‘Top of Hyannis Port’

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 10:10 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the foggy island of Nantucket!  Great to be with you on this Friday morning, the thirtieth day of September, 2011, an incredibly beautiful one out on the southern shores of this little sand bar created 11,500 years ago by the Last Great Ice Age, as the temperatures are seasonable for this time of year, another Indian Summer day if you will, with gentle breezes, clear cool air above, caressing the changing leaves as one falls, then another, then another…  Yes, I may be crazy to stop to take notice of the beauty that is all around me, but then again, I would be equally or perhaps more ‘crazy’ not to, would you not agree?  I suppose we could go the other way and look at the cesspool Washington D.C. has become, as the puppets bow down to their glorious puppet masters who live and breathe the GREED that IS Wall Street.  It is day 14 of the “Occupy Wall Street” protest that is not only taking place in New York City as we speak, but across this great land of ours, a true grass roots attempt to make some noise as to what has been going on in this country for the past thirty years, fifty really, but that might be a little too much history this early in the morning.  Take the state of Massachusetts, my home state, for example.  When Teddy Kennedy, God Bless his soul, left this world, his senate seat ended up going to a wolf in sheep’s clothing, a truck drivin’ “regular joe” kind of guy who proceeded to go directly to Wall Street and do their bidding, with his first goal being to strike down the regulatory directives put in place after the 2008 meltdown, namely the Frank-Dodd bill, a bill that would help to make sure that fiasco does not happen again, attempting to curb the reckless casino like games being played by an industry that offers nothing to the product side economy nor give back to our society at all, for they make nothing but money for the shareholders, the CEO’s and the top management, as they lay off, say, a third of their labor force to improve profit margins–you know, PROFIT OVER PEOPLE. Scott Brown, now a Senator for God’s sakes, has, in his coffers for the elections in 2012, over 10.2 million dollars, thus far!, and it is only September of 2011, while his competitor, the wonderful Harvard Law professor, Elizabeth Warren, who is a REAL champion of the people, as she attempted to become President Obama’s consumer protection director, but was shot down by, who else, the monkeys who call themselves ‘fiscal conservatives’, yes, that Elizabeth Warren, has, by contrast, only put together, what would have been quite a war chest in olden times, 917,000 smackeroonies.  So, you can see why the Citizens United Supreme court decision of 2010, a decision that gave corporations the same rights as real people (well done Roberts, Thomas, Scalia and Alito!  How was the trip to Vail?  Say hi to David and Charles for me will ya?), while it allows corporations, foreign and domestic, to donate as much money as they like, without disclosure, via ’super pacs’ and such, throwing out the notion of fairness in elections, and thus, the whole concept of democracy, with a little ‘d’, altogether.  This is the basis for the real culture war that is going down as I write these words.  The powerful plutocrats that are on the verge of OWNING this country, God Forbid, it’s shredded and misinterpreted ‘Constitution’, along with it’s people in general, as they brainwash the minds, souls, and bodies for slave labor, can and must be stopped. For the MAJORITY of the American People are certainly, if they wake up to basic FACTS, not in favor of some rich man coming into their house to steal their wallet and then telling them that they have no idea where said wallet is, but would be happy to help them look for it provided they will pay a small processing fee of say, $25 dollars a bag, I mean wallet?  The students, and now some major labor unions, such as the N.Y. Transit Authority, are the seeds that will spread across this great and blessed land of ours and begin the pendulum swinging back in the opposite direction–for blind greed, the lust for power and blood, the rampant hate, fear mongering and bloody assaults on innocent civilians, the racism, all of it, must come to an end, for we need to begin to feed one another, care for one another, be HUMAN to one another once again–FOR THAT IS WHY WE ARE HERE. Most people ask that question from time to time, usually to oneself when we give ourselves a break from the madness that is this ever faster paced world that we can never seem to catch up with has seemingly become…  The reason why we are here is to allow our souls to grow, and the way you grow as a human being is by giving, by forgiving, by loving.  Hatred, war, greed, lust, all of those darker emotions do not have anything to do with peace, love, joy and a real FEELING of oneness with everything.  Exclusion is the way to nowhere. Inclusion is reality and redemption. Have a nice day and week end and remember that wooden nickles are not meant for human consumption, right Shepard, “I come from a town full of secrets”, Smith, ‘you crazy little rag doll!’ (credit the cast and crew of SNL, September 24, 2011 LIVE show, skit depicting the republican candidates in a ‘debate’ hosted by FOX NEWS)…  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Hyannis Port Gold

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 12:36 pm

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the super island of Nantucket!  Great to be with you on this Thursday morning, the twenty-ninth day of September, 2011, a wet one on Cape, as the temperatures have fallen a little over the past twenty-four hours, with heavy downpours experienced overnight.  “Occupy Wall Street” entered it’s 12th day yesterday, with similar protests set up now all over the country, from the Big Apple to San Francisco, Los Angeles to Denver, Detroit to Memphis, and 15 or so other locals, peaceful protests stating the obvious to anyone living in this ‘blessed land’, assuming they have not been living under a rock–that statement is, namely, “the gig is up, WE know the score and WE ‘ain’t gonna take it anymore…” On the “Last Word, with Lawrence O’Donnell”, last night, airing every week night on MSNBC at 8 and 11 p.m., EDT, Lawrence had, as his guest, the great film maker Michael Moore, famous for his truth telling documentaries that detail the ills of our current society, such as “Capitalism, a Love Story”, who came to the show LIVE from Broadway and Liberty, in the heart of the financial district in downtown Manhattan.  The conversation revolved around the giant cavern that now exists and has persistently become much wider in the past thirty years–the gap between the haves and the have nots, a ‘Grand Canyon effect’ if you will.  The interview became more interesting and continued on into the darkness of night, as Wall Street looked like the Ghost town that it IS during that ‘time’ of day, and you got the palpable feeling that, like a dark and stormy night, there would eventually be a DAWN.  A NEW DAWN that wakens US ALL as to the inequalities that exist, and are becoming more obvious, in this land built on the premise of WE THE PEOPLE, ushering in new laws and attitudes that adhere to and defend the MAJORITY of the people that do most of the living and dying in this great nation of OURS, a nation that has always prided itself on, ironically, humility, honesty and hard work, hard work that should be rewarded not by just the greedy few, who play the system for all it’s worth, all while calling themselves ‘patriots’, but by ALL, playing the game of ‘capitalism’ in a system that is not rigged to reward those who are already established crooks, but by all, playing by a set of rules that make sense to anyone who may still have a soul left, or a conscience that is not stuck on Grover Norquist’s favorite oldies, a ‘45 that skips and skips and skips, playing the tune of ‘read my lips, no new taxes’ over and over again, until the country falls into a third world status.  Yes, in a nation that, I truly believe, was once ‘blessed by a grace’ far greater than the very mortal and flawed entities of profit over people, such as Koch Industries, Goldman Sachs, Exxon-Mobile, Massey Energy, and United Healthcare combined, times infinity, plus one, her time will come again, and her peoples will rise up and take back what was rightfully theirs to begin with.  In Lawrence’s famous,“tonight’s rewrite”, a great segment, he investigates the police brutality that took place over this past weekend, where innocent, harmless, peaceful women, at least four, were criminally assaulted, pepper sprayed in the face, by thugs, one in particular, who pose as police officers, giving cops of all stripes a bad name, and bringing to LIGHT the name, rank and serial number of the perp, as they like to call others… Karma is a bitch, huh? Here are a few excerpts from Lawrence’s ‘re-write’ on last night’s most excellent broadcast, and in it, to get a better perspective, I would implore you to Google ‘police brutality in New York City/’Occupy Wall Street’ so you too can see what really happened on that sad day, as Lawrence drives home the point with slow motion video of the officer at the center of this crime, as he sprays at will, revealing his devious INTENTIONS of harming these women protesters, as they fall to their knees screaming out in agony as the chemicals burn their eyes…  This violent and unprovoked act on behalf of the New York City Police Department has drawn now–thanks to Lawrence and the New York Times, as well as Current TV’s Keith Olbermann, The Rachel Maddow Show and others–national and international attention to a growing epidemic of police violently abusing the citizens of this country, citizens it is sworn to protect and serve, a point I know all too well, as you will read about, and see in a movie soon, my story on Nantucket, where, in 2003,  I almost lost my life in a brutal assault to my person on that fabled island, a similar story of assault and cover up that most police departments, the corrupt one’s anyhow, get away with on a daily basis, for they know most people will not stand up and fight back, choosing to live in fear instead, for most do not have the resources that I do.  Thankfully for me, I had witnesses, as did these peaceful protesters, and, moreover, had the video tape to prove it beyond a shadow of a doubt.  The New York Times kept this story alive and the name of the ‘officer’ publicly indicted is none other than Deputy Inspector Anthony Bologna. According to the police department’s patrol guide, officers may use pepper spray…”When a member reasonably believes it is necessary to effect an arrest of a resisting suspect.”  Lawrence comments, “You see in this video, Inspector Bologna makes no attempt to arrest anyone, nor does he order anyone arrested whom he just sprayed, he just indiscriminately sprays people as he walks down the sidewalk…(what an a$$hole!)…in this frame, he is spraying people that are walking AWAY from him, they are not resisting him in ANYWAY.  THEY ARE NOT RESISTING ARREST! No video has surfaced anywhere from any angle, any provocation, or justification for the use of this pepper spray.  This story has managed to stay alive, in the local media, exclusively because of this incriminating video.  The New York Times has been asking all the right questions, and today, the police department, has finally stopped saying ‘pepper spray was used sparingly and appropriately’, their words, ’sparingly’ and ‘appropriately’…”  Lawrence continues, “In fact, police commissioner Raymond Kelly today announced that the internal affairs bureau will investigate Bologna’s use of pepper spray and commissioner Kelly, whose department had defended the use of pepper spray, admitted, quote, ‘I don’t know what precipitated that specific incident…’”  Just to, again, drive the point home about corruption, cover ups and corroboration(s), per the New York Times, Inspector Clouseau, I’m sorry, Inspector Roy T. Richter, the head of…the union that represents the upper echelons of city officers, said that he was not surprised police brass was reviewing the role of officers at the demonstrations, given the ‘notoriety’ the Wall Street protests have afforded the media.”  (mass media coverage, really, you bumbling idiot?)  Check your facts moron.  Lawrence then adds…”he is absolutely right, the police get away with this kind of abuse everyday in this country, without being investigated, because there is usually no video camera around (or witnesses) to capture such routine abuse.  Enough video was recorded of this incident to show that most police officers were not violent and did not over react.  Some of the video shows officers conducting themselves with the utmost honorable position of those who took the oath of ‘To Protect and Serve’…and enough video of Deputy Inspector Anthony Bologna was recorded that the department, by day four of this controversy, could no longer completely protect him.  Of course, as his internal affairs investigation proceeds, the culture of the department will do everything it possibly can to protect Inspector Bologna, and it remains very unlikely that the police department investigation will result in the disciplining of Bologna or any other NYC police officers.  The spirit of these investigations is always a mix of investigation and instinctive institutional cover up. Police departments don’t want to know the truth about these incidences, and they don’t want YOU to know about them either, again, they don’t want you to know the TRUTH about these incidences, and they will do everything they can to hide these TRUTHS…The only reason why their justification of the use of pepper spray could not hold together is the fact that the video tapes PROVED that it is FALSE!   The bravest people on that street were not the police officers, they were the people that pulled out their video cameras to record the TRUTH, and some of them were beaten and arrested for simply accessing their LEGAL RIGHT to press the record button on their video cameras…”  God Bless you Lawrence O’Donnell, God Bless you.  Have a nice day everybody and remember, ‘It’s easy to grin, when your ship comes in, and you’ve got the stock market beat, but the man worthwhile, is the man who can smile, when his shorts are too tight in the seat…’ (credit the late, great Ted Knight and the classic film, circa 1979, Caddyshack).    PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Makin’ waves…

