, home to the best Vet school in the country by the way, where they pepper sprayed innocent students at point blank range, looking more like an execution than a police officer taking action against those ‘dangerous, violent, filthy, tree huggin’, liberal hippy bastards’… The image is of a peaceful grassy ‘knoll’, if you will, with healthy, well dressed students sitting down in a peaceful protest of what our country has allowed for the past forty years, namely, the GRAND CANYON gap between the haves and have nots, represented in that gap between ‘the numbers’ (numbers don’t LIE, unlike our ‘friends’ Mitch, Paul and Eric), such as 278 percent versus near O.  The former number representing the percentage the top one percent incomes have increased during those decades, all due not to hard work, as Senator Jon Kyl (R-AZ) would have you believe, but due in part to a system that is only accessible to an elite few, blocking the majority of people, subtly, from achieving ‘the American dream’, while the latter, the number 0, represents the percentage the vanishing middle class, now the working poor, saw their wages increase, yes, that’s right, their wages increased, as opposed to their brothers and sisters in the top one percent, since 1979, by 0!  All while productivity is at an all time high, interest rates have never been lower, and the only people who are making money are the speculators, the energy companies and the investments banks who give their costumers bad advice and then bet against them–sounds like America to me!  Where do I sign up?  Can I really be a young republican?  Please?  Good Jesus help US!  I loved Newt Gingrich’s comment about the ‘Occupy Wall Street’ movement yesterday, when he said, ‘before these bums go out and get a job, they should first take a bath…’, what, get a job like the lobbying job you had with Freddi Mac, wherein your historical ‘advice’ brought in 1.6 million bucks or so?  All while that same housing lender, along with the banks making the bets, almost brought the U.S. and world economies to a stand still?  Is that the kind of employment you offer NEWT?! Be careful son, or you may just get your wish and some witch out there does indeed turn you into that small, amphibian, who lives under dead logs, eats bugs and, wait moment, I really cannot make one out from the other…god help us, we are being taken over by cold blooded reptiles, or amphibians in old “Newt’s” case!  As Paul Krugman, Princetown University professor and notable economist, one of this correspondent’s favorites along with Robert Reich of Berkeley, as well as a few others, said this on ABC’s ‘This Week, with Christiane Amanpour’ yesterday of certain members of congress who do their master’s (plutocrats) bidding–‘they are clowns and fools’, bringing this whole thing to the light of day, you know, the TRUTH, and allowing the rest of the people of this great land to stand up, take notice and vote their conscience in 2012.  The “American People”, that has been coined a talking point, or a well rehearsed line the republicans use to put the AMERICAN PEOPLE into some kind of a trance, to get them ‘thinking’ these nice men in suits really care about them, are not stupid, as they learn of the push forward legislation that does not have the general populations’ best interests in mind, putting up yet another ‘natural gas well’ that will poision you and your families’ drinking water, along with the air you breathe, with the ‘brother’s KOCH’s’, 596 deadly chemicals, chemicals used in the ‘fracking’ of shale rock to attain natural gas that makes these monsters richer than God, all while it DESTROYS our fresh water, clean water around the country, killing our beautiful wildlife along with making people really, really sick, something “the BROTHER’S KOCH” don’t want you to know about, while they fund ‘Americans for Prosperity’, the fake grass roots ‘tea party movement’ that is designed to finish the job of completely pulling the wool over the collective American public’s eyes, while it simultaneously pours tens of millions into republican campaign coffers all across the nation (thanks to Citizens United making corporations ‘people’), all done in order to create a more perfect union between corporate interests and the U.S. government, really now one in the same.  So as Grover Norquist’s, the hit man for the plutocrats who own the republican agenda in D.C., plan to bleed our country dry of revenue, thus, creating that plutocracy that ‘could drown said government in a bathtub’, via his ‘no new tax pledge’, designed not by old Grove, but by guys such as David and Charles Koch, the ’super committee’ is doomed to fail in reaching a budget compromise (1.2 trillion) with the democrats who are bending over backwards once again (as in cutting at least 3 to one revenue, but republicans refuse to give in on allowing those temporary, to begin with, tax cuts of 2001, 2003, by then President George W. Bush, reducing the deficit by trillions right off the bat, tax increases the very richest among US can most definitely afford), in this never ending game of ‘who give a shit less about the American people, our Constitution and the Environment at large’, with all of these actions culminating in ever more of those American people taking to the streets in the days to come, via the OCCUPY THIS! movement, crying out for social JUSTICE, income equality and a system that serves the PEOPLE of this great nation, just as much as it does the super elite.  When you have a clown like Kyl of Arizona saying, ‘money doesn’t grow on trees, and those down at Occupy should not expect to get any’, well, you just want to haul off and slap his silly little face, for in a RIGGED system you can’t help but WIN, thus, creating a ‘loser’ in 99 percent of the American people who now work two, three jobs just to keep their heads above water, as the seas slowly rise, paying 440 percent to loan sharks who call themselves ‘payday lenders’, living in FEAR 24/7 of bill collectors and the like, who ‘keep the masses down’, and, like the now militarized police forces across the nation, are employed by the super-elite to keep that rabble down, demonizing them on the propaganda stations like FOX NEWS, a.k.a. Gerbils, and creating a new caste system that is fail safe, meaning the game is already over, in their minds, and the ‘good guys’ won.  However, 300 million people is a big number, and, with a little help from above, may just rise up and squash these thieves for good, calling out big polluters like KOCH, Halliburton and bp, calling them out for who and what they are, shaming them into some kind of sanity, for in the end, as the seas continue to rise, these ‘men’ will be long gone, leaving a sad legacy behind them, a legacy that no one will sing about, or care about, save the historians like myself, who will keep all of their ill fated ”DEEDS” well documented for all the WORLD TO SEA! Have a wonderful week ahead folks and keep on dodging those wooden nickles offered up by FOX NEWS, the, as Keith Olbermann, of “Countdown, with Keith Olbermann”, airing every week night at 8 p.m., EDT, LIVE, re-airing again at 11, 2 a.m., 7 a.m., noon and three the next day, only on CURRENT TV, the best journalism out there right now, likes to say, ‘the political whorehouse that IS FOX NEWS’, for ‘they ‘ain’t sellin’ any alibis, as you stare into the collective vacuum of their beady, little, mean spirited eyes!’ PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M

New England Stroll…

