Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the great island of Nantucket!  Great to be with you on this fine Tuesday morning here in Osterville, the little seaside village off the beaten path five miles, as the Osprey flies, from Hyannisport, home to the late, great Jack Kennedy, his wife Jackie and all of the other members of a family you would be proud to come to understand, as provided by countless books on Kennedy clan, and how they too, made a huge difference in the lives of ordinary men and women, children and wildlife, that make up this beautiful country that we ALL share…  Listening to Mark Kirk, newly elected Senator from Illinois?, no, that can’t be right, it must be Indiana, no, well, who cares really, listening to that clown yesterday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe”, with Joe and Mika Scarborough?, just kidding, again yesterday, when one of my favorite contributors to that show, Mike Barnacle, formerly from the Boston Globe and now, still one of the best columnists in the United States, working for the Boston Herald, asked a very well thought out and simple question, “how can you justify all of the BUSH era programs that were implemented without, as you all cry incessantly, “being paid for”, such as the BUSH tax cuts of 2001 and 2003, Medicare part D, you know, that big pharma subsidy, and two wars that were not funded at ALL, how can you NOW say, “we are for extending unemployment benefits to 2 million real American people, IF they are paid for.”  How can you say that with a straight face?  Sorry for the paraphrasing there Mike, and p.s., Merry Christmas from the Cape and Islands and to all at “Morning Joe”!  The dear in the headlights vacant stare of Kirk, Captain Kirk if you please, only accents his robotic, and I will say more about that in a minute, answer, as he dodges the question all together, throwing out the new fear mongering talking point #501… “We may have a double dip recession if we don’t pass a tax cut for the extremely rich who have seen their income go up by 278 percent since 1982 when this whole thing started, ooopps, was that out loud?… what I meant to say was that if we don’t give a tax break to all of these poor folks who have been “uncertain”, you know that group of people that you may know who are concerned whether or not they can purchase a new house in Maui, oh, my gosh, I did it again, I am having some kind of a melt down here, can we pause for commercial, no?, well, again, to my original talking point, damn, I did it again, if we don’t extend the tax breaks for the wealthiest Americans, i.e. the corporate plutocracy, and, yo, well, now where was I, ahh, yeah, you just have to go back to our talking point #7007 which clearly states “go back and look at the tax and out of control spending policies of Nancy Pelosi… well, you know the rest.”…… thus, proving that Senator elect from, again, who cares, Kirk, is nothing more than a robotic puppet on a string whose levers are pulled by the multi-national corporate sponsors who hired him, via secret donations courtesy of the Robert’s Court and the folly of the Citizens United decision, lending real credit to who and what these people really are–carpet bagging snake oil salesmen who are selling out the United States of America–the birthplace of the conceptualized reality of a little known word these days…DEMOCRACY! Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the great island of Nantucket!  Great to be with you on this gorgeous Monday morning, the 29th day of November, 2010, as evidenced by the image of Dowses Beach above here in Osterville.  I hope you had a restful Thanksgiving break and are not too angry at being back at work today.  Yesterday, as predicted, the Sunday talk shows had plenty in the way of punditry, however, ABC’s “This Week, with Christiane Amanpour”, held a special place in my heart, for the entire hour was dedicated to three, well, four if you consider the Gates as separate, which they are most definitely not, billionaires–Warren Buffet, Ted Turner and the aforementioned Bill and Melinda Gates, who all gave outstanding interviews to Christiane regarding philanthropy, and the efforts of men and women in this great nation to give back, some giving as much as 90 percent back, pulling from their huge stock piles of wealth to literally change the world and make it a better place.  Warren Buffet was noted for his vision of what GIVING really means and has my vote for the next President of the United States.  Ted Turner’s story was even better, in the sense that he really lost quite alot, in more ways than just money, and bounced back with an attitude of charity, rather than the cut throat politics of the soul less capitalistic society we seem to be living in right now.  Bill and Melinda were, in a word, WONDERFUL, and you could see the LIGHT as it shown in their eyes when describing, say, their work in Africa with AIDS orphans, bringing that beacon to an otherwise uncaring and cold world.  There is so much in this world that can be done for so little, if we all changed our attitudes about what WEALTH really IS.  A kind word, a loving touch, a hug, a wink, a nod, a hand when all else seemed out of reach?  Hard to quantify I know, and it is not easy to give when you may feel as though you have nothing to give to begin with…perhaps, therein lies the rub.  For if you give five dollars to someone when you only have ten dollars to your name, it amounts to the same thing that Warren Buffet is doing on a regular basis with billions of dollars.  But, Warren put it even better than that, when he said, and I paraphrase, “I have never wanted for anything, not a meal, not a movie ticket, so when someone gives out of the deepest levels of their pockets when it may hurt a little, that should be recognized and applauded.”  I don’t know about you, but when I hear the puppets speak to the Bush Tax cuts and their concern over “uncertainty” for people who have so much more than most, shunning the “American People” who are losing their unemployment benefits this week, I have to ask, “are you F##$king kidding me?”  These “men”, McConnell (the mouse) and Boehner (billy bob) are shills for multi-national corporations who are their employer, not the so called, ad nauseum, “American People” that they claim they speak for.  