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the foggy island of Nantucket!  Great to be with you on this Wednesday afternoon, roughly 2:41 p.m., another gorgeous one out on Cape, as I look out onto Cotuit Bay, with cool breezes inviting the brilliant early fall sun to reflect upon the water that is as blue as the deepest sapphire your eyes have ever seen…  Normally, if you read seacapecod.net regularly, this ‘message in a bottle’ comes at you LIVE, so to speak, early in the morning, usually before the sun has even risen.  However, after taking a vacation, it has been difficult to get back into that routine of immersing myself with eight to ten hours of ‘news’ coverage, along with three to four hours of reading data, to get at the TRUTH as to what is really happening with this country of ours, let alone the world at large, and so I only ask that you give me a few more hours to get back into the swing of things, ’stop grumblin’ and get back to work, this ‘blog’ is not going to write itself!  So what can we tell you from the hallowed shores of Cape Cod and the islands that you don’t already know?  The political theater will continue for the next fourteen months, for the puppets on the right do not wish to actually DO anything to move this country out of a near depression, certainly stagnant economy, i.e., STRUCTURALLY changing the tax code, investing in our infrastructure, schools, and green technology to move our country well into the 21st century, while on the other side, the democrats will not touch, nor should they, good social programs that have been proven to work much better than the system of private insurance we CURRENTLY have…and with the Presidential election coming up in November of 2012, the impetus to actually improve life for the common man, woman or child is just too much to ask, too politically charged, and hence, we will just see more of the same, as the ’super committee’ set up to tackle our enormous debt, thanks mostly to George W. Bush and his irresponsible policies, fails to act and the toothless ‘triggers’ also fail to do anything of value, the Bush era tax cuts will be the bargaining chip as democrats pray for a victory over what will be, if, God forbid, one of these clowns on the right gets elected, the first President of the United States to be a wholly owned subsidiary of an eclectic collection of plutocratic interests, starting with ‘men’ like David and Charles Koch. However, this country is not completely stupid, nor is it defenseless.  Sooner or later, the general electorate will wake up to what is truly going on–with our environment, our educational failings, our tax code, our judicial system, our voter suppression problem, and the overall rigged system that rewards the top one percent while it eats away at the very fabric that made this country the envy of the world.  Have a nice day and keep on truckin’, tomorrow is just a day away!      PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! The Cat’s Meow

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 5:18 pm

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, and the sunny island of Nantucket!  Great to be back with you, as I have been on vacation for the past few days, a week really, which for a writer is an eternity, and I am very glad to be broadcasting again LIVE from Cape, on this Tuesday afternoon, the twenty seventh day of September, 2011.  The sun is out in full force at this late four o’clock hour, as we experienced temperatures in the low to mid seventies, feeling a whole lot like Indian summer.  Again, the best time to visit the Cape and Islands is right now until mid to late October, as the crowds have all left for the season, leaving the beaches, marshes, roads, restaurants, hotels, etcetera, wide open with no commercial interruptions…’so come on down and visit, we’ll leave the LIGHT on for YA!’ Since I have been away, not much has happened with the jobs crisis, as we all know.  However, the republican field has seen giant swings in emotional bonds, or the lack therein, as the once ‘front runner’ Rick, “I’ll blow your head off if I have to”, Perry, the fine Governor from Texas, blew it at the Google/Fox News debate this past Thursday evening, seeming as though he was in need of a good stiff one, you know, one of those ‘Four Loco’ beverages that may have fired up his neurotransmitters, but alas, his handlers had forgot the coke, so, per his dismal performance, the ultra right wing media pounced on old Rick, “I’m pro-life except when it comes to executing people”, Perry, as the likes of Britt Hume from Fox, stated that Perry ‘threw up all over himself in the debate’, just a few days ago…  Meanwhile, Mitt Romney, although looking like the cat who just ate the canary, is still not in the clear, as in the clear front runner, as rumors continue to fly that the new darling of the hard to please republican cluster fu&k party of no is none other than Chris Christie, the fine Governor of New Jersey, who, it turns out, is also the Koch Brother’s newest pet interest, a nasty combination of more of the same old horse$hit–horse$hit being defined as sleazy politicians in bed with their corrupt corporate masters…to the demise of the very people who put their collective fat a$$ in office to begin with…  Good Luck Chris, if you think running New Jersey into the ground made you a little sick to your stomach, as your temper continues getting the best of you, wait until you lose the general election–but good!  No amount of Tums will sooth that aching pain.  Perhaps the most disturbing event that took place during my absence was the police brutality that no one reported on in the corporate owned media airwaves, that are beginning to look more like a joke everyday, save the real journalistic offerings such as “Countdown, with Keith Olbermann”, only on Current TV, airing at 8 and 11 p.m., weeknights, EDT, or any of the MSNBC line up starting at six p.m. with “Politics Nation”, with Reverend Al Sharpton, and ending with the ED SHOW at ten.  I speak of this for it hits home with me personally, that you will read about soon with the release of my novel, “Taking Fog to Nantucket”, a novel that deals with police brutality in a big way, as well as the subsequent PTSD that always follows a traumatic assault on one’s person.   In New York City, on this past Saturday afternoon, a peaceful protest on Wall Street, coined ‘Occupy Wall Street’, turned really, really ugly, with a group of thugs who call themselves police officers used their bully pulpit, if you will, to beat the living $hit out of a bunch of people who were merely stating the obvious, and stating in peace–‘the corrupt system of big banks, along with out of control corporate power and greed, and their ownership of our government, cannot stand for very much longer, as the MAJORITY of people in this fair land are hungry for Justice, fairness and a game that is not rigged in favor of the top one tenth of the top one percent, a small group of wealthy plutocrats who are raping and pillaging our land, for THEIR PROFIT–as they make out like bandits in a global game that 99.9 percent of the world’s population is not even invited to participate in…’  Yes, as these hippy, tree huggin’ liberal bastards were marching on the poor, little, helpless soul of Wall Street, on a Saturday!, the police, in their infinite wisdom, decided to use a little of that barbaric police brutality that goes counter to what they are hired for in the first place (’to protect and serve’) and proved to US all what side ‘the law’ really stands on these days, money, as the video tapes proved what we all know to be true.  Someone called the mark and had many of them beaten and some of them pepper sprayed.  The video I would urge you to look at is the one with a grouping of perhaps six to eight cops surrounding a group of three or four women, harmless women, hemming them in with menacing orange shields, pinning them down so they could not leave, and then spraying them in the face with this horrible blinding liquid, and as the women, one in particular screamed out in pain, all I could think of was, ‘how much longer is this country going to stand for the rich to continue to abuse the poor, or those who simply wish to exercise their first amendment rights?’ I am lucky, I lived, but some did not.  In Rhode Island recently, a man was killed by police in yet another police brutality case that is just now catching national and international attention, and the list just keeps on getting longer and longer.  Pretty soon, as municipalities run out of money, people like Mellon and the like will just hire out Blackwater to do the ‘policing’, say around Osterville, and if they see anyone they don’t think ‘looks right’ they will just take out an automatic weapon and blow them away, all in the name of ‘a kinder, gentler machine gun helping hand/neighborhood ethnic cleansing’, you know, genocide…  President Barack Obama is making some progress in waking up the American electorate to the real clear choice that is before the people of this once great land, as he goes to town after town, group after group, so as to hopefully educate them as to what they are REALLY UP TO, and thus, again, hopefully, bringing us further away from the abyss Republicorp of America wishes the whole of the nation to jump into, creating a slave labor pool of poor, undereducated, unhealthy, NASCAR watching idiots who will do whatever their master tells them to do, creating a real life Stockholm Syndrome where the captives, ‘the American people’, are brainwashed into thinking they need to feel sorry for their captors in order to either not be hurt or killed, or, to keep their slave job so as to keep food on the table for their loved ones, loved ones they don’t see too often any longer because they work two or three of those slave jobs to pay for the bread that comes from a corporate, tax payer subsidized farm. Let us all pray that ENOUGH people will not only wake up and smell the odor coming from the likes of a pawn like Christie, who is a stooge for David and Charles Koch, or will be if, God forbid, elected President, but DO something about it, i.e. VOTE!!!, in the next national election–November, 2012–for if Republicorp has it’s way, God Forbid (the odds are against them), this country is headed straight for hell.  Have a nice day and keep an ever vigilant eye on the TRUTH, embrace it, own it as your own, and you WILL see the LIGHT–for the TRUTH IS, and it is the only thing that will truly set you free. PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M

“Class Wars”