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 8:55 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the sunny, cool island of Nantucket! Great to be back with you on this Saturday morning, the nineteenth day of November, 2011, a stunningly beautiful morning at that, as the sun just rose, to the east this time, pushing the stars back into their place of night, being out in full force only moments ago, with a crescent shaped moon above the calm, cool waters of Cotuit Bay, as one looks out onto Oyster Harbors and ‘the Mariners Lodge’ in the little town of Cotuit, where the trees grow wide and tall, ‘where the old world shadows hang, heavy in the air…’ (credit Don Henley and the great band ‘The Eagles’).  After the incredible action in New York City yesterday, with the ‘dead’ OCCUPY movement and all, ever growing in size, exploded with mass protests that spanned the Brooklyn Bridge with tens of thousands of average American citizens who are crying out in unison, ‘WE have got your number, and OUR number 99 is much bigger than your number 1!’, I take a deep breath and await the OCCUPY CONGRESS, slated for December 5-9–so stay tuned! same bat time, same bat station!…gosh darn Batman movies! The whole of the nation, much to the chagrin of Rupert Murdoch and the ‘brother’s Koch’, is WAKING up to the numbers (numbers don’t lie) that tell the sad tale of desperate rich folk (certainly not all, but a sick, greedy few, who, like most bullies, usually get their way), who have lost their way, their minds and possibly, many of them, their soul.  For you see, this all did not happen last night.  This slow boil began way back before Ronald Reagan, who was initially most definitely a puppet of sorts to Donald Regan (former Treasury Secretary ‘under Reagan’ and CEO of Merrill Lynch), but that’s another story for another day, yes, before Ronald Reagan their was Milton Friedman, and if you know anything, “I’m talking to you Bill O’Reilly”, you clown!, about Miltonian economics, and I encourage you to explore it for yourself on the ‘Google’, you will know that this ‘experiment’ that is transpiring right now under our noses (the hijacking of the REAL United States of AMERICA), but, thanks to this movement, not for long, has been attempted before, in the 1950’s, where a plutocratic, militarized government was ’set up’ in Chile by OUR government, ’set up’ by a number of carefully orchestrated “shocks” to the economic and social system, upsetting the apple cart as it were, and erecting an Orwellian state run by brutal dictators whose only goal is to create profit for the ruling plutocracy, while simultaneously keeping the now majority, poor, enslaved and in FEAR, while putting people who spoke out against the corruption in secret prisons, or just plain killing them on sight…sound familiar?  ACHTUNG BABY! That is, in a nutshell, what is going on right now in these ‘here United States of America’… The entire system is corrupt, from the Mayor of New York (hi Mike!  You Knucklehead!), to the beat cop, from the boardroom of Goldman Sachs, to the lowest corporate stooge on the payroll.  Of course that is a dramatization, for we all know it is not completely corrupt, for it does have human beings working within it’s constraints, however, it IS corrupt from the top down, believe me, I was there, and thus, as with a fish, it stinks from the head on down.  It is the ultimate pyramid scheme, mostly on Wall Street, which represents the epicenter of fiscal judgement, trading and most of all speculation of the massive corporate conglomerations that are global in nature, caring nothing, of course, for the common man or woman in this country…wherein our own elected congressman and Senators, some, get rich on stock tips only provided to those aforementioned folks, as they talk out of the other side of their collective mouths to the American People about who is to blame for this ‘mess’, yes, ‘the American People’, who have become a talking point, and, behind their backs at the country clubs, a laughing stock of ‘men’ like Mitch, “I’m sorry, I’m going back to the mouse, ’cause that’s what he is, a rodent”, McConnell (R-KY), Paul, “suck it”, Ryan (R-WI) and the rest of the ‘young gun’ Hitler youth who are all scurrying about wondering who is going to be their next King. Give me a f$%cking break already. OCCUPY could not, on a brighter note, have received a better endorsement than the one it received from our own Bill O’Reilly, of FOX NEWS, when he called the movement ‘dead’.  Thank you Bill, and by the way, I call you ‘our own’ because no one else would claim such a sorry sack of $hit as you most truly are…the cosmos forgives you and prays for your deliverance from your own vicious, multi personality ego soon.  Have a nice day folks and keep on dodging those horrible, rancid, poisonous wooden nickles from your ‘friends’ over at the FIXED (credit Keith Olbermann of “Countdown, with Keith Olbermann”, airing every weeknight at 8 p.m., EDT, and again at 11, 2 a.m., 7 a.m., noon and three p.m. the next day, only on CURRENT TV, the best real news coverage of this historic OCCUPY movement out there today, and tomorrow!) NEWS, none of them are ’sellin any alibis, as you stare in the collective VACUUM of their eyes…’ PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M

Windows on Water

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 7:36 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the cold, starry island of Nantucket!  Great to be with you on this very early five a.m. hour, a Friday morning, the eighteenth day of November, 2011, LIVE from Cape Cod proper, a cold morning at that, with temperatures finally beginning to feel a whole lot more like the Holiday season that is quickly making ground, as we notice all of the Christmas decor at our local shopping venues…ho, ho, ho! Is that not right Mayor Bloomberg?  Christmas is a big season for your tourists, is it not?  Perhaps “Occupy this!”, well, actually “Occupy Wall Street”, will throw a monkey wrench into those plans, as the ‘filthy, hippy, tree huggin’, now broadly supported global movement (from ALL walks of LIFE), has proved that these ‘Who’s of Who ville’ cannot be stopped, even as you steal their collective Christmas tree with all of it’s trimmings, for the hour is upon US to stand up and fight these lunatics before they completely take over our fragile democracy, a democracy that needs to be nurtured and cared for in order to thrive, just like any living organism, which a democracy with a little letter ‘d’ truly is, as evidenced by the tens of thousands of protesters who showed up yesterday in New York City, marching down Broadway and across the Brooklyn Bridge, some estimates of 35,000 people at the eight o’clock hour, with police cracking down hard, brutally in some cases, where a man was led away in hand cuffs with blood all over his face.  “Occupy”, L.A., Chicago, Portland, Oakland, Berkeley, just to name a few joined in the fun yesterday, although most would not call this ‘fun’, but a necessity to fight back against a system that acts as a cancer upon it’s host, stealing all of the ‘bodies’ nutrients and giving back nothing in return.  We see the likes of a FOX “NEWS” show rodeo clown like Bill O’Reilly desperately spewing ever more NON sense , such as the statement he made yesterday, ‘the Occupy movement is dead’, in an attempt to pull the wool over the eyes of his over medicated, Kool-Aid drinkin’, sad audience, an audience who must be blind and deaf to what will be the beginning of the end of this high fiance takeover of the United States of America.  Dead?  Dead like Rock and Roll, Jesus Christ and the love I have for my grandmother, yeah, dead like that Bill?  You are a fool and a drunk.  Just like most of the cowards who live and breathe in Washington D.C., the puppets of Capitol Hill, all in lockstep with what has to be considered a real hijacking of this 237 year old democracy, the heat in the kitchen will be too much for most of them to bear, as this fever gets hotter and hotter, with that temperature, like the weather outside, going up even further, as we move forward into this epic 2012 election.  