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 9:04 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the sometimes foggy island of Nantucket!  Great to be with you on this Tuesday morning, the twentieth day of September, 2011, a cool, cloudy start to the day on Cape, as the news outlets all digest the President’s feisty speech yesterday from the White House pertaining to the debt, tax reform and this silly notion put out by republicans that this whole thing is a class war against THEM…give us a break John, Eric, Mitch, Rush, ‘Mitt’, and old Rick, the gig is up and WE all know what you are all about--”…the money Arthur, the money.” Before we get into the rank hypocrisy that now DEFINES the ghost of the once proud, responsible and reasonable Grand Old Party, let US review what President Barack Obama actually proposed, calling the republicans out on who they work FOR and who they are really protecting–the top one tenth of the top one percent, who, last time I checked, controlled more than 40 percent of the wealth in this country, while the middle class is fading like an old pair of blue jeans.  Number one, allow the Bush Tax cuts to expire (the single largest reason we are in this mess to begin with), the tax breaks given to the wealthy on a silver platter in 2001 and 2003, saving the country 866 billion dollars.  Two, limit deductions to 250,000 plus earners, a savings of 410 billion.  Three, close loopholes/special interest tax breaks, saving 410 billion.  Four, program cuts, subsidies/pension/benefit, saving another 300 billion.  Five, draw down on the Iraq/Afghanistan wars, the unpaid for and some would say illegal ‘conflicts’ under the Bush administration, with savings coming in at 1.1 trillion, assuming we don’t stay, as the New York Times suggests, in Afghanistan until the year 2072 (a little inflated, but hey, with the military industrial complex remaining in tact, who knows?).  Six, reducing medicare over-payments, saving another 245 billion.  Seven, other health/medicare savings…72 billion, and finally eight, Internet savings of 430 billion.  The rather transparent irony of the republicans calling this whole sordid affair a class war against THEM is hogwash, and, if I were, God forbid, a republican in this day and age, I would be ashamed to show my face.  The trickle down ‘theories’ of thirty years ago did not work then and certainly don’t work now, as evidenced by the numbers, and, as we all know, numbers, unlike ‘human’ corporations, DON’T LIE! When Bill Clinton was President, under his administration, jobs created in America INCREASED by 23 million, and, if you do not recall, that was under the auspices of taxes being raised.  Contrast that with George W. Bush’s measly 3 million jobs created during his eight year reign of terror, and you will get the point.  For Bush, as we all know by now, decreased taxes on the so called ‘job creators’, the super wealthy, and began the dismantling of the middle class via his complete and utter lack of interest in OUR own citizenry, infrastructure and competitiveness of this country to compete with the likes of a China, Germany or even a ‘third world’ nation like Brazil–you know, more of his father’s ‘voodoo economics’, a policy that flies in the face of common sense, common decency, and common interests, i.e. those ‘American People’ (republican talking point number 7007) that old Mitch, ‘the mouse’, McConnell (R-KY) speaks of with such reference and awe–”I put it to you Mitch, who are these American people you speak of?  They sound so strong and knowledgeable, confident and proud of your policies of sticking to the poor, the middle class and then turning around and calling it a class warfare being waged against the ‘poor’, defenseless corporate plutocracy?  How full of sh$t are you McConnell, the world would truly like to know?”  By the way, Mitch, Pinocchio called and wants his nose back!  To quote the great Jeff Madrick, author of “The Age of Greed”, and fellow at the Roosevelt Institute, who appeared last night on “Countdown, with Keith Olbermann”, airing every week night at 8 and 11 p.m., EDT, as well as 2 a.m., 7 a.m., noon and three the following day, only on CURRENT TV, with David Schuster doing a stellar job of filling in for Keith, who is making his way back from the left coast after appearing on “REAL TIME, with Bill Maher” (HBO) and ‘Late, late night with Craig Ferguson’, on CBS, yes, to quote Mr. Madrick… “The Bush tax cuts of 2001 and 2003 offered up the LOWEST rate of job creation in post WW II history.  What are the republicans talking about?  THOSE TAX CUTS DID NOT CREATE JOBS.” Then, the great Karl Frisch, a syndicated columnist said this on that same broadcast, stated”…they only call it class warfare when we fight back.  How about calling it class genocide?”  The American people, you know who you are, are finally waking up to this true ponzi scheme called Republicorp of America, which could be described as a loosely affiliated group of powerful industrialists, no, strike that, true plutocrats, who wish to rig the whole system in their favor and to hell with everyone else, i.e. 98 percent of the AMERICAN PEOPLE–the vast majority who make up the REAL PEOPLE who do most of the living and dying in this nation.  Is it too much to ask those with money to do with one less deduction on their summer house in the Hamptons?  We have bridges that are about to fall down, we have families that are living on 140 dollars a MONTH in food stamps, as their children attend schools badly in need of repair and decent teachers.  We have a tax code that favors the status quo with no end in sight for the never ending greed that ‘capitalism’ has now been defined AS.  We have a military industrial complex that sucks the very life out of our young men and women, as they go on tour after tour to fight the pointless wars, and then, coming home to an even more hostile environment than they left in say Afghanistan, suffering from PTSD and fearing to get help from the V.A. as they believe they will be ‘reported’ and thus, ’stigmatized’ and considered ‘weak’.  This is the untold tragedy of those horrible wars.  We have a Supreme Court that takes kick backs from the likes of ‘the brother’s KOCH’, (I’m looking at you Scalia, Alito and Thomas) not to be confused with ‘the Brother’s Grim’, for they are much more dangerous and frightening than those fine writers of ‘yore, who go out and poison our drinking water in 37 states now, with their 596 deadly unregulated chemical cocktail, used in the ‘fracking’ process of attaining natural gas (Google Gasland on HBO), yes, we have all of these horrible hurdles and then some, yet we are afraid, somehow, to stand up and fight for what is right.  “This isn’t Russia Danny, is this Russia?” (credit the great Chevy Chase and the classic film, circa 1979, “Caddyshack”).  So there you have it folks, a clear line drawn in the sand, with the President saying, ‘come on, I dare Ya, let’s witness how the American people really feel about the TRUTH and expose your attempted efforts to distort or destroy it.  For somehow, you folks on the ‘right’ believe that with enough dirty money, you can kill the truth.  What you fail to comprehend is this–the truth does not need defending.  That’s why WE sleep better at night!  Have a nice day folks and please, for the LOVE of GOD, do not accept the wooden nickles offered up by Rupert, arrggggh matie!, Murdoch’s ‘fun fact’ FOX NEWS programming schedule of unadulterated hor$eshit, for they are not ‘fair’, nor are they ‘balanced’ or even remotely, even by accident, ‘factual’ and, as we all KNOW by now, do not really represent journalism at all, rather an interesting Machiavellian infomerical, designed to entice one to drink of their poisoned Kool-Aid… PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the sunny island of Nantucket!  Great to be back with you on this Monday morning, the nineteenth day of September, 2011, another bright and beautiful one out here on Cape, and I pray that you and yours had a nice week end.  The status quo of this nation’s economic situation remains the same today as it has since the inception of President Barack Obama’s Presidency, with republicans heading him off at every pass, leaving the majority of people in this great land high and dry, desperately looking to Washington to solve what cannot be solved under the current system.  We have seen this before, of course, during the 1930’s with then President Franklin Delano Roosevelt introducing the sweeping “New Deal” package that included, among many other things, Social Security, a program that has outlasted many bloody wars, social/civil rights upheaval and bitter partisan divide, as we see today, except that, that divide is now pumped up with steroids and will, as history will prove, should have been mandated for testing long ago.  The President’s “American Jobs Act” has not gained any real traction, even among his democratic supporters, or, more accurately, the few remaining supporters he still has left.  The President was dealt a lousy hand from the get go, and thus, has had little luck in creating an atmosphere that would induce the republican obstructionists to HAVE to bend a little on the say, TAX CODE, the real problem, along with housing, the lack of any well paying jobs, because they have all been shipped overseas, and the growing divide between the people WITH a voice, those with money and power, and those who will have a hard time just getting a voter ID card in 2012, as they shut down DMV’s in poor districts, thus disallowing the poor, minorities, students and the elderly from participating in next year’s vital elections, elections that will tell the final tale of this here United States of America.  For if a Rick, “I’m gonna get you sucka”, Perry is elected as our 45th President, two things will happen.  One, the “class warfare” the republicans are screaming about, ironically, will put the final nail in the coffin of our whole democratic system, as Republicorp of America will have finally BOUGHT the Executive of this great land and will bend the will of our forefather’s in such a way that America will not recognize itself twenty years from now when it looks at the image in the mirror staring back at itself, saying, ‘what the hell happened?’.  But, who knows, perhaps a miracle will occur and suddenly republicans of all stripes, moderate and ultra conservative, will WAKE UP and realize that it is morally bankrupt to continue to legislatively allow big multi-national corporate interests, who do not have any interest in the people of this great land, to go on unabated–running rough shod over the majority of people in this nation, 98 percent of them anyhow, leaving them with dirty, indeed poisonous, drinking water (thanks David and Charles Koch!), filthy air, and a planet that is exponentially warming that, if not addressed, could spell our doom for ALL humans in the end.  Those corporate titans of industry will then be called out on what they are really all about–PROFIT OVER PEOPLE–and this country of ours will somehow balance itself back to it’s original upright position.  Let US pray for that today and everyday hence forth. Have a wonderful week ahead, and please tune in this week for more on the environment, politics and perhaps some clips from Turner Classic Movies…offering some wisdom in a world that has gone quite mad.  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Hello…McFly…Is this thing On?

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 12:13 pm

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the sunny island of Nantucket!  Great to be with you on this Saturday morning, a gorgeous day on Cape, as I look out above at clean, white fair weather clouds mixed in with the cool air of autumn, even though the leaves on Cape do not start changing for at least a few more weeks, later than say, Vermont.  Last night on the venerable HBO series, “Real Time, with Bill Maher”, Bill had, as his guest, one of my heroes, Mr. Keith Olbermann, who, along with Bill at the end of Bill’s segment, “New Rules”, confronted the typical republican, an actual audience member from Irvine, California, voter, who sat in a clear plastic bubble on stage, LIVE, with elevator music being pumped in as Keith and Bill attempted to explain to the man, the reason the economy is in the shitter is due, PRIMARILY, to the Bush tax cuts of 2001 and 2003, where, along with the two unpaid for wars, tab coming in at around 4.1 trillion, thus far, and the big pharma sweetheart deal, coming it at say another 1.2 trillion, we don’t have enough REVENUE to pay for social programs designed to help out THE LEAST OF US (least being measured in the amount of money you have or don’t have).  Couple that with the boy in the bubble not being able to hear the FACTS about climate change, being man made and all, you have the greatest metaphor, a visual one at that, I have ever seen in regard to the Ostrich literally sticking it’s collective head in the sands of our ‘time’.  Well done sir and thank you Bill for bringing the Dean of Journalism to a show that certainly does not need my endorsement.  As a follow up to yesterday’s ‘blog’, the study of the earth’s radical departure from normal weather patterns, the radical shift continues on to present day, as we here at seacapecod.net wish to throw out some more FACTS and key points that may propel someone in this nation to actually WATCH and DIGEST Mr. Al Gore’s, the founder of CURRENT TV, “climaterealityproject.org” (please Google to watch clips); that is the new flagship beacon on climate and the crisis therein, in this day and age.  There is no doubt, whatsoever, that this ‘fancy book lernen” (credit new cliche and misspellings to that mama Grizzly we all know and love), ya know, that ’science stuff’, is as true as is the fact that the sky above you, when clear, is actually BLUE, and we, as a nation, and indeed world at large, can no longer afford to just sit back and let a few bad actors destroy what creative intelligence gifted ALL of US–I’m lookin’ at you KOCH INDUSTRIES, and your brethren in the oil and coal ‘business’, who are hell bent on keeping the status quo of PROFIT OVER PEOPLE alive and well as it continues to ride rough shod over the citizens of the world, polluting our land, sea and air as they rake in HUGE profits, year in and year out, ever protected from the REAL WORLD via their investment in our nation’s political system, with a number of bought puppets in Washington D.C. that they carry around in their pocket like so many nickles and dimes.  These godless industries continue to this day to destroy entire eco-systems, just more subtly, or brazenly, as they did recently in the Gulf of Mexico, where the 500 million barrels of oil that were spilled, laced with the banned dispersant Corexit 3500, now sit at the bottom of the oceans’ floor, out of site out of mind am I right?, killing the lowest forms of life that act as the foundation, if you will, or the first building block of our food chain, for our very life itself…  What makes this ever more infuriating are the LIES these monsters tell the public, poisoning sound science with doubt as to the validity of this uncontested Truism that is not only empirical in nature, regarding the FACT that carbon dioxide is exponentially causing the earth’s temperature to rise, but moreover, may actually be, the earth that is, getting colder, again I say unto you my dear friends on the right–what planet are you from anyhow?  As we all know, to one degree or another, the earth’s weather patterns are getting more unpredictable by the day, all due to the warming of the earth’s atmosphere, due to man made activity which someone is cashing in on.  With these changes come pain, with stronger and stronger storms reeking havoc all over the globe, horrible heat waves, rising sea levels as the melting of the earth’s permanent ice features slowly slip away into oblivion, and severe droughts that spark wild fires that destroy ever more communities and lives, not to mention FAMINES, such as in the case of Somalia, where 12.5 million people are literally in danger of dying of thirst and lack of food, something that could very well happen in this country with say a Rick, “climate change is not based in fact”, Perry in the office of the Executive.  God Forbid.  The corporations responsible like to keep people wanting more, much like a crack dealer, and keep people deaf, dumb and blind, for the most part, ever placing doubt before proven scientific FACT, and will continue, if someone does not stop them, to use, as Al puts it, our atmosphere as ‘an open sewer’, marching on in a ‘capitalism’ game only they are playing, ignoring scientific FACT regarding the climate, going on as if everything is just peachy, unabated, uncontested, unapologetic, as they make a radical departure from a morality that this country, last time I checked, was based upon.  The time to ACT is NOW, for the world will suffer greatly if the tide is not turned towards conservation and common sense for REAL this time–let us ACT on behalf, as the republicans love to say, ‘of our children and our grandchildren.’  So, without any further adieu, I present to you Mr. Al Gore and a few quotes from this amazing documentary, an update, if you will, from the 2006 film entitled, An Inconvenient Truth.    AND ACTION! “Here, in the United States of America, this year, the Mississippi River had a record ‘flood flow rate’, it’s peaks at historical all time highs, in my home state of Tennessee, we saw some of those impacts.  In North Dakota, the Surrey River (around Minot), saw the largest flood in the HISTORY of that state.  In my home town of Nashville, a year ago May, thousands (this is the Opryland Hotel, see video!), where thousands of my neighbors lost their homes and businesses, with no flood insurance, because the areas that had been affected, had never, ever been flooded, which was described by the Army Core of Engineers as a once in a thousand year rain fall.  Just a few miles from my house, on Interstate 24, this is a temporary classroom, floating down the interstate (see video!), something you don’t see every day.  In other parts of the United States, just 2 weeks ago today, a hurricane that eventually turned into a tropical storm, went up the eastern seaboard and through the northeast, causing an estimated 12 billion dollars in damages.  In places like Killington, Vermont, the scene was the same, where the expense of repair was huge and tragically of course, lives were lost as well.  The Governor of Vermont said, ‘we didn’t used to get tropical storms, our storm patterns weren’t like Costa Rica, they were like, well, Vermont!  The scientists are now saying we are experiencing in their phrase, ‘a new normal’.  In southeast Asia, in the Philippines, those folks were hit by a super Typhoon Meiji (sp?), which had the strongest winds ever measured when a storm hit land fall…when it hit, they received 45 inches of rain in 48 hours… Brazil is feeling climate changes that are happening in the world, when there is a severe drought in areas that don’t normally have droughts, and when it rains too much in places where it doesn’t rain.  The weather patterns are scrambled, and as we will see in a moment (see video!) the storms are just getting more and more intense.  Why are there so many big down pours and floods throughout the world?  Scientists are telling us that we are entering a new era.  Global warming is contributing to an increased incidence of extreme weather because the environment in which all storms are formed has changed from human activity.  One of the two largest re-insurance companies in the world, Munich-Re, said, ‘the only plausible explanation for the rise in weather related catastrophes is climate change.  The view that weather extremes are more frequent and more intense due to global warming coincides with the CURRENT state of SCIENTIFIC KNOWLEDGE as set out in the fourth IPCC Assessment report.” (put that in your pipe and smoke it James, ‘climate change is the biggest hoax ever played on the American people‘, Inhofe (R-OK)).’  Al continues, “It is their BUSINESS (I can personally attest to this FACT) to be accurate, in understanding and estimating EXACTLY what is going on with events that incur risk.  One of the most senior, distinguished scientists in the world said, ‘this is no longer conjecture or something based on computer models or a theory, it is REAL and it is happening RIGHT NOW.’  That is something that has emerged, really powerfully over this past decade.  A scientist told me that there’s been this significant, subtle, but significant SHIFT, several people have said this to me.  They used to say, and you have probably heard this, you can’t connect any single extreme weather event to climate, because we are changing the odds of those events occurring…we are ‘loading the dice’, (much like playing pin ball, as the ball still goes around the machine, but the machine is now tilted, thus, the outcomes are different), and NOW they are saying not only are we loading the dice, but we’re painting more dots on the dice, that is, we are not only rolling more ’12’s’, we’re now rolling 13’s and 14’s, soon to be rolling 15’s and 16’s.”  Thank you Mr. Al Gore, you are a gentleman and a scholar, this study is only a quarter done, so I will leave with you with that for the moment, but alas, we will all have to face up to this REALITY soon enough…  I think WE can all understand these very simple concepts, even republicans, but, be aware, there are many BAD actors out there who do not have anyone but their interests at heart, for, like crack cocaine, the addiction to oil and coal, the chief contributors to this looming ever present disaster, will be very difficult for the key players to ween themselves off from.  Perhaps even worse, will be their weening from the ‘art of the deal’, the making of all of that profit, profit that comes at the expense of ALL of us in one form or another.  They will continue to fight these presented FACTS at every turn, banking on the public’s lack of interest, short attention span, lack of KNOWLEDGE and assuming they are too stupid and easily manipulated by say, a FOX NEWS, to really get a handle on the enormity of the problem, let alone do anything about it.  Yet unfortunately soon enough, another F-5 tornado will touch down, as it did fairly recently in Joplin, Missouri, where much of the large town looks like Godzilla turned it into a toothpick like rubble, and the poor people who lost everything are told, ‘there’s nothing to see here folks…’  Yeah, this all must be ‘God’s will’ right Rick?  And as the crumbling infrastructure of this once great and proud nation falls by the way side and yet one more large storm takes out another community, this U.S. of A will have to close down for repairs, with the ghost of John Candy from the classic National Lampoon film, “Vacation”, whispering… “the country, I mean the park is closed, the moose outside should have told YA!” Have a nice day folks and remember, wooden nickles come in many different forms, and should not be accepted in any circumstance, your life just might depend on it.  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! ‘What planet are you from?’