The republican party, a misnomer, is actually the organization that is dead, for that party of Abraham Lincoln, and dare I say Ronald Reagan in the same breath, is long gone, replaced with this rag tag grouping of yes men and women who do their masters bidding, even to the point of pepper spraying eighty four year old women! (Kudos to the mayor of Seattle for apologizing to Dorli Rainey, who was that woman, God Bless her!).  The best sign I have read thus far from the incredible still photos collected from yesterday’s massive march in New York City, protesting this coup by corporate blood sucking vampires, was, without a doubt, “Ideas are bulletproof”, proving that the ‘Who’s of Who ville’, (credit Dr. Seuss and “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas”, wherein the evil, heartless, soul less ‘grinch’ stole all of the citizens of Who ville’s collective Christmas presents, sadistically praying they would come out of their houses early that Christmas morning devastated and disappointed, but, much to his surprise, they all gathered around the town Christmas tree, held hands in a circle and began singing), are not the only Who’s in Who ville, these young students are as well, who bring the ENERGY behind CHANGE that WILL happen, proving that they too can rise above this insane system of greed that WE have Current(v)ly have today, ever crying out the corporate mantra, PROFIT OVER PEOPLE, coupled with that noble blind hypocrisy, intimidation and sadism, hold hands and bring forth the IDEAS that will revolutionize this country into ACTION, waking people up from their illusions and dreams, evoking an ACKNOWLEDGEMENT that 99 percent is more than 1 percent! Have a nice week end folks and keep on keeping on, persistence is the name of the game and with the combination of integrity and the force of GOOD behind you, there is NOTHING you and your brothers and sisters cannot accomplish!  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M

Divine Help

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the foggy, drizzly island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Thursday morning, the seventeenth day of November, 2011, a grey, cool 5 a.m. start to the ‘morn here on Cape, as we attempt to dry out after a soaking rain day yesterday, saturating the area with up to an inch and a half, while the south saw tornadoes from Georgia to North Carolina, with Louisiana, I believe, seeing 17 of those scary storms that are rare this late in the year…  In roughly a half hour, right in the heart of Wall Street, the “Occupy Wall Street” rally for JUSTICE on all fronts, will make it’s voice known once again to the world at large, as that world participates as well, from Madrid to London, with a giant rally scheduled to begin, as noted, around 7 a.m in New York City, in a massive walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, where at least 1000 protesters are expected to be arrested, marching down the dark and sometimes gloomy concrete canyons of that fabled city of immigrants, demanding some answers to the even more daunting ‘Grand Canyon’ between the haves and the have nots in this great land of OURS, marching alone, as the corporate media, for the most part, gives them the finger.  Robert Reich, noted professor at the University of California at Berkeley, and personal hero of this reporter, held a rally and gave an important speech to 3500 students in and around the Mario Savio steps at UC Berkeley Tuesday night, steps named and dedicated after and to the noted student activist, or ‘agitator’ as they called them back then, ‘…you’re not one of ‘dem agitators are ya?’ (credit the classic film from that same era, speaking to the same sentiments, ‘The Graduate’, starring the incomparable Dustin Hoffman), who spoke out in 1964 to what we are still dealing with today–namely, mind control and corporate domination of OUR democracy, democracy with a little letter ‘d’. But, we won’t get into all of that at present, save to say that Mr. Savio was on to something then, God Bless his little hippy, tree huggin’ soul, even though he looked more like a third year law student at Columbia, as Robert Reich, author of “Aftershock, the next economy and America’s future, does today.  The ’system’, has always, at least in the past fifty years or so, favored the top one percent in this country, while it has been extremely slow in addressing women’s rights, minority rights, environmental issues, and civil rights in general, and with this new crop of ‘not your grandfather’s GOP’ candidates vying to become our next ‘leader’, we seem to be going backwards as a nation, not forwards, take reproductive rights as an issue alone and you will come to the same conclusion as I.  That is what this movement is all about, WAKING people up to reality and dismissing the illusion offered up by plutocrats who use smoke and mirrors to fool most of the people all of the time, while we see our whole environment go up in a ball of fire.  “Nothing to see here folks,” the nice NYPD officer says to the passers by whose mouths are agape with horror, as they witness those, ‘nice police men’, bashing the heads of protesters in, pepper spraying elderly women, like the eighty year old woman on “Countdown, with Keith Olbermann” last night, airing every week night at 8 p.m., EDT (re-airing at 11 p.m., 2 a.m., 7, noon and three the next day), only on CURRENT TV, who spoke for a good half hour it seemed, thank you Keith!, speaking of what is really going on with the ’system’, yes sir, and madame, speaking volumes about the ‘fluff’ as well as the constant, blatant LIES/propaganda on television, are you listening FOX?, while few tell the TRUE tale, as she recounted her horrific encounter with the Seattle police department, who, like their fellow officers in blue all across the country, are now militarized and following orders from Homeland Security and the Justice Department–still using pepper spray, batons and other gestapo tactics, as they did with her, by the bucket and thus, ironically offering, by way of their barbaric actions, more to HELP this great cause than harm to it.  God Speed Ms. Dorli Rainey of Seattle, Washington!  You are an inspiration and a reason for this reporter to keep on getting up in the morning, thank you and have a nice Thanksgiving!  In case you missed this interview, a must see, assuming you have any feelings left for this great union of OURS, please look at the posted schedule already listed above for Keith’s show from last night…and watch it, you WILL see something you did not see before.  I have gone on long enough this morning, however, please keep on dodging those wooden, poisonous nickles from FOX NEWS, as always, Sean Hannity ‘ain’t sellin’ no alibis, as, again, you stare into the VACUUM of his eyes’, have a wonderful day folks and GOD’S SPEED to all of the protesters down on Wall Street this morning, this is history unfolding right before OUR very eyes, and it, ‘OCCUPY‘, represents everything that is still GOOD about this country, a country that was formed with the whole concept of ‘protest’ in mind to begin with.  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the misty island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Wednesday morning, the sixteenth day of November, 2011, a rather warm and wet one here on Cape Cod, as a weak weather disturbance allows for a little moisture to enter the picture, as it were, on this dark and drizzly 6 a.m. ‘morn, coming to you, as always, LIVE, from this little sand bar created 11,500 years ago by the Last Great Ice Age…  “Occupy Wall Street”, the ‘capitol symbol’, as of 1 a.m. yesterday morning, was effectively bulldozed and brutalized, as tents and sleeping bags were confiscated by the ‘powers that be, at the moment’ down at old Zuccotti Park in lower downtown Manhattan, in a futile attempt to quell the massive world wide protest of globally concentrated corporate rape, pillage, and mind control of a majority of people, a disturbing, subtle, intimidating, fear mongering tyranny over a so called ‘free’ people, taking that turn for either the better or worse yesterday, depending on your perspective, as police in full military swat gear raided the tent city in the park, brutally arresting 200 or so protesters, including six members of the media, The New York Times included, as camera phones captured the police bravely using their batons to batter their way through the crowd and make their vicious point–’we’, the ‘cops’, really a division of Homeland Security and the Justice Department, who, as reported on “Countdown, with Keith Olbermann”, airing every week night at 8 p.m., EDT, have orchestrated ALL of these ‘take downs’ of “Occupy”, from Oakland to Albany, Boston to Denver, from a far, thus, not indicting the Machiavellian nature of the deed, yes, ‘we’ the cops, have orders from our ‘dear leader’, Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who, if you want to know more about, please Google Keith Olbermann’s ’special comment’, on last night’s show (11-15-11), only on CURRENT TV, yes, our dear leader Mayor Bloomberg has ordered the overnight right afforded by the FIRST AMENDMENT, null and void, stating that, ‘the park has become not a place for peaceful protests, but a place where illegal activity is taking place, like people telling the truth and all, making it unsafe, blah, blah, blah…’, basically a giant LIE designed to satisfy those ‘curious minds’ of the drive by corporate media who have ignored this story for the most part to begin with, per the orders of the CEO of GE or ‘it’s’ equivalent.  It is ALL interconnected and ‘they’ know that when ‘it’ is exposed for what ‘it’ TRULY IS, then the house of cards that ‘they’ built, a ‘house built on sand’ (credit the man’s teachings via ‘their’ religion of choice, ‘Christianity’), will crumble into the ever rising seas, ever rising per the empirical forces of SCIENCE, cause and effect, Newtonian physics, ‘ya know, that carbon stuff ya’ll keep on puttin’ on up into the atmosphere, golly that’s a big word, at, mos, phere…must be one of them ten dollar words like may-on-aise...”Heeyuck!! When you have 58 percent of New York state residents indicating that they not only support what ‘Occupy’ has been doing, but, moreover, support their RIGHT to stay overnight at that park, while at the same time you have a ‘respected’ mayor, what a JOKE, sending in the calvary to save ‘US’ from all of those filthy, tree huggin’, liberal, John Denver listen’ hippy freaks, armed to the teeth with, to quote Mr. Olbermann, “Bazookas to kill mosquitoes”, well, Houston, I would say we have a big problem.  I say Mike Bloomberg, is there any history of mental illness in your family?  What’s that you say?  Your great grandfather thought he was Napoleon Bonaparte himself?  To quote Bill Murray from “Ghost Busters”, “I’d call that a big yes!” To use another line from that classic, a film that may have been more prophetic than you think, “I’m gonna send that guy a nice fruit basket…” . Like the famous battle scene of one of the best metaphor’s in modern times of ‘good versus evil’, depicted in yet, yet (what is this movie clip of the week day Mosier?) another movie reference this morning, this ‘time’ from the classic film, STAR WARS, yes, we all remember Obi Wan Kenobi facing off against Darth Vader, with the light sabers and all, yes, and that one line that sums up this whole ‘take down’ of an idea, by the use of force, have we not already done this?, when Obi Wan says to old Darth, and I paraphrase here as a respectful disclaimer to all of you Star Wars experts out there, ‘you can strike me down, but you cannot kill me, for I will come back stronger than you can possibly imagine…’ , a phrase that will come to haunt the good Mayor one day very, very soon… One of Keith’s guests last night was none other than the great film maker and activist, Michael Moore, who said these prophetic words, ‘this movement is driven by young people, and they don’t suffer fools…” TRUE as the sky is blue.  Plans B, C, D, E, etcetera ad infinitum are already well under way...phase two ENGAGE! Have a nice day folks, remembering that everything you see, hear and sometimes feel on television or, moreover, the Internet, is designed to sway your thoughts, but only YOU can control what YOU believe in your HEART, getting to that place of peace where you KNOW it to be TRUE and JUST!  Ever remembering that Mayor Mike Bloomberg, ‘our dear leader’, ‘ain’t sellin’ no alibis, as you stare into the vacuum of his eyes’, and as we all know, nature abhors a vacuum, so I’m not sure where that leaves old mike and the rest of ‘the plutocratic states of America’…gosh darn bat man movies!!! PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the again, rather warm and windy island of Nantucket!  Great to be with you and yours on this Tuesday morning, the fifteenth day of November, 2011, another mild one on Cape, as we look forward to yet another dose of ‘Indian Summer’, a term I always use with great affection and respect for the original inhabitants of this great land WE are all stewards of today, lest WE forget. Of course, that sentiment, philosophy, TRUISM is lost on the ‘powers that be’, with “Occupy Wall Street” going up in smoke very early this morning, around 1 a.m., as police began moving in on about 200 or so protesters who had gathered in Zuccotti Park overnight.  A hard core group of about 100 barricaded themselves in ‘the kitchen’, the ‘nerve center’ of the “Occupy” concept started well over two months ago in this very same park, sparking a protest that has spread to the far reaches of the globe, crying out for economic equality and social Justice, or at least the opportunity to have an opportunity, only now to be reduced to a park with more cops than protesters, a park that needs to be, in the immortal words of Ted Knight from the classic film ‘Caddyshack’, circa 1978, “scrubbed, sterilized and disinfected!” Apparently the ‘doodie’ in the country club pool was free speech and the RIGHT to peaceably assemble–protesting the FACT that the top tenth of the top one percent will not be cold this winter, but that, because of a crooked system, many millions will be, that the one percenters will have plenty to eat and drink, that they will be well cared for medically, that they will continue making money on the money they already have in a system that is so corrupt, (Wall Street, along with the banking, insurance, oil and gas, you get the picture) a system so corrupt that even members of congress are getting in on the insider trading grift where congressman actually BET on the economy going south (2008 dive), making profit on others pain.  My, my, my, how far has this flock flown from it’s original mantle of honest Abe, who was, after all, a republican!  Zuccotti park may be shut down to overnight guests, however, OCCUPY is not, nor can it be, shut out of the minds of the true AMERICAN PEOPLE, who are beginning, many kicking and screaming, to WAKE UP to reality on the ground, as the dirty water fills our collective sinks, oozing from the KOCH BROTHERS 596 deadly chemicals used in the fracking process (coming soon to the Delaware River Gap, a precious aquifer that is the source of over 15 million New York City resident’s tap water~), of attaining ‘natural gas’ (don’t believe the Madison Avenue wizard’s or their Ads saturating the airwaves, they are lying to you and your family about safety!), making money hand over fist as the environment is left to twist in the wind.  