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 12:31 pm

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the sunny island of Nantucket!  Great to be with you on this Friday morning, the sixteenth day of September, 2011, little late in the morning I might add, as the managers of seacapecod.net are fairly flexible about sleeping in, and it is yet another stunningly beautiful one on Cape, as a cold front pushed on through ushering in cooler temperatures, with highs only expected to be in the low 60’s with clear azure sky above…Fall has arrived in stye I must say and even with all the storms, all the leaves are still on the trees and those leaves are still green as a bullfrog.  As we ease on into the weekend, reeling from some rather odd and disturbing comments and revelations emanating from the presidential hopefuls in the most recent republican debate hosted by CNN, such as Rick, “I can’t be bought?”, Perry’s continued stance on Social Security “being a “ponzi” scheme and all, the President’s “American Jobs Act” proposal, numbers on the REAL economic outlook for the U.S. (with actual unemployment numbers at coming in at 16 percent, at least, the uptick in the number of Americans slipping into poverty, and the ever growing gap between the haves and the have nots) and finally culminating, at least for this environmentalist, with the 12 ton Elephant in the room, via the real WINNER of the 2000 U.S. elections, Mr. Al Gore, Founder of Current TV, where that fine station wrapped up a LIVE Internet world wide video stream called ‘climaterealityproject.org’ (please Google)– a 24 hour event, where again, last night on CURRENT TV, after 23 hours of presentations from all corners of the globe, Al gave one of his patented ’slide shows’, much like in his great film, “An Inconvenient Truth”, gifting a window into what is REALLY happening to a world that seems to be in great trouble, weather wise that is.  This window allows for one to see and decide with one’s own eyes and presumably own brain, that the REALITY of what mankind’s activity of emitting carbon dioxide into the atmosphere is actually DOING to the only world we have for the moment, planet earth, is mind blowing, while it shines a bright spot light on the naysayers who have a political and financial stake, angle and interest in keeping the status quo alive and well (while keeping the masses in the dark), profit over people if you will, thereby dispelling myths by the truckload as our friends on the right side of the aisle, politically, can only sit back and wonder how much longer they can keep their collective Ostrich heads in the proverbial sands.  As Mr. Gore put it, “we have to stop these big polluters from continuing to use our air, water and land as an open sewer for their ill fated business practices of destroying our futures, our children’s futures and our grand children’s futures.  Congratulations David and Charles Koch, you have been elected to be the new poster boys for our new film entitled (a working title mind you), “Why does Santa no longer where his red suit, opting for cargo shorts, a polo shirt and flip flops…and what happened to his eight reindeer?” I know, a rather long title, but it is followed up with a shorter already shot sequel, “Why we had to BBQ Rudolph.” A rather grim and dark look into what could happen, should the WORLD decide to not take action NOW, across this planet of all of OURS, as droughts, floods, fires, rising temperatures/rising seas, and more powerful and intense storms leave billions without enough food and clean drinking water to sustain their very lives, essentials we ALL take for granted at this late present day.  As Mr. Gore pointed out in this incredible MUST SEE documentary of Biblical proportions, scientists are facing a great resistance from the big mutli-national corporate polluters, who offer up ‘red herrings’, as opposed to the Blue Heron you see above you, or diversions, to keep the masses from the TRUTH.  Both the TRUTH of what their products are actually doing to the planet, as well as the truth in their never ending efforts of clouding up the science so as to introduce doubt, when there is no doubt at all if you are talking to anyone with any credibility in empirical evidence, or FACTS, or again, THE TRUTH. This comes in the form of the republican Muppet show 2.0 who speak to falsehoods, knowingly or not, regarding those scientific FACTS, 98 percent of them anyhow, echoed in that sentiment of scientists from every corner of the globe, who are all in accordance with a solid fact that is akin to the earth being round as opposed to flat and that it does indeed revolve around the sun, not the other way around.  Something the medieval Roman Catholic church attacked our good friend Galileo for so many moons ago… In a word, of the evidence placed before the curious open mind and whether or not we should take some preventative measures now, indisputable, was used uniformly by ALL of them.  The number of scientists who oppose this concept of climate change?…0.  So, with no further adieu, an exercise that will be repeated tomorrow as I conclude this study, here is the best disinfectant in the world, the sunshine, or the LIGHT, as opposed to Rupert Murdoch’s FOX NEWS ‘fun fact’ (fun for who exactly?) television and print offerings, burnt offering if you will, that introduce fear, doubt, and red herrings designed by the big polluters who wish to poke holes in the ‘climate change theory’, because they might not make as much money (basic human greed), as they continue to damn the consequences, much like the Tobacco industry did back in the early 1990’s, as you will recall those shameful CEO’s going on stage at congressional hearing after congressional hearing, stating unequivocally, that tobacco, specifically cigarettes, are ‘not addictive’, thus, introducing the weapon of choice, doubt, a phenomenon that is repeating itself with much greater consequences if something is not done to stop them.  With the ever increasing temperatures on planet earth, that are caused, almost exclusively, 99 percent, by man’s activity on planet earth in his continued use of the dirtiest forms of energy such as oil and coal, the FOR PROFIT OVER PEOPLE models that have made these oil companies the richest corporations in the history of mankind, but have left a giant carbon footprint on our planet that might eventually kill us all, someone may just get hot enough under the collar to do something about it.   For the tons and tons of carbon dioxide that are spewed into the atmosphere daily ARE the reason the earth is warming exponentially, and because carbon dioxide traps HEAT, trapping that heat coming from our star, the sun, much like a common green house does, it is causing the planet to warm significantly, with 2010 being the hottest year ever recorded on planet earth.  This warming of the atmosphere, causes more and more water to evaporate from the oceans, lakes, streams, all bodies of water, trapping more and more water in the atmosphere right above your head, and thus, causing more and more intense weather phenomena–as the polar ice caps melt, Greenland melts, and every glacier on the planet melts, the seas will begin to rise even more, and combined with the more intense storms, will cause monumental flooding, as well as more and more severe droughts, that could spell our collective doom. Raging wildfires following those droughts, resulting in huge tracks of land being wiped out and virtually inhabitable, with food and water shortages rampant, finally replacing all of the ridiculous and useless “thinking’, actions and overall behavior in Washington D.C., as idiots like Senator James, ‘she’ll be comin’ round the mountain when she comes’, Inhofe (R-OK), infamous maniac pilot and climate change denier, who once claimed, “global warming is the greatest hoax ever played on the ‘American People”’, a claim current presidential hopeful Rick, “coyote ugly”, Perry, a republican governor from the great state of Texas, embraces as well, as they all try and muddy the waters for their buddies who pull their strings in the pathetic puppet show Washington has sadly become.  Crony Capitalism indeed Michelle Bachmann!  Food and water shortages all around the world will eventually replace these ridiculous debates as we all look back on years like 2011 and say, ‘why didn’t we stand up to these as$holes and SAVE the planet from a greedy, sick few?’.  So without any further adieu, with the rest coming to you sometime this weekend, I wish to quote the real winner of the 2000 Presidential race, humanitarian and AAA rated environmentalist, Mr. Al Gore, in this platinum MUST SEE documentary called simply CLIMATE REALITY PROJECT. org, where he presented one of his patented ’slide shows’, an update, if you will, from the great film, “An Inconvenient Truth’, the story of our home for the moment, a sad story, regarding this little blue rock called EARTH… enjoy. AND ACTION! Mr. Al Gore: “We have chosen to focus on climate REALITY. The key to finding solutions is to start with an acceptance of what the reality is of what we are facing.  The scientific community has told us of resistance to the TRUTH that they have laid out.  We are now seeing in our own lives, over the last 23 hours, in presentations from all over the world, in our world, in REALITY. When a challenge is difficult, it is tempting to push it away and not accept the reality that we have to confront.  This slide show, which in varying forms, the variations being representative of different regions that have hosted presentations in the past 23 hours, is designed to present that REALITY.  It would be tempting to pretend that we don’t have to face up to this.  And actually somewhere, there may be a world, much like earth, where the temperatures are not really getting hotter, and people are not really suffering the effects of the heat waves.  Somewhere, where the rain storms are not getting bigger, and destroying communities and destroying lives.  There may be a place somewhere, where bigger floods are not wreaking havoc and destroying homes, businesses, and killing people and whole cultures.  There may be an earth SOMEWHERE, where deeper and longer droughts are not killing crops, animals and people, driving up food prices and causing people to leave communities that they had called home for many generations.  There may be a world where fires are not spreading wildly and burning hotter, more intensely and longer.  There may be a world somewhere, where the winds and the storms are not getting more destructive, raising costs for disaster relief and reconstruction.  Somewhere, there may be such an earth.  BUT, its not THIS EARTH. Here we have to deal with reality and think, for a moment, about the reality that has unfolded for us in just this last year alone.  In Pakistan (August 2010) in the devastating floods, we all saw and felt the suffering of those who were caught in those incredible floods (that covered almost the entire country)–20 million people were affected by this flooding, further destabilizing a nuclear armed country. The poorest of the poor were the ones most devastated by this flood. This week, this picture (showing a picture of a man in Karachi, Pakistan up to his neck in water) was taken two days ago, it hasn’t received too much notice, but 5.5 million people have been affected THIS WEEK in Pakistan’s devastating flood.  In Australia, last January, an incredible flood that covered an area as large as France and Germany combined occurred.  And just six weeks ago (in Seoul, South Korea) this mudslide reached the fourth story of this (to see image~ Google “The climate reality project”/Al Gore/Current TV) high rise building…”  Stay  tuned tomorrow for the conclusion of this MUST SEE documentary of Mr. Al Gore’s, via commentary on seacapecod.net, that should change even the most hardened heart regarding the most pressing issue facing the human species TODAY–the warming of the earth’s atmosphere via mankind’s Ostrich like attitude towards using the atmosphere, as Al Gore puts it, “…as an open sewer”, that WILL continue to cause disasters of Biblical proportions if we do not change our collective ways… May you and yours have a wonderful weekend and may the ‘force’ be with you. PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M

Jesus Saves!

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 9:29 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the super island of Nantucket!  Great to be with you on this Thursday morning, a rather drizzly day here on Cape, temperatures still in the 60’s, with some big changes on the way soon… Well, what can I say.  The ’song remains the same’ in Washington D.C., as deaf, dumb and blind republican politicians, giving politicians of all stripes a bad name, continue to thwart any effort by this President, Barack Obama, to do ANYTHING to jump start this floundering economy that is only hurting the 98 percent of Americans who are quickly falling beneath the cracks in the social system that was set up during the age of the New Deal, by then President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Globalization has taken on a new meaning for Americans as they begin to wake up to the FACT that large multi-national corporations care NOTHING about the health and wealth, or lack therein, of the average man, woman and child in this once great and proud nation, as they laugh all the way to the bank, shouting out as they make a deposit for say 3 billion dollars at one of the ‘too big to fail banks’, making out like bandits in an unregulated casino parlor, “anyone without health insurance, or those who can’t afford to pay into the PONZI scheme that IS the ‘for profit health insurance industry/scam’, can just go ahead and DIE”.  Alan Grayson, the former Florida congressman, and great American, put it best a long time ago on the floor of the Capitol when he defined the ‘republican health care plan for anyone in America’, you know, the ‘little people’, yes, anyone who gets sick, again, defining the republicans REAL ‘heath’, ‘care’, ‘vision’ for the majority of our fellow American brothers and sisters–“If you get sick, DIE QUICKLY.” In the debate on CNN the other night, in Florida, the ‘republican strategist plants’ in the audience showed their (the plutocrats who invented the ‘tea party’) true colors to all the world, as Wolf Blitzer, the CNN moderator of that debate, asked the simple question to Ron Paul, a Libertarian, or is it novelty figurine? I can never get that straight, “what would you say to a man who was thirty years old without health insurance, who, say, did not purchase it because it was a RIP OFF, and unfortunately got sick and went into a coma, and without proper medical care would most certainly die, yes, what would you say to that, should WE just let him die?”.  As Ron stumbled around his rather programmed brain for an answer, members of the rabid audience, in their medieval thirst for blood, screamed “Yeah!”  Paul, of course, gave some lame answer bringing forth his medical degree as if that give him some authority on par with GOD.  The republican party is doing a whole lot of funny things in the name of Jesus, who they lay exclusive (ironic, because the very definition of ‘Christianity’ is INCLUSION) claim to, and state, unequivocally, ad nauseum, that they follow devoutly (it will be amusing when he shows back up and asks to see their REAL credentials, i.e. their DEEDS on planet earth, so as to pass through the Pearly Gates and into the Kingdom of Heaven, asking questions like, ‘what part of what you do to the least of me, you do unto ME did you not understand?’), yes, follow devoutly and ACT on everything the man instructed so many moons ago.  Ed Shultz, of “The ED SHOW”, only on MSNBC, was in Toledo, Ohio last night, go Mud Hens!, broadcasting LIVE from a little watering hole with a tiny representative portion of the millions of Americans who are all in the same boat, in the same boat in so far as they are all under the thumb of corrupt Governors like John Kasich of the great state of Ohio, who would rather bow down to the creators of this great disparity in America today between the haves and the have nots, animals like the KOCH BROTHERS, polluting your rivers and streams, estuaries and reservoirs since their Daddy, who lives in Osterville, right here on Cape Cod, gave them the business only a few short years ago, than TRULY changing this sickness that IS one of the seven deadly sins–GREED. For money is not the root of all evil, the LUST for it is.  You see, hypocrisy runs deep in this new Republicorp of America, a small minority of morally bankrupt wealthy industrialists who are above the law, because they have BOUGHT congress and hope soon the Executive, for the laws of man do not necessarily transcend the new global plutocracy, thus, these “men”, can re-write the laws to fit their new very lavish lifestyles, as the common man and woman who made this country great struggle to feed their kids, put gas in the tank to go off to a slave wage job every day and pay into a health care system that is more about providing a shiny card, empty promises and collecting money than it is about providing effective health CARE, propelling them into a life of poverty where Vermont Senator, an Independent and all round great guy, Bernie Sanders, recently claimed that poverty actually equals death, with statistics backing that statement up, proving that people who live in poverty live on average six and a half years less than those with money, bringing the whole debate full circle as Presidential hopefuls like Rick, “they bought their tickets, they knew what they were getting into, I say, let ‘em crash” (credit the classic film, circa 1979, Airplane! Starring, among other greats, Lloyd Bridges), Perry expose their unbelievable hypocrisy by holding pray rallies at baseball/football stadiums in Houston all in the name of a man who walked this earth over 2000 years ago, whose words still reverberate today…something like a reading from the Holy Gospel, the words of the man himself, Jesus, according to Matthew–a little parable that kind of sums it all up.  ~Peter approached Jesus and asked him, ‘Lord, if my brother sins against me, how often must I forgive him?  As many as seven times?’  Jesus answered, ‘”I say to you, not seven times but seventy seven times.  That is why the Kingdom of Heaven may be likened to a king who decided to settle accounts with his servants.  When he began the accounting, a debtor was brought before him who owed him a huge amount.  Since he had no way of paying it back, his master ordered him to be sold, along with his wife, his children, and all his property, in payment of his debt.  At that, the servant fell down, did him homage, and said, ‘Be patient with me, and I will pay you  back in full.’  Moved with compassion the master of that servant let him go and forgave the loan.  When the servant had left, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a much smaller amount.  He seized him and started to choke him, demanding, ‘Pay back what you owe.’  Falling to his knees, his fellow servant begged him, ‘Be patient with me, and I will pay you  back.’  But he refused.  Instead, he had the fellow servant put in prison until he paid back the debt.  Now when his fellow servants saw what had happened, they were deeply disturbed, and went to their master and reported on the whole affair.  His master summoned him and said to him, ‘You wicked servant!  I forgave your entire debt because you begged me to.  Should you not have had pity on your fellow servant, as I had pity on you?’  Then in anger his master handed him over to the torturers until he should pay back the whole debt.  So will my heavenly Father do to you, unless each of you forgives your brother from your heart.~ I wonder if the likes of a player such as Rick Perry ever really read, let alone applied, the teachings of the man who was at the center of a prayer rally in Houston just a few moons ago?  Have a nice day folks and keep the ‘little people’ of this country and the refugees on the Somalian/Kenyan border in your thoughts and prayers–to help a fellow American who just may need to see a doctor somewhere in the U.S.A., visit FREECLINICS.US and to help the victims of one of the worst FAMINES in world history, Google OXFAM or visit savethechildren.org...knowing that, in the end, it is the giving to our brothers and sisters in need that GOD is interested in, not your stock portfolio.    PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! A Little Help?

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 9:59 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the great island of Nantucket!  So good to be with you and yours on this Wednesday morning, the fourteenth day of September, 2011, another beauty on Cape, as we will again see temperatures in the upper 70’s with abundant sunshine…this is what I speak of when I tell ‘ya’ll’ that visiting Cape Cod this time of year is the way to go…so once again, “come on down and visit US, we’ll leave the LIGHT on for YA!”.  Some staggering numbers came out yesterday, via the AP, Associated Press, regarding the number of Americans who are in poverty.  As of yesterday, 1 in 6 of our fellow citizens fall below that poverty line, or 46.2 million people, real people, or, as Keith Olbermann put it last night, the amount of people in the states of Colorado and California combined.  To break those numbers down further, by category, so to speak, children went from 20.7 percent to 22.0, Hispanics went from 25.3 to 26.6, Blacks went from 25.8 to 27.4, and the elderly remained unchanged at 9.0.  Why did the elderly population remain unchanged?  Social Security. You know, that Ponzi scheme set up by then President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the President who famously tried to cover up his devious ponzi plan by saying, “no longer will seniors be left out in the cold…” Keep on talking Rick, “who are you really?”, Perry, as you did receive some high marks for stating after the CNN debate a few days ago regarding the Ron Paul comment on letting an American citizen DIE if he did not have health insurance, stating, “we are the party of LIFE, we outta come up with ways to SAVE lives…”, begging the question, ‘does that include all of the prisoners you executed in Texas during your tenure as Governor, all 235 of them?’.  On the one hand you oppose this libertarian view that ‘we are all on our own’, rejecting the notion that we should leave uninsured people to die on the VINE, yet cannot seem to come to grips that you sir, may have put an innocent man to death.  Kinda hard to square that with your maker, is it not?  Pray on it, as you are so fond of saying…  On “Countdown, with Keith Olbermann” (airing every week night at 8 and 11 p.m., EDT, as well as 7 a.m., noon, I believe, and well, just check your local listings, you will be glad you did) last night was an Angel from USFREECLINICS.US, who spoke to the great need that IS out there for people without insurance.  This reporter was an insurance executive, large employee benefit programs, directing the designing, implementing, well, you get the picture, and I worked all over the country.  I can assure you, the only PONZI scheme that is going on right NOW in this country are those who are knee deep in the corrupt FOR PROFIT insurance industry, that has become, as of thirty years ago, a monopoly that profits in a system that has failed it’s citizens in epic proportions.  As you look to where, should you be so fortunate to have money to GIVE, you should donate your money, think no further than Somalian refugees, fleeing a war torn, FAMINE to the shores of Kenya, where all 12.5 million of them are in dyer need of food, water and basic medicine (to help Google OXFAM or savethechildren.org), for that will dovetail nicely with a lesser known tragedy happening right NOW on our soil, yes, right here in the US of A, where real live human beings, who are vying to become the next President of the most powerful nation on earth, are actually saying out loud that anyone without health insurance should DIE.  My, my, my. Whatever happened to that ‘kinder, gentler America’, that our 41st President George H. Bush spoke of twenty some years ago?  I will tell you what happened to her, she was replaced with a ‘kinder’, ‘gentler’, grenade launching, polo shirt wearing, private contractor hand, answerable to no one, even though the American people pay his salary.   I’m talking to you BLACKWATER, or the fake name of Xe, for those dumb enough to buy into their propaganda, and I’ll tell you something, Mr. Prince, the principal owner of that nasty operation, we all know you are laughing all of the way to the bank.  For recently the Project on Government  Oversight, or POGO, released a study yesterday that concluded that private contractors who have taken over the war in Iraq and soon to be Afghanistan now number in the hundreds of thousands, all, again, on the tax payer’s tab, at a cost to US being two thirds MORE than their federal employee counterparts, i.e. American soldiers in our traditional military.  President Dwight D. Eisenhower, who warned us of an impending ‘military industrial complex’ in the late 1950’s, would be spinning in his grave if he were not in Heaven laughing at our lack of fight back on this one.  According to Claire McCaskill (D-MO), who appeared on the Rachel Maddow show last night, said, “we have lost over 60 billion dollars in waste and fraud in Iraq and Afghanistan”.  The POGO study stated, “…our findings are shocking–POGO estimates the government pays billions more annually in tax payer dollars to hire contractors than it would to hire federal employees to perform comparable services.”  Eric Prince, your name does not suit you sir!  Moving right along, the President will be in North Carolina today, to drum up support from the AMERICAN PEOPLE regarding his “American Jobs Act”, a modest proposal that might just help out his nemesis, Mitch, “the mouse“, McConnell’s (R-KY) own state, as one of their main bridges, that is linked up with the Interstate system, is about to fall down.  You know what they say Mitch, “You build bridge, bridge fall down, NO partial credit!” An old engineering joke I heard in college, and as the constituents of that great state of Kentucky face what was once a 15 minute commute to work turn into a two hour odyssey, with gas prices only going up, I wonder how long that mouse will have his job.  Of course, the other moron in the Senate with old Mitch, the ’still in the closet racist’, you know, Ron Paul’s son, I won’t utter his name on this site, will say if, God Forbid, that Bridge falls down and hurts a whole lot of people, again, will say, “it was God’s will” or something to the like, stating, “that’s what Freedom is all about, taking the risks, and to hell with everybody else…” 38 other Senators might, all of the republican variety, as well have said the same thing these jokes all stated at that CNN debate the other night.  As 38, count them, 38 Senators voted AGAINST the disaster relief package that was finally passed, after a pathetic filibuster, by congress to help out people who were hit so hard by say, Hurricane Irene, a storm so fierce that it took out entire towns in my adopted home state of Vermont, leaving route 4 looking more like Afghanistan than my little green mountain state in the northern part of New England.  Give US a break! I will repeat once more the cry ALL of US should be saying at this juncture, ‘what planet are these guys from anyhow?’.  To once again quote our buddy Carl Spackler, Assistant Greens-keeper at Bushwood Country Club somewhere in the United States of America, as he speaks to the unruly rodent he is trying to kill, the Gopher, “OK, that’s it, I guess the gloves are off now, I guess the kidding around is pretty much over, I think it’s time I pumped about 15,000 gallons of water down there to teach you (the “American people”) a little bit of a lesson, is ‘dat it, I think it is…!!”, (credit the classic film, Caddyshack, circa 1979, and the incomparable Bill Murray).  Have a nice day folks and remember FOX NEWS ‘is not offering any alibis, as you stare into the vacuum of his/her eyes’, Rupert Murdoch’s eyes that is–arrrggghhhhh matie! One Red, White and Blue battered boat…