One note of optimism however, the Keystone XL pipeline, the ‘tar sands’ pipeline from Alberta, Canada to Texas, or ‘if this project goes through, it’s light’s out for the environment’ (according to any climatologist worth his or her salt–please Google Al Gore/climate change for more information), has been put on hold until this horrible election is finally over with. Hallelujah! Yes, this wicked election is a year away and yet we will have to endure 14 more of these ludicrous republican debates, mindlessly going over the same corporate handed down talking points (akin to ‘commandments handed down from the Almighty to Moses himself, except the GOP cannot find Moses, as he skipped town and is playing with some band in the great state of Vermont), while bringing up new, old ones, like Michelle Bachmann and Herman Cain’s stand on water boarding…,”how it’s not torture and all“, while we all know, especially the betting line in Dublin, KNOWS that Mitt’, ‘corporations are people too’, Romney will get the nod from the republican electorate and thus, will mount a campaign of monumental monetary proportions against a man who has done a pretty good job of digging US out of the hole that ‘W‘ built, as he sits back and spends his remaining days on planet earth convincing himself he and his administration did a good job in ‘dealing’ with a ‘goof ball like you’, i.e., ‘the American people’, the ‘little people’, the people he never did, nor ever will, have ANYTHING in common, nor any real connection with.  The rise of the corporate oligarchical system, a real plutocratic vision coming true right before OUR collective eyes, and the PROTECTION of said system, and thus, the corruption and criminality therein, could not be analogized any better than what took place on the campus of Penn State University over the past three decades.  That microcosm of the macrocosm, the ‘tip of the iceberg’ of a society that may need an enema soon, could not be more perfectly humanized than by the ‘coach’ Mr. Joe Paterno himself, who was more powerful than the ‘police’, and ran that institution as if it were his own private fiefdom, and, in light of the new Bob Costas interview with Sandusky, it would seem that this ‘institution’ should itself, be ’scrubbed, sterilized and disinfected’, shut down for an indefinite amount of time.  For these are not merely ‘player violations’, which are a joke considering the NCAA has a goldmine of free labor to exploit every year, these are little souls who have been permanently scarred by a sexual predator whose superiors just looked the other way, as it might not have been good for ‘their brand’… Is that what WE have become as a nation folks?  A group of people too afraid to stand up to these bullies, some dangerous, and say–”cut that $hit out!!! or WE will take you down, down town to CHINA TOWN!  I don’t think so, I know this nation is better than that, it is just that the vast majority in this country have had their voices muzzled for so long, they don’t ‘think’ they have one any longer, and thus, have seemingly lost hope when it is right in front of their noses!  To help kids who have been hurt by monsters like Sandusky, Google, ‘darknesstolight.org‘, providing much more useful information than this humble reporter could possibly offer, as it is just too foul to consider at this early morning hour.  May you have a good day and be at peace with yourself, for it is in being at peace with oneself, even in a world of chaos and insanity, that paradoxically, you, yes, you, bring peace into the world, bringing that ‘balance’ back into the equation that our ‘dear leader’, Mayor Bloomberg of New York City, speaks of…he is such as bright sage is he not? PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the sunny, warm island of Nantucket!  Great to be with you on this Monday morning, the fourteenth day of November, 2011, another stunning day on tap for the Cape and islands of MV and Nantucket, as the gentle southern breezes will warm the sun laden beaches into the upper 60’s, that’s Fahrenheit of course, with little change expected in the next few days…perfect weather to take in all that this most magnificent sand bar created by the Last Great Ice age over 11,500 years ago has to offer, ’so come on down and visit, we will, as always, leave the LIGHT on for ya!’. Quite a week end of non news related items, such as yet another republican debate, going over the same old nonsense, but this time, with a new rival to Mitt, “corporations are people too”, Romney, who still leads the pack with 23 percent of the vote, yes, it is our pal from the 90’s, give it up for “She turned me into a Newt”, Gingrich (credit the U.K.’s Monty Python’s Flying Circus), who uses his Masters in Medieval history to stir the wicked brew of slashing and burning, as opposed to the real life solutions of building and reforming.  As I sat and listened to “Morning Joe”, only on MSNBC, this morning, listening for some wisdom from the various pundits and moderators of such events as the most recent republican debate, all I could really come up with is, “what planet are these guys, and gal, from?”, “or, what is their end game?”.  Is it to see millions of women, children and men in the streets, literally helpless to do anything about their condition, as the system has been rigged to the point where it is now ‘Mission Impossible’ for say a struggling middle aged laid off office worker to BUY a job, as that person struggles to make ends meet with 100 bucks in food stamps every month, food stamps that someone like Paul Ryan (R-WI), wishes to do away with all together?  Is that the ‘Christian’ thing to do congressman?  Or is your brand of ‘Christianity’ of the a la carte variety?  I thought so.  It is easy to mouth the words of Jesus, the man who walked this earth over 2000 years ago, many saying the only ‘man’ to walk it who was part man, part Divine spirit, however, it is far different and noble to actually WALK his talk, especially when it flies in the face of your so called ‘family values’ and Grover Norquist’s Machiavellian ‘pledges’…  Have a nice day folks and please, should you so desire, visit OXFAM, or Google savethechildren.org, credible institutions that are dedicated to supplying food and clean water to the millions of real people affected by the great FAMINE in Eastern Africa right now–feeding and providing medical care for those fleeing the drought stricken, war ravaged country of Somalia. Thank you. PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS~! Peace~M

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the soon to be sunny island of Nantucket!  Great to be with you on this early Sunday morning, the sun’s fiery face just now making it’s presence known outside of my window on the eastern horizon, another gorgeous day here on Cape Cod and the islands of Martha’s Vineyard, as seen above in an image of Saint Elizabeths’ in Edgartown, as well as Nantucket, the little island dubbed, ‘the far away island’ by the native Indians who used to ‘own’ it.  Yes, the leaves are falling now like rain in the little sea side hamlet of Cotuit, home of seacapecod.net now, as this reporter needed to be just a little closer to the water to get the full effect of what is now happening to our environment at large–visible changes happening to the coast every year.  Cotuit is one of the oldest, if not the oldest some would say, village on Cape Cod, lying just directly west of Osterville and Hyannis Port, a town on a pennisula, with the Coutiut bay right outside of my study window, looking out onto Oyster Harbors, the private island of Osterville proper, a true high end gated community, as the bay spills out via the source of the Cotuit river, into Nantucket Sound, with Popponesset bay filling out the western half of this heavily wooden ‘old Cape’ town, spread out over many country square miles, where they role the streets up at 5 and get up, well, before the sun rises.  