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 10:59 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the sunny island of Nantucket!  Great to be with you and yours on this Tuesday morning, the thirteenth day of September, 2011, a beautiful late summer day here on Cape, as the temperatures are expected to be in the upper 70’s with abundant sunshine.  A little known fact, if you will excuse the Cliff Claven from ‘Cheers’ reference, about the Cape and Islands is that during the months of September and October, and sometimes going all the way to Thanksgiving, this little sand bar created by the Last Great Ice Age over 11,500 years ago is the BEST time to be here, as the crowds have dissipated and the water is still warm, with plenty of room to swim, boat or kayak your little heart out--’so come on down, we’ll leave the LIGHT on for YA!’. Last night of course, hosted by CNN, was another republican debate to decide which candidate was more to the right of President Ronald Reagan, who, as we have seen in the past, has been evoked time and time again by republican hopefuls for the highest office in the land.  As Reagan’s daughter, Patti Davis, who appeared last night on “The Last Word, with Lawrence O’Donnell”, only on MSNBC, airing every week night at 8 and 11 p.m., EDT, put it, “If my Dad were alive today, and did not have Alzheimer’s, I doubt these candidates would continue to try and mold themselves into his shadow…” The TRUTH of the matter is this, Ronald Reagan would not have been elected President in this toxic environment today, in fact, he may not have been elected Governor of the great state of California, as the shift towards ‘compassionate conservative’ has quickly devolved into ‘Republicorp of America’, where the only policy that matters is not raising taxes on the most fortunate among US, rather, giving HUGE tax breaks to those billionaires and corporations, who take that money and invest it in plants whose mailing address is either Singapore or Beijing.  As the President, Barack Obama, unveiled his “American Jobs Act” yesterday, in Virginia I believe, House majority leader Eric Cantor’s home district, directing the republicans to “Pass this bill, pass it right NOW…”, the details came to light as to how WE are going to pay for it.  Number one, ‘Limit deductions for high wage earners. Number two, ‘Close loopholes for oil and gas companies. Three, ‘Tax hedge fund earnings as INCOME, that they ARE, as opposed to capital gains. And finally four, ‘change depreciation for corporate jet owners. Speaker of the House John Boehner’s office fired back, “…this jobs proposal does not appear to have been offered in that ‘bipartisan’ spirit.” What kind of spirit was that John?  Are you for real?  Front runner Rick, “I’m gonna get you sucka”, Perry, in the meantime, made a complete fool of himself in the aforementioned debate, getting hit hard by the far right in the form(s) of Bachmann, Paul and Santorum, who spoke to his record on taxes, immigration, Social Security and a disturbing thirst for blood.  OK, I stretched the truth a little there, maybe I’m the only one who found it creepy that the only applause line from the previous debate came from NBC moderator and anchor Brian Williams who spoke to the fact that Perry has executed over 200 people during his tenure as Governor of the great state of Texas.  Yikes!  Among the criticism of Perry was, in this reporter’s humble opinion, his acceptance of monies from the giant pharmaceutical company Merck, who, in return for a mandate to inoculate 12 year old little girls for the HPV virus, gave him over 30,000 dollars–a real win-win for the gov and his lobbying friends, one of whom, was a former lobbyist for Merck, Inc., itself.  Can someone say Crony Capitalism?  Can someone get this guy a definition of that old phrase, “Conflict of Interest” ??  Please?! With Perry commanding a 42 percent of the ‘vote’ to Mitt Romney’s 26 percent, depending on the poll, it is hard to believe he will maintain that lead after last night’s performance…  But, hey, perhaps we are all wrong about Mr. Perry, maybe he is a nice guy, maybe he is, deep down inside, an environmentalist and all of this ‘tough talk’ is only an act…  “We’re going to be killed”, “killed? not killed,” …”It’s not the speed really, it’s just that,”… to quote one of our great American citizens…,“I just wish I hadn’t drank all of that cough syrup this morning…” (credit the great Bill Murray and the classic film “Stripes“).  Today, the President, who is in full engagement mode with the AMERICAN PEOPLE, as opposed to Mitch McConnell’s (R-KY) “American People” talking point number 7007, will be in Ohio, hopefully EDUCATING the public as to what needs to be done in order to get this economy out of the ditch it still seems to be stuck in.   The big problems facing this nation are, among others– a) housing, b) a 2.2 trillion dollar infrastructure investment, a much needed investment, c) unfair trade policies, d) globalization of manufacturing and overall cheap labor, e) a blatant culture war against organized labor and the poor, not to mention the middle class, and, finally, f) an unfair tax code that has proved to be the undoing of the concept of fair play and ‘the American way’… (of course, the BIG problem will, for ALL of us around the world, be global warming or ‘climate change’, via the rape and pillage of our earth–PROFIT OVER PEOPLE–brought to you by, THE big polluters, such as KOCH Industries, who pump 596 deadly chemicals into OUR American soil, in their ‘FRACKING’ process of attaining ‘natural gas’, most of which finds it’s way into our drinking water, killing everything in it’s path…but hey, why worry about that right, we can always make water, am I right?).   We are not a nation, as evidenced by the ten year anniversary of 9/11, that says to her people, ‘you, your parents and grandparents, are on your own.’ No, this nation, that was founded on the principal, not the personality, of WE THE PEOPLE–the people who hire and fire the leaders who are ELECTED, fairly elected, to serve themstands BY it’s greatest asset, the men, women and children of a once proud country, a people who are honest, hard working and eternally optimistic about that greatest country on planet earth, or used to be anyway, and can be again and will, by definition, always do so.  What planet are these guys and gals in the once proud and sane republican party living on anyway? Don’t they realize that, “This thing is ON?” So, America, and the world at large, especially those suffering in Europe right now, stay tuned, this can only get better!  Have a great day and please Google OXFAM, or savethechildren.org to help those in the greatest NEED of all, 12.5 million Somalian refugees, who are making their way to Kenya as I write these words, dying of hunger and thirst, without a nickle in their collective pockets, needlessly suffering in the worst FAMINE to hit that region, well, EVER.  Thank you.  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! ‘Morning Has Broken…’

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 9:37 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the fogged in island of Nantucket!  Great to be with you this Monday morning, the twelfth day of September, 2011, the day after the nation mourned her loses on the tenth annivesary of that fateful day, 9/11, a day that will live in infamy for many generations to come.  For on that day, we lost so many of our brothers and sisters, of all walks of life, from the top to the ‘bottom’ of our nation’s food chain, and came together as one nation, one people, one cause.  No matter the outcome of the past ten years, we should focus our attention on the FACT that WE can come together as ONE NATION and keep that higher sense of self, in all of US, forefront in our collective consciousness.  Unfortunately, most of us didn’t get the message and don’t see the full gift of what it truly means to forgive.  By forgiving others, we forgive ourselves.  This week in politics, here in the mundane world of political theater, the republican party will hold another debate with the two clear front runners, Rick, “Galileo called me and wants his analogy back”, Perry and Mitt, “Corporations are people too”, Romney going at it again, presumably about the ‘ponzi’ scheme of social security, where Rick, “coyote killer”, Perry will explain his fantastic book, “FED Up”, a classic story of a young Texas governor and how his personal relationship with ‘the Lord’ brought him to the conclusion that killing his prisoners is a ‘good idea’, and, moreover, his rather insane definition of what a ponzi scheme really IS.  Social Security, set up back in the 1930’s, was a program designed to, as President Franklin Delano Roosevelt stated so eloquently that many moons ago, “keep seniors out of the cold…” Senior Perry wishes to do just that, as he slashes medicaid in his state to do the same to poor children, who now, 1 in 5 have no access to health insurance of any kind–well done Rick, you are gettin’ ‘em when their coming and gettin’ ‘em when their going.  You sir, are a gentleman and a scholar.  At this critical hour in our nation’s economic and educational future, not to mention climate, pollution, and the rigged system the “United States of America” has partially become, the last thing this country needs is a dim version of our forty third President of the United States, George W. Bush. What this country needs, are leaders who are more interested in the business of  GOVERNING, their F#ckcing JOB, on behalf of it’s PEOPLE, ALL of it’s people, than they are in special interests monies coming from the dreaded ‘brother’s KOCH’, who are polluting our water and air to the tune of “we’re not going to have an environment much longer if they continue with the Tar sands pipeline from Canada”, a direct quote from a very reliable source that you can take to the bank.  My advice, buy water not gold.  So there it is in a nutshell folks, the country as it really IS.  How does a people fight back against all of this naked aggression, aggression against our basic freedoms, such as the new barbaric voter ID laws that began in Charles and David Koch’s puppet Governor Scott Walker’s state of Wisconsin and has spread like a cancer across this great land of ours, yes, how do WE wake up enough people to tell them to ‘tell a friend’ as to the Machiavellian power trip the republicans are really on?  I don’t know at the moment.  I know there are other, much more powerful voices than little old seacapecod.net out there, such as Keith Olbermann’s “Countdown, with Keith Olbermann”, airing every week night at 8 and 11 p.m., EDT, and the next morning at 7, and for that, I am eternally grateful.  It would be scary to think that I was the only one who was looking at the TRUTH, the truth being as disturbing as it is sometimes.   However, there is a whole lot of HOPE out their for this world, and all of the people in it, for somehow, the world is getting much smaller and it is becoming increasingly difficult for people in power to abuse it, making money out of other people’s suffering.  The days of raging racism and homophobia are no more, and if we were to take a step back from the madness, just for moment, don’t worry, you can go back to your Blackberry soon, and look at just how far not only this nation has come in the past 237 years, but the world at large, such as Apartheid falling in South Africa alone, perhaps we can take stock of the goodness that resides in ALL of us, even our so called ‘enemies’ and by the recognition of that FACT, we can move, albeit with some vigilance against violence, forward and see a brighter tomorrow for our children and grandchildren.  May you have a great week and please keep Somalia in your thoughts and prayers, that FAMINE has not gone away.  To help, visit OXFAM, or savethechildren.org, both reputable and reliable ways to help those with nothing, truly nothing, survive yet another day.  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! A Prayer on 9/11

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 7:25 pm

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the foggy island of Nantucket!  A simple reading from the Book of the Prophet Isaiah on this eve of the tenth anniversary of that horrific day ten years ago, by the actual day, today, a day that the world will never forget and indeed may never fully understand.  For where there is hate, let me bring LOVE, where there is vengeance, may I bring the spirit of forgiveness.  Where there is despair, let me bring the LIGHT of hope, building on a new future with better days and fewer tears.      May all be at peace~

‘Seek the Lord while he may be found,

call him while he is near.

Let the scoundrel forsake his way,

and the wicked his thoughts;

let him turn to the Lord for mercy;

to our God, who is generous

in forgiving.

For my thoughts are not your thoughts,

nor are your ways my ways,

says the Lord.

As high as the heavens are above

the earth,

so high are my ways above your ways

and my thoughts above your thoughts.

A better day…

Filed under: Blog — Tags: — Michael @ 4:07 pm

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the rainy island of Nantucket!  Great to be with you on this blustery day here in little old Osterville, a Friday, the ninth day of September, 2011.  Last night, of course, the President gave a speech to a joint session of congress, as he addressed the nation about the severe jobs crisis that has driven many of our citizens into the ground– financially, physically, mentally, and dare I say, spiritually.  In the “American Jobs Act”, the President outlined several key points–a) a payroll tax break (compromising half of the estimated 447 billion dollars, ‘paid for dollars’, are you listening super committee?), b) tax incentives for businesses who hire workers who have been looking for work for over six months, c) infrastructure spending, d) extending unemployment benefits.  “This isn’t about a culture war (did you happen to mention that to the republicans?), this is simple math.”  A direct quote from the President’s speech last night, as he stated, with some fire in the eyes, that although we are rugged individualists, saying, ‘you’re on your own’ is not who we are.  On ‘Countdown, with Keith Olbermann‘ last night, were two well versed guests, who broke down the speech to the base ingredients.  Jeff Madrick, author of ‘The Age of Greed’, and Elliot Spitzer, former New York Governor and New York Times contributor, spoke to the truths about the toxic environment Washington D.C. has become, with a plutocratic vision held so dear by the republican puppet show that to say ‘do nothing congress’ would represent a gross misunderstatement–for it is a corporate mandate coming down from on high that cares NOTHING about the common man, as they poison his water while shoving the fracking Madison Avenue ‘natural gas’ advertisements down his collective throat.  The economy, as Keith pointed out, has three main components as it’s fuel, it’s engine if you will.  Number one is consumer demand, number two is investment by businesses, and number three is government spending.  However, as we all know, global corporations have become giants and therefore care not about this country, per say, rather, care about the bottom line, soothing investors along the way, as the cavern between the haves and the have nots can be micro-cosmically measured by every CEO’s salary, when taken in comparison with the average worker bee.  The ‘jobs’ that our buddy Rick, “are ya feelin’ lucky? Well, are ya, punk?”, Perry ‘created’ in Texas as governor are of the minimum wage variety (the beginning of a new slave worker pool), as our economy looks more and more like a service economy everyday, as opposed to a country that still builds things and leads the way in science, engineering and the evolution of energy.  Current(v)ly, the United States is being sold a bag of goods by a greedy few who have rigged the system for their own benefit.  With all the money drained from the housing crisis, a manufactured crisis that began with a couple of financial wizards on Wall Street, as they bundled and re-bundled mortgage backed securities by the truckload, derivatives, or ‘credit default swaps’, garbage that was rated by our ‘friends’ at Standard and Poor’s as AAA, the economy was ready to fall.  When the dam burst early in 2008, and the rats left the ship, sorry for the mixed metaphor, the American People were left holding the bag, many of whom are now under water, figuratively and literally– check the weather report in portions of Binghamton, New York this morning–holding the bag for the debacle that WAS the Bush presidency.  Therefore, one might conclude that without looking hard at the housing crisis that we are still really in, while taking a good look at the tax code, reviewing what Paul O’Neill, former Bush Treasury Secretary, would have objected to, if he would have been invited to the table, namely the Bush tax cuts of 2001 and 2003, this country of ours is still and will be for the foreseeable future in a Japan like no growth economy, where the rich will continue to enjoy the spoils of this current system, the middle class will fall down to the status of working poor, and the people that are on the margins will fall by the way side as we set up ‘freeclinicsUS’ more and more, with millions of people in hunger, in despair and in disillusionment.  President Obama deserves high marks for his bravery and spirit, evoking the past so as to LIGHT the way for the future, however, as Mr. Madrick points out, he MUST begin to EDUCATE the people as to what is true, yes, factual about our economy, while simultaneously explaining  what is erroneous, false and misleading, a sick function FOX NEWS does all too well.  One simple way to do this would be to explain to the “American People” (credit Mitch, ” Our number one goal is to make Obama one term President”, McConnell, R-KY) as to that basic economic model aforementioned, namely this–when people don’t have a job any longer at the plant they had worked, say, for the past thirty years, because those jobs were shipped off to China or the like, then they do not have the money to buy goods and services, thus, creating a lack of demand from businesses and corporations that provide such services, therein creating a vicious cycle that cannot be broken until basic fundamental changes are made, such as tackling the insane tax code we have and looking at how we can re-EDUCATE our people, the mass majority of OUR PEOPLE, who, last time I checked, do most of the living a dying in this nation.  Again, this cycle continues until the government, as it has done in the past with President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s New Deal, a move that pulled America out of the Great Depression while also giving us the gift of Social Security, a program that is as far from a “ponzi scheme and violent attack on American morality”–a quote out of Rick, “I’m a REAL Christian”, Perry’s rather dim witted mouth–as the concept of a corporation being a human being–yes, this cycle will continue until some one wakes these idiots up to the FACT that if we don’t borrow vast sums of money from the FED, at historically low interests rates NOW, this very young country of ours will split in two, for it IS a culture war, corporate greed versus the common man, and only one side is playing the game, everyone else is just an observer of what is REALLY going on.  Borrowing that money to stimulate the economy will turn the tide in the other direction, for every economist worth his or her salt will tell you that we can deal with the long term deficit problem later, all brought to you by, The BUSH administration, give ‘em a big hand folks, thanks for the memories, down the road, per the low interest rates, and deal with this economy HEAD ON, as opposed to skirting the issue.  If WE really care about OUR PEOPLE Mr. President, go out and EDUCATE them as to the TRUTH, for the truth does not need defending, only warped egos do.  If you put it this way, to the people who put you in office, I can assure you Mr. Mitt, “Corporations are People too”, Romney will begin to look a little different in the LIGHT of that one and only TRUTH.  ‘What you do to the least of me you do unto me…” words to live by don’t YA think Rick?  Or is ‘your’ Christianity of the A La Carte variety?  The world would love to know.  Have a wonderful day and week end folks and please keep the folks in Somalia in your thoughts and prayers, to help Google Oxfam or visit savethechildren.org.  Your help is greatly appreciated. See you tomorrow, same bat time, same bat channel.  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M

One Tree Hill

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 9:41 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the super island of Nantucket!  Great to be with you on this Wednesday morning, the seventh day of September, 2011, another soggy one on Cape, as you look above at an ancient cedar tree sitting atop “Faith Hill” here in Osterville, the tiny seaside village that is a mere football toss to Hyannis Port, in the background to the east, former home to our thirty-fifth President of the United States of America, his beautiful wife Jackie and his brother’s Teddy and Bobby, who, in their lifetimes, MADE a difference in the lives of so many ‘ordinary’ citizens of this great land, striving for high ideals that had nothing to do with corporate money, the lust for power, or a general sell out of those same, now talking point, “American People”…  As we get ready for tonight’s debate in California, broadcasting at 8 p.m. EDT, on NBC, where republican Presidential candidates try and “out Christian”, or “out Mormon”, as it were, each other in an attempt to show the world just how big of an as$hole(s) they really ARE, falsely claiming they stand by the American worker, who has taken it on the chin for the past three decades or so, we must take a step back to comprehend just what their philosophy has done and will continue to do to our most vulnerable citizenry, as well as the middle class itself, a dying breed at the moment…  James Hoffa Jr. put it best when he called them out, at a rally in Detroit with our current President Obama following, with his words, well spoken sir, “sons of bitches” and called on the crowd, and indeed all Americans, to ‘take them out at the ballot box’.  FOX NEWS, of course, jumped all over this one, the same FOX NEWS channel that PROMOTES violent rhetoric, proving once again that our ‘fun friends’ over at FIXED NEWS (credit Keith Olbermann of Current TV’s “Countdown with Keith Olbermann, airing every week night at 8 p.m., 11, 2 a.m. and 7 a.m., EDT) are full of proverbial horse$hit.  Oh, Roger Ailes, is their nothing your tubby being can’t do?  Following the much anticipated debate between the two front runners, Romney and Perry, will be President Obama’s speech on Thursday, where he will propose a 300 billion dollar jobs stimulus package, designed to break the gridlock in Washington, gridlock by design, via the obstructionists the republican party has become–a speech regarding ‘getting America back to work’…a tall order for any President in this toxic environment, you know, with all the ‘young guns’ and such.  The President, at the behest of many of his supporters, including this one, will call out the republicans on their TRUE intentions, thus, bringing light to all who live in this nation, what these guys are really all about–“IT’S THE MONEY ARTHUR, THE MONEY.” “Burt Johnson, he’s a criminal!”  “We’re all criminals Arthur, congratulations, you are going to be a wealthy man for the rest of your life”  “That’s all I’ve ever wanted to be…” (credit the classic film, “Arthur”, starring the incomparable, late, great Dudley Moore, Sir John Gielgud, and Liza Minnelli).  Of course, in that metaphor, Arthur is one of the good guys, opting for LOVE in the end, and still winning his fortune nonetheless.  A good moral for this story in 2011, where so many republicans, many of them good men and women, have sold their soul to the Devil, coming in the form of this puppet “Grover” Norquist, who acts as the corporate liaison, or leg breaker, for the plutocratic interests that have taken over this nation.  Don’t believe me?  Take a good look around your town or city today, I mean really LOOK, go down to places where people have NOTHING and tell me something doesn’t STINK in Denmark.  From the evisceration of the EPA to the dismantling of our education system, we are creating a country that will soon be full of stupid and heavy on desperate, an easily manipulated and crushed electorate, who gets hassled now even at the voting booth, i.e. tough new voter ID registration in states like Wisconsin where a puppet of ‘the brother’s KOCH’, not to be confused with “The Brother’s Grim”, Scott Walker, current Governor of that great state, recently introduced a policy that makes it very difficult for the poor, the elderly and the young to exercise their RIGHT to VOTE, thus allowing for the possibility that a “man” like Rick, “I’ll shoot you if I have to”, Perry could become President, a position on par with a Jack Kennedy…what a JOKE.  So, get your popcorn out, per the orders of Mr. Olbermann, the Dean of Journalism, sorry Keith, it’s the TRUTH, pick up those styrofoam bricks you use to throw at the television set and enjoy, for there is nothing better than watching grown men LIE to 308 million American citizens, as they attempt to explain just how “good” corporations are–”for they are your neighbors, your friends, indeed, your family”… giving so much back to the community by way of 596 deadly chemicals used in the fracking process of attaining ‘natural gas’, I’m sure you have seen the ads by Madison Avenue wizards, another example of profit over people as corporate monsters continue to rape and pillage our land for their gain, at the expense of OUR water, OUR air, and OUR right to ‘pursue happiness’, pursue it not in a rigged system, rather, pursue it in the name of little ‘d’ democracy, something the Kennedy family embraced for their eternal grace. Have a nice day folks and keep the people on the Somalian/Kenyan border in your prayers, all 12 million of them, for they are starving and need all the help they can get.  Much like it could be in this country soon if things don’t begin to change for her people, whose names are not Exxon-Mobile, Goldman Sachs or United Healthcare.  If you wish to help in that epic FAMINE, please Google Oxfam, a  great organization, or visit savethechildren.org / care.org…humanitarians who get the point of helping a brother and sister in need.  For in the end, their need is yours as well.   PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Cape Shower