If Norman Rockwell were alive today, and he happened to like the ocean, he would have chosen Cotuit to live, for it’s natives are from the “Mayflower” era, holding names such as Sturgis and such, with many more simply being generational natives to the region, immigrants from various parts of the world, making a true melting pot, as it were, from the days of ‘yore, neighbor helping out neighbor, just as they did some 350 plus years before this little country was formed into the ’super power’ it is today.  Some would ask, “what’s a super power?”, and they would be met with a myriad of answers, some plausible, others not so much, spinning a lie that confirms their particular position on ‘things’, legislation designed for the ‘powers that be’ (plutocrats), by the puppets in ‘charge’ at the moment (many D.C. corrupt politicians), not for the general welfare of the common GOOD. This is what we are up against here folks, and as that rising wave and noise of “Occupy” fills the airwaves and streets over the next twelve months or so, going all the way to the election of the 45th President of the United States, WE will ALL see, hear, feel, taste and smell the TRUTH as to what has really been going on in our collective institutions, many ‘too big to fail‘, according to the architects and power brokers of said institutions.  Institutions, as in Penn State and the mafia like staff who once worked there, that failed our society, especially the most vulnerable among us, scarring them for life with predatory acts that were not only abhorrent but were also not isolated, proving the ills of society have indeed taken hold of reason, common sense and above all a sense of DUTY to protect those who cannot protect themselves.  This sickness is not isolated to the gridiron, it goes all the way to our presidential candidates, who mock the harmful treatment of another group of people in our society, women.  Yes, something does indeed stink in Denmark, stinks in a society when you have a candidate for president making light of the very serious issue of how we treat women in the workplace, laughing it off as if it were a joke at cocktail hour over at the Heritage Club. No one is laughing, Herman, ‘can I call you Herman, or do you just reserve that name for yourself when speaking ‘of’ yourself?’… Laugh it up big boy, the women who are watching the Sunday morning talk shows will not be, nor will most of the electorate, I can assure you of that.  Have a nice day folks and keep on avoiding those wooden nickles over on FOX NEWS, they are chalk full of ‘the Brother’s Koch’ 596 deadly (unregulated and secretive in their chemical structure) chemicals that are used in the ‘fracking’ of shale rock to attain ‘natural gas’, whose Madison Avenue Ads just keep on bringin’ all of that crazy horse$hit, stating, ‘they drill well below the aquifers, never spoiling the clean drinking water’, a HUGE LIE!!!, a lie of biblical proportions, as they get ready to bring their ‘fracking’ show to downtown Manhattan, that’s right, all the way to your drinking water New York City, with major plans to ‘drill’ in the Delaware Water Gap, or basin, where over 15 plus million people get their now clean, fresh water from daily.  Good Luck stormin’ the castle boys! Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the sunny island of Nantucket!  Great to be with you on this Friday morning, the eleventh day of November, 2011, a beautiful morning here on Cotuit Bay, with an almost full moon above this little sand bar created 11,500 years ago by the Last Great Ice Age, and as the stars fade away to the rising sun peaking it’s head over the watery horizon, Cape Cod and the Islands will embrace yet another perfect fall day in perhaps one of the most pristine places adorning this little blue rock WE all share, ‘occupy’ as it were… Speaking of “Occupy”, the beat goes on, as thousands of students at the University of California at Berkeley occupied the central message of this great social awakening–reform Wall Street and force special interest plutocrats like the KOCH BROTHERS to loosen their collective grip on American democracy, democracy, again, with a little letter ‘d’.  As I watched the video feed from “Countdown, with Keith Olbermann”, the fine news hour that puts the “J” back in journalism, airing every week night LIVE at 8 p.m., EDT, and again at 11 p.m., 2 a.m., 7, noon and three that next day, only on Current TV, yes, after watching Keith’s show last night I was, again, horrified by the actions of these out of control riot ‘police’, as they arrested 39 protesters after beating many with long, wooden batons, bravely beating the PEACEFUL protesters who are merely exercising their First Amendment Constitutional right to FREE SPEECH, while also evoking another RIGHT, the right to peaceably assemble.  This was just one example of many across the country yesterday, as tens of thousands marched on institutions that have FAILED the people they were erected to serve, as in Penn State, the Catholic Church, to some degree, ‘investment banks’, insurance companies, energy companies (who rape and pillage our precious resources for THEIR eternal PROFIT, not to mention the Legislative, Executive and Judicial branches of OUR government, a government that was set up by some pretty bright and ballsy guys and gals over 237 years ago, bringing LIGHT to the tyranny of their time on this planet, fighting back and designing the document that, like the Bible, is so often misinterpreted, misused and misplaced, mutilated by blind, raging, greedy hypocrites, some vicious in nature, using their ‘power’ to crush the ‘little people’ who do most of the living and dying in these ‘here parts.  Have a wonderful week end folks and keep and eye to the TRUTH, it will never steer you wrong, for it, unlike Mitch, “the turtle” (my apologies to real turtles everywhere) McConnell (R-KY), never, ever needs defending and it will ALWAYS set you free!  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the foggy, rainy island of Nantucket!  Great to be with you and yours on this Thursday morning, the tenth day of November, 2011, a grey early morning here on Cape, as the rains slowly move in for the day and presumably night as well.  Yesterday, the American people roared back into life, casting their collective votes from sea to shining sea as it were, with many responding to the extreme over reach by ‘not your grandfather’s GOP’.  Ohio voters echoing the same sentiments as Maine voters, even on different topics, roaring the same basic primal notion, namely, ‘enough is enough’, enough of the bull$hit, enough of the lies, enough of the dirty politics that only serve to hurt 99 percent of OUR PEOPLE! WE have got your number, what was it again?  Oh yeah, that’s right, “8675,309…”, a song made popular many moons ago by a band that does not come to mind presently, however, “for a good time call…”.  On the other hand, don’t call, because Ohio voters already struck down SB-5, ‘issue 2′, which was a bill that severely restricted unions to collectively bargain for wages, working conditions, and, perhaps most importantly for the 99 percenters out there, the RIGHT to organize and thus, have a voice in this increasingly muted world of politics, where MONEY talks and the “people’s ‘bull$hit walks” (credit Mitch, “the turtle”, McConnell (R-KY)…or at least that’s how the people felt  in Columbus, Ohio, as thousands appeared on “The ED SHOW”, only on MSNBC, last night, showing up in droves and shouting down the now humble governor of that state, John Kusich.  In Maine, voters struck down the voter suppression movement currently going on in twenty nine other states, striking down the notion of taking away same day registration, thus increasing the FAIRNESS elections should have within their core to begin with.  In Mississippi, voters voted down the ‘personhood’ bill that would have made it almost impossible for women to have jurisdiction over their own bodies, a bill that insisted a ‘person’ is defined the moment the sperm hits the egg (I thought these guys didn’t believe in that science stuff, what happened to the Stork concept?), while it (the bill) takes away most forms, if not all, of birth control, the single most effective tool for PREVENTING unwanted pregnancies.  Going out west, in Arizona, the author of the SB 1070 bill, the ‘ver are your papers’ bill, was fired by THE PEOPLE in a special election, by a republican!  So, perhaps, we are beginning to see the power of the people and what IS in store for someone like Mitt, “corporations are people too”, Romney, who is about to find out how much his a flippin’ and a floppin’, and back to flippin’ again, with the flop to follow shortly, yes, find out how much that sideways ‘Bain Capital speak’ works with ‘the American people’, who listen to his horse$hit rhetoric and, while nodding their collective heads in agreement?, suddenly have an epiphany, WAKE UP and say to themselves, ‘why am I voting for this clown?’, ‘he does not have my, my families, my friends, or my co-workers best interests in mind’, ‘and what is all this talk about corporations being people too, people without any responsibility or culpability?’, ‘did he just steal my wallet and ask if I needed any help in locating it?’, with many other questions coming to mind in the weeks and months ahead.  In the immortal words of our friend Rick Perry from the great state of Texas, “…we republicans want to eliminate stuff in government, I don’t remember what those three things were, but hellfire, ain’t this a hell of a day girlfriend?, take your god d&mn hands off of my maple syrup, it’s mine…”  We are going to miss old Rick, if it were not for the coyote thing he might have gone a lot farther, at least he is not a robotic flip-floppin sell out like “Mitt” Romney, the man who, if you look really carefully, could easily double as a mattress salesman or an actor on television selling another pain relief product for some pharmaceutical giant…side effects of Mitt Romney include lower wages, no health insurance, higher deficits, more wars, more bank bailouts, higher concentration of wealth amongst the top one tenth of the top one percent in the United States, more pollution, more poverty, more crime, blurred vision, nausea, and sometimes, in rare occasions, even death.  A symbolic death of ‘the American dream’, something ALL of OUR grandparents wished upon our collective PEOPLE long, long ago…  Have a wonderful day folks and remember to keep on dodging those FOX NEWS wooden nickles, for the only ‘nickles’ you should accept are those of the John Nichols variety, the fine writer of TRUTH for the Nation Magazine PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! One ’small’ Light

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 9:09 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the fogged in island of Nantucket!  Great to be with you on this Wednesday morning, the ninth day of November, 2011, yes, as already noted, a very, very foggy one on the Cape and islands, especially on Nantucket, the grand island you can see above you right now, although, this offers a ray of light, as opposed to that foggy cloud.  Brandt Point Light, the small, sturdy lighthouse that has been dubbed, ‘the lighthouse with nine lives’, because of the fact it has been blown down countless times by storm after storm over the many years of it’s existence, dating all the way back to the Continental Congress and the days of British war ships deciding on whether or not Nantucket was ‘on their side’ or not, while Paul Revere sounded off those ‘bells, wickedly riding his pony through the streets of Boston, oh, yeah, and also, yes, also while re-loading his musket, ‘ya know!, warnin’ dose British that we knew they were coming, or we were coming? I ‘don’t know, but it was something like ‘dat, will ya just accept ‘dat?’ (credit any number of republican candidates, deeply steeped in American history, who were either considering a run for the highest office in the land or are currently still doing so for some odd reason…), yes, Brandt Point Light was named thus for the Brandt Geese that frequent these here parts during the winter months, coming, like the proposed XL Keystone pipeline, God forbid, down from our northern friends in Canada and offers a LIGHT to guide sea going vessels from the cold, nasty, treacherous, sometimes dangerous Atlantic into the harbor of Nantucket, where sailors of ‘yore can pull up a chair, sit back and enjoy all that wonderful island has to offer.  So too, it is my contention, that “Occupy Wall Street”, a REAL grass roots movement of the organic variety, impervious to corruption as it has no one to ‘corrupt’, offers that same light Brandt Point once offered to sea going souls, bringing US back into alignment with what is RIGHT and far away from the rock of what is so clearly wrong.  Seeing the level of caring, conscious, humanity within the movement all around the globe, for the most part, the peaceful way about the crowd makes one see the deep need for people to connect once again with each other, filling that void as one preacher stated so well, mourning the loss of that common thread of humanity we all share, whether we acknowledge it or not.  Exemplifying this very point yesterday at Zuccotti Park were none other than Mr. Graham Nash and Mr. David Crosby, of the great band of the same name, ‘Crosby, Stills & Nash’, who also appeared on “Countdown, with Keith Olbermann”, airing every week night at 8 p.m., EDT, (and again at 11 p.m., 2 a.m., 7, noon and three the next day) only on Current TV, appearing last night, as just two grown men who actually sang, acapella, this very cool song of peace on Keith’s show, LIVE, really touching this humble reporters heart.  With that level of humanity and humility, coupled with purpose and armed with the TRUTH, this ‘movement’ or AWAKENING cannot, or will not fail.  Evidence of this FACT is beginning to surface in places far away from Zuccotti Park in lower Manhattan, places such as Ohio, a state so different from New York City it might as well be on a different planet (just like Mitch, “the turtle”, McConnell R-KY)), I know, I lived in both places, as last night SB-5 was repealed, done away with, $hit canned as it were.  The labor crushing bill introduced by the Koch brothers, I mean puppet Governor John Kasich, former scum bag lobbyist, to keep workers on par with Chinese day laborers, you know, without any rights whatsoever, like SLAVES, keeping them from organizing, keeping them from demanding decent working conditions, and keeping them from demanding FAIR pay, especially in relation to productivity, yes, that horrible bill that spawned massive protests all over the Midwest and beyond–such as in Wisconsin just this past January, where workers of all stripes, from cops to firemen, from teachers to janitors spoke out in the tens of thousands in the freezing cold of a Wisconsin winter–was repealed by a fired up electorate in that great state, demanding that they MUST keep the right to organize so as to assure that they won’t be taken advantage of by the likes of ‘THE BROTHER’S KOCH’, who have their hands in everyone’s pie these days.  Yes, the brothers’ who are, ‘my brother(s) from a different mother’, ’tis true, however, my mother taught me not to steal, cheat, lie, pollute and create a system where a tiny, tiny fraction of the American citizenry can manipulate it’s leaders to the degree that the WHOLE of the nation itself suffers needlessly.  I live in the same town as your Dad, David Koch, and I can assure you, you are not as big as you may think!  