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 8:37 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the rainy island of Nantucket!  Great to be back with you on this dark and stormy morning here on Cape, Tuesday morning, the sixth day of September, 2011, Brewster to be precise, and I pray ‘ya’ll’ had a great week end, hopefully one that was not filled with political rhetoric that we in the ‘news’ business must endure day in and day out, perhaps taking in a good movie such as a Turner Classic Film that starred Jack Lemmon and Shirley McClain’s 1960 magic named, “Let’s make Love”… One can always dream, can one not?  However, the week end is over for the moment and it is back to the wonderful world of obstructionists, cynics, pundits, politics, and pageantry.  This week, we have a blockbuster, assuming you have at least a little of that addiction to politics in America, in this late year of 2011…  The republicans–Rick, “I’m holding”, Perry (Governor of Texas) leading the way with 38 percent, Willard, “Mitt”, Romney coming in at 23 percent and our friend Michelle, “I’m not homophobic”, Bachmann falling back to fourth place at 8 percent–will be debating with each other this week on NBC, to see who is more to the ‘right’ of the other, as they all jockey for the one job and only job they are concerned about in America today…President Barack Obama’s.  Meanwhile, our current President, who was in Detroit yesterday giving a jobs speech, will be giving an even bigger speech, and hopeful blue print, on Thursday in an attempt to call the republicans out on their obstructionism, a ploy that has worked thus far.  There is no doubt that this country is in trouble.  Never before, at least since the Great Depression, has the length of ‘time’ been so great for those out of work in so far as the amount of weeks it takes to find that employment, standing at 40 plus.  However, what is more disturbing is the FACT that most of those jobs, now overseas, will not be returning–EVER.  The people that are being hurt the most are the under educated young, the old, the poor, and minority groups such as young African American males whose unemployment stands at 16.7 percent.  That segment of OUR population has been left out of the equation, as if they are no longer part of this country, and for many Americans, perhaps the majority, feeling of those same sentiments as well.  With the ‘Grand Canyon’ gap between the haves and the have nots continuing to widen, the ‘American People’, that Mitch,“I’m not a mouse”, McConnell (R-KY) speaks of so often and so arrogantly ‘for’, grow more and more concerned about their futures everyday, with that gap, silently, getting that much more obvious.  They see candidates like “Mitt” Romney stating, “…corporations are people too my friend”, and wonder yet again, “whose side are these guys on anyway?” Of course, our friend Dick Cheney exemplified this point so well in his fictional novel, “In My Time”, a point that gaffes, like the aforementioned, might just finally wake people up to what these clowns have been all about from the get go--THE MONEY. “You’re all about the money”, said one reporter at seacapecod.net, money for “people” like Exxon-Mobile, Goldman Sachs, Koch Industries, Massey Energy, “United” Healthcare , or some obscure hedge fund group in Greenwich, Connecticut, far away from the streets of Detroit, in the state of Michigan, where “they”, a republican governor, named Rick Snyder, are taking over entire towns and closing up shop, leaving the “American People of Michigan” high and dry, or, as in the case of this past week and a half with Hurricane Irene, underwater and drowning in yet another natural disaster that is a direct result of climate change.  More about that on tomorrow’s broadcast.  For the layman, this is not as clear as it should be, and to that WE charge the President to be SPECIFIC and EXPLAIN, like a junior high school teacher, what needs to be done to get the people of this great land back to a job that can at least pay for a ‘Big Mac’ every now and again, as sad as that sounds.  For there are many in this country who go without food, as their unemployment benefits have run out, utilizing their measly 140 dollars in food stamps every month to buy enough to feed their kids and themselves, with most relying on food banks that have no food to give.  “Who are these guys anyway?? ” (credit the late, great Paul Newman in the classic film “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid”…also starring the incomparable actor and environmentalist Robert Redford).  Not very funny, but really, who are these guys and what vision is this for a country that was based on the concept of ‘WE THE PEOPLE’?  Hope you have a wonderful week ahead, stay dry and safe and please remember to read BETWEEN the lines, the ever nauseating talking points that are laid out by people like me, writers, who help our friends on the right with the key WORDS, that act as a virtual dog whistle to those who are dispossessed, dispirited, disillusioned, and deeply disappointed.   God bless us EVERYONE!  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! ‘Light from the Lighthouse, shine on me…’

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 8:29 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the sometimes foggy island of Nantucket!  Great to be with you on this Sunday morning, the fourth day of September, 2011, and I hope you and yours are enjoying a fine Labor Day week end.  Before the Sunday morning talk shows come on in roughly an hour, shows that will undoubtedly be speaking to the severe jobs crisis in America, the President’s upcoming speech on Thursday about how we can ‘fix it’, a tall order considering the ‘other half’ of our failing democracy is hell bent on tanking the economy so as to fill that position with the likes of someone such as Rick, “I’m concealing a weapon”, Perry, or something to do with the upcoming republican debates that will be moderated by NBC’s Brian Williams, I can tell you one thing that will not be discussed–the environment.  I will go into this in the next week in greater detail, however, to keep it simple on this Sunday morning, the Obama administration made a great blunder on Friday by allowing big corporate polluters, such as Koch Industries, to keep on doing what they do best–raping our land for profit at the expense of our own people’s health–as in clean air and clean drinking water. It seems that the EPA, the environmental protection agency, will no longer have ANY teeth whatsoever, as the clean air standards set back in 1997, that needed to be updated for all of the NEW pollution, have expired, leaving the big polluters, ALL of them, a carte blanche to do whatever they wish, with no oversight and no penalties for creating air quality levels akin to 1930’s London, where the fog was so dense with sub-atomic particles from the factory smoke stacks, that people could not breathe…hence the famous “London Fog” we all thought was so quaint back when we were all ignorant of a little word called SCIENCE.  Another item the Sunday morning talk shows will not be speaking to are the contents, the real contents, of Dick Cheney’s new book, “In my time”, a interesting read if you are into fictional history, such as as Michener or the like…  On September 2nd, Reverend Al Sharpton, notable civil rights activist, and new host of MSNBC’s “Politics Nation”, airing every week night at 6 p.m., EDT, highly recommended, had, as his guest, John Nichols, of the Nation Magazine. John has written two, count them, 2, books on our former ‘Vice President’, Dick Cheney, and, of course, has read the aforementioned fiction.  In this interview, John pointed out some FACTS about Mr. Cheney, in Dick’s own words, you know, written by HIM, and some of his recent comments about the ‘reckless spending’ being done by the current administration in comparison with his own.  For the record, the Obama administration has spent 1.44 trillion dollars (figures projected out to the year 2017), compared to the Bush administration’s 5.7 trillion.  Who was in charge of all of that ‘run away spending’ anyway?  According to Dick, he was, for when budget talks ever came up, the Treasury Secretary at the time, Paul O’Neill, was not invited to the table.  According to Nichols, Paul was the “only successful businessman at the table as Dick Cheney, the former CEO of now infamous Halliburton ‘of Iraq’, ran that company into the ground before becoming the Vice President of this here United States in 2000, and then, as he took control of the Executive branch, ran THIS country into the ground, per the evidence you see on the streets of America today.”  Sorry John for paraphrasing a little bit there, but I think we all get the point.  The reason Mr. O’Neill was not invited to the table was for his ‘obstructionist’ views on irresponsible tax breaks for billionaires and millionaires, who, have made out like bandits in this past decade of the war, war on both a literal and figurative front–wars with other sovereign nations for profit along with the wars against the common man in this great land of ours.  What strikes me as odd is simply this–why would anyone be proud of THAT?  Food for thought on this Sunday brunch from Cape Cod and the islands, sorry to disturb you, but if you want real, honest “Nichols”, look no further than John’s articles in “The Nation Magazine”, where you won’t find any of the wooden variety found on the Rupert Murdoch fun hour of FOX NEWS, where the horse$hit never stops flying.  Have a wonderful rest of the week end folks and, who knows, perhaps you will get another ‘message in a bottle’ from seacapecod.net tomorrow morning–same bat time, same bat channel.   Oh, and, as an extremely important side note, please help, should you wish, your brothers and sisters on the Somalian/Kenyan border, all 12 million of them, mostly women and children, who are dying in the worst FAMINE the world has ever witnessed.  To help Google Oxfam for more information, or visit, savethechildren.org or care.org–you will be glad you did.  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M

A Breach–Humpack Style

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 9:17 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the foggy island of Nantucket!  Great to be with you on this fabulous Friday morning, the second day of September, 2011, here in the little tiny, tiny seaside village of Osterville, only a mere football toss from Hyannis Port, the former home to our Thirty-Fifth President of the United States of America, Mr. Jack Kennedy, his beautiful wife Jackie and the rest of that extraordinary family that did so much for this nation–a nation that looks so different in today’s light of gridlock, greed, posturing, political/economic/environmental Stockholm Syndrome(s) and social injustices, not to mention ‘inequality for all’…  As it is now September, I would be remiss if I did not do a little house cleaning before launching into my daily ‘liberal tree huggin’ radical rant’, as it seems on Wednesday–while crediting my good friend, and yours, if you know what’s good for ‘YA, Mr. Keith Olbermann, the Dean of modern day journalism in my humble opinion, who moved from MSNBC, via the corporate orders from the new parent company Comcast no doubt, to Al Gore and company’s ‘CURRENT TV’, a cable news station that provides not only “Countdown, with Keith Olbermann”, airing every weeknight at 8, let me repeat that, 8 p.m. and 11 p.m., EDT, as well as 2 a.m., 7 a.m. and I believe noon the next day, should you be like me and go to bed early sometimes so as to not have nightmares, yes, Current TV, offering “50 documentaries to see before you die”, as well as great movies ‘you just can’t see anywhere else…movies like Al Gore’s 2006 film, “An Inconvenient Truth”, speaking to, of course, the ‘hoax’ of global warming or, what some like to ‘political correctly’ say, climate change–yes, it seemed I made a mistake and said the show was on at 7, and to this I am deeply sorry as I was thinking about what time I sometimes watch it early the next day.  To make up for this error on my part, Keith, I will quote Mr. Oscar Wilde, and say, regarding the misquoting of the time of your great show…“it was one of Shaw’s!” If you are not familiar with English literature, Oscar Wilde was one of the greatest satirical writer’s of our ‘time’, as well as George Bernard Shaw, who once said of some of history’s greatest jacka$s brutal dictators, “your majesty is like a stream of bat piss, where all else is dark around you, you shine out like a golden light,” of course, he also said of the King at the time, “your majesty is like a dose of the clap, before your arrival pleasure, now, with your arrival, only a pain in the dark.”  Or was that Graham Chapman?  I can’t be sure at this early morning hour.  Thank you for pointing out that error on Wednesday night’s broadcast, my fiance and I were flattered and honored as always.  P.S. I hope you got that message the other day, feel free to come up to the Cape anytime, ‘we’ll leave the LIGHT on for ‘YA!’ Moving now to another topic that will be on the minds of many people in the next few days, is the tenth anniversary of “9/11″, a day that changed history in this country and indeed around the world forever.  On Keith’s old network, one of his proteges, in a way, Rachel Maddow, of “The Rachel Maddow Show”, a great show on at 9 p.m., EDT, only on MSNBC, coupled with the fantastic field reporter Richard Engel, of NBC NEWS, put together a gripping documentary that began last night and continues tonight with part’s two and three, “Day of Destruction, Decade of War”. In this most excellent documentary, these veteran journalists, and I mean that in every sense of the definition of the word journalism, go into great detail about what the events leading up to, during and after the attacks on our nation, September 11, 2011, actually did to this country, it’s people and the world at large.  Looking back on the choices made by the Bush administration to go to war against a sovereign nation that had nothing to do with the attacks, leaving over 4400 of our soldiers dead, along with over 100,000 Iraqis, but, perhaps more disturbing, the explosion of fear and intimidation that the new ‘homeland security’ forged, a giant new, extremely expensive ‘top secret America’ that now consists of 22 separate agencies that not only spy on our own citizens, but put people in secret prisons all over the world, all in the name of ’security’, (for who?), with crazy new tactics deployed by members of secret military operations like Blackwater, sorry Xe, the softer side of that insane grenade launching hand, who are above the law and take away our basic liberties we all enjoy because of REAL MEN like Jefferson, Franklin, Paine, Lafayette, Adams, Washington, and Hamilton, not to mention their brothers who came after them, such as Lincoln, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Robert Kennedy and, of course, Martin Luther King Jr… There is no doubt that September 11, 2001 marked a day none of US will ever forget, however, it should not define US as a nation, for, as Benjamin Franklin put it so well so many moons ago, and I paraphrase a little here, but not much, “If one is willing to put security above liberty, then one is likely to lose both and deserve neither.” I would highly recommend watching tonight at 9 p.m., after “Countdown” of course, this very rich show full of real facts and scary details of what could be in store for this country should we elect an armed dog whistler like Rick Perry of Texas, the good governor who privatized the C.H.I.P. program in his state (for profit) for poor children in his state, resulting in 1 in 5 children being without any health care coverage at all, while putting “America back to work” at McDonald’s, Walmart, or some other international corporate conglomerate whose only interest in creating ‘new jobs’ is to do away with the minimum wage so that “the American People” can feel like it must have been like to be a slave–for that is what is truly going on here folks, a culture war between the haves and the have nots, with the latter losing their voice more and more every day because of crooked cops, crooked lawyers and crooked judges, not to mention crooked politicians who are merely puppets for the modus operadi of the coming plutocracy, “PROFIT OVER PEOPLE”! Have a wonderful week end folks and remember, wooden nickles can be used for many different purposes, but one of those is not for higher KNOWLEDGE, for Rupert Murdoch learned long ago, that Knowledge IS power and his minions over at FOX NEWS are certainly not going to give you any of that.  Argggghhhhh matie! PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~