The true AMERICAN PEOPLE are waking up to this slowly but surely, yes, waking up to the FACT that not only do you and many of your brethren in the oil, gas and chemical business put PROFIT before PEOPLE, but moreover, you don’t even want those people to have somewhat of a decent life, for it cuts into your Feudalistic, plutocratic vision of this country’s future.  However, as witnessed today on national television, with John Kasich stating it best, “The American people have spoken…”.  You bet they have a$$hole and they have said, in the immortal words of Donald Trump, ‘your fired!’.  Your ‘policies’ are fired, your philosophy is fired, and your hijacked republican party is fired, for this ‘party’ does not represent it’s people at all, and those ‘people’ are  beginning to wake up to this FACT, even as they listen to nasty hobgoblins like Rush Limbaugh, who is a SCUM BAG of the highest order!  Your ‘not your grandfather’s GOP’ represents the opposite, the POLAR opposite of “Occupy EARTH”, and thus, will be snuffed out as irrelevant, greedy, and immoral in the end, with the historians being there to record every word of it, so help US GOD!  Have a nice day folks and may the force be with you! PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace! M

‘It’s always the darkest…’

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the sunny, warm island of Nantucket!  Great to be with you on this Tuesday morning, the eighth day of November, 2011, another stunner on Cape, with temperatures expected to reach 65 degrees on Cotuit Bay, coupled with abundant sunshine once again, a bonus ‘Indian Summer’ day if you will.  It is day 53 of the “Occupy Wall Street” movement, that, again, has spread across the globe, with more arrests from various “Occupy” points across this country, not to mention more in the way of unruly, barbaric, criminal police behavior. Take “Occupy Oakland” if you will, where a mild mannered protester, Scott Campbell, appeared on “Countdown, with Keith Olbermann”, airing every weeknight at 8 p.m., EDT, only on Current TV, where he spoke to the incident that happened to his person only a few short hours ago.  In the video tape, that Scott was filming, visibly, on I believe late Sunday night, images, dark, foreboding images of police in riot gear– looking more like cops on the streets of some Middle Eastern country than right here in the good ‘ole US of A–appeared, presenting hundreds of armed men in black looking back menacingly at the camera.  One could hear Scott in the video feed ask, ‘is this OK?’, literally asking permission from mob of police who remained silent, and so, he continued to tape…as he panned to the left, walking slowly down the police line, causing NO trouble of ANY kind, suddenly there, caught by the camera, was a loud blast, and a flash of light coming from the darkened images of said police corp, it was a blast from a shotgun that propelled rubber bullets into the abdomen of Scott Campbell, causing a massive wound to his midsection to which he is still recovering.  There has been no response by the Oakland police to this incident, and, not surprisingly, none from the ‘drive by corporate media’, who have given this revolution little to no coverage, as the ‘pundits’ put their collective heads in the proverbial sands of our ‘time’.  This all comes on the heals of these same militarized police forces around the country putting a man in intensive care, by beating him so badly with a baton he still remains in grave condition.  He was WALKING AWAY from the action that night, down the wrong street at the wrong time and apparently came across some police away from the main action that acted more like street thugs than uniformed officers who are sworn to ‘protect and serve’, hitting him so hard that it caused his spleen to burst, then, after being thrown into a police van, he sat handcuffed for over three hours, with no medical care, then was carted away to jail, where he laid in a prison cell, his body screaming out in INTENSE pain, with, again, no medical care, laying there, for all he knew, dying, with a belly full of blood.  “Nothing to see here folks, please move along and mind your own business!“, isn’t that right former Mayor of New York, Rudy Giuliani, ‘the hero of 9/11′?, who recently made a comment of the individuals standing up for the 99 percent of the true AMERICAN PEOPLE, “…why don’t you ‘occupy’ a job?”.  Really Rudy?  Do you really want to go there, being a political hack of the highest order and all?  Do you really?  Meanwhile, in Washington D.C., massive protests are going on to stop the horrible tar sands ‘Keystone XL’ pipeline from Canada to the Gulf, a pipeline that, if completed, has most credible global environmental scientists saying with pure conviction… “if this pipeline is completed, and we use these high producing carbon dioxide tar sands, it will be the end of our climate as we know it…”  Good Luck and God’s Speed to all who are protesting this polluting monster that will produce only minimal jobs, but destroy our planet at the same time…seems like a pretty insane trade off to me Senator!  Have a wonderful day folks, always keeping in mind that it ‘is always darkest before the dawn’PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Red Maple

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the sunny, warm, windy island of Nantucket!  Great to be with you on this Monday morning, the seventh day of November, 2011, a spectacular day on Cape, as I just returned from an amazing walk at the ocean’s edge, along that ‘Sound of Nantucket’, with a warm breeze blowing in from the south, calm seas and abundant sunshine, feeling more like an early spring day than the seventh day of November…but, hey, we will take it!  Yes, the leaves are turning all sorts of colors in these here parts, and that means it is coming up on Thanksgiving, one of most beloved holidays of the year in the United States, as WE all gather together at the collective table of bounty and give thanks for all of our blessings, blessings that come from a much greater source than either one of US can comprehend.  As WE look forward to that day, one can only shake one’s collective head at the state of this great land of OURS, wondering what happened to the land WE once knew and loved, with many, including this humble reporter, still very, very much in the camp of Hope that it may just turn a corner, returning to sanity and civility once again…  From the echoes of discontent, by way of ‘Occupying the space‘, bouncing off of the concrete canyons of New York City, emanating from the mouths of literal babes in the woods of OUR times, screaming out for social Justice, income equality and a general fairness reintroduced to a system that has CLEARLY favored the most fortunate among US, to the quiet stillness of nature itself, the two polar opposites that exist today so prominently in the American psyche, with most never being able to turn off the constant flow of information, the majority of it needless, WE must, for our own sakes, take a step back this Thanksgiving and ponder what really matters and what does not.  It seems rather obvious, when you look at it, really look at ‘it’, for Jesus himself said… ‘Look at the Lilies in the field, see that they do not toil, or spin…?’, going on to say that if whatever you ‘believe’ God to be, provides enough water, food and space for these miracles of nature to bloom, thus, proving how much ‘he’ loves them, then how much do you ‘think’ he loves us, ALL of US?  Food for thought on this late Monday morning, hope you have a wonderful week ahead and should you have the spare dime, perhaps Google OXFAM or savethechildren.org, offering some help to those millions suffering in Eastern Africa right now, with many women and children in dire need of food, water and medical care.  Thank you.  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M