Yes, the “man behind the curtain”–expressed so well by the late, great Frank L. Baum, author and the creator of “The Wizard of OZ”, along with many other books regarding that magical, made up realm–has no face, other than the holograms you may see out the corner of your eye when watching a FOX NEWS broadcast, and further, has no soul, with no consequences for his actions because he too is made up, created out of thin air and given the same rights as real, live human beings who need air, food, water and safety in order to LIVE a LIFE that was afforded them by men far superior to any CEO out there…men like Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, George Washington, Thomas Paine, Abraham Lincoln and, dare I say, JACK KENNEDY!  So, thank you Christiane for that amazing look into the lives of some great PATRIOTS, the Gates family, Warren Buffet and Ted Turner who are truly making a difference in this “world” called the United States of America and the many countries around the globe that are so far down the scale our attention deficit disorder minds here in the good ‘ole USA cannot even begin to conceive of.  Have a wonderful day folks!  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the great island of Nantucket!  Great to be with you on this Sunday morning, the 28th day of November, 2010, and on a beautiful day here in Osterville, I bid you and yours a fair and fine adieu.  While I wait, with the rest of the political junkies out there, for the Sunday morning talk shows to begin, one “pundit” at a time, I thought I might take a few moments of your day to ask you to consider what this transfer of power really means to the country as a whole.  You see, the corporate owned airwaves tell you only so much, in a very short amount of “time” (with an audience with an even shorter attention span), telling you what “they” want you to hear, think and feel about what “they” see as what you should or should not be privy to, tying it up with a big red bow, presented with civility and grace, while they HIDE most, if not all, of the TRUTH. We have such large problems as a nation, and world as a whole, that to even consider that amount of information and create a plausible solution, as given by the “pundits”, is ludicrous.  What we need is a real LIVE debate in this country, for the men and women of the Senate and House of Representatives to stand up and FIGHT for the survival of this great land before it is too late.  The answer has always been as simple as “We”, as in “We the People”, for it is within the “WE” that we find you and me.  Somehow, this country has forgotten a lesson our forefathers learned a long time ago–and that is the fact that oppression, in any form, is WRONG and should be called out as such.  We also have a global problem with climate change (and a problem with the oppression of that FACT by our “media experts”) that will not put it’s head in the proverbial sand like many, if not all, of our elected officials.  If something is not done about it, the human race will change significantly, as one species dies off, one after the other, and we are left with a world that is not only unsuitable for our “GRANDCHILDREN”, but will be unsuitable for LIFE itself–and the generations that come after us, much like their reaction to slavery during the years after the Civil War, will be something like, “What were you thinking about?”… “Why did you let this happen to our planet?”… “What good is money if you have destroyed what GOD himself created–the planet EARTH and all of the animals, the trees, the marsh lands and most of all the oceans that carry LIFE from one shining sea to the next.”  Just a little food for thought as you listen to Mitch, “the mouse”, McConnell or our pal John, “billy bob”, Boehner, the next “Speaker” of the House… Have a wonderful day everyone and may creative intelligence save us from ourselves!   PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the great island of Nantucket!  Good to be with you this Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, and I hope that you and yours had a peaceful, joyous time together.  The cold rains are pouring down all over the Cape and Islands this morning, with little let up in sight, so it looks like a good day to stay indoors and read a good book– perhaps the new Sarah Palin fiction or Bush memoir, although I would rather watch the Weather Channel all day as it would provide more in the way of mental stimulation… Today, of course, being one of the slowest ‘news’ days of the year, I believe that it important to note that 2 million people will lose their unemployment benefits on December 1, as the 111th Congress failed to pass an extension for those folks, all while the newly formed, even more centralized, republican party, better known as REPUBLICORP, pushes for continuing the Bush tax cuts (to the tune of 700 billion dollars, money borrowed directly from China so that “they” can lose their “uncertainty”) for the top two percent as if it were more important than the sun rising tomorrow.  Record bonuses are expected to be paid out to Wall Street executives in the next few weeks and with corporations boasting of even higher record profits, 1.6 TRILLION, millions of American families all across our great land are going to be plenty “uncertain” as they are going hungry by record numbers and are wondering how they are going to put that food on the table, let alone pay their heating bills, mortgages or buy Christmas presents for their children…  We are living in dark times, for the misinformation out there, coming from propaganda stations such as FOX NEWS, continues to spin the story to their corporate masters needs and will.  45 percent of Americans do not even know that the republican party has taken over the House of Representatives, and thus, could not know any of the intricacies of U.S. tax law (favoring corporations and wealthy individuals via the shady loopholes collected over the past 30 years that you could fly a C-17 Transport through), let alone the misguided vision REPUBLICORP has for what is left of the middle class in the United States of America.  Education is the answer to all of these problems, however, with funding for TRUTH outlets like NPR and PBS, and certain shows on MSNBC, such as “Countdown, with Keith Olbermann”, airing every week night at 8 and 11 p.m., EST, only on MSNBC, shrinking to a trickle, the airwaves, that are now mostly owned by said multi-national corporations, will become more poisonous and rank with LIES, innuendo and misinformation designed to confuse and corral the “American People” into believing what their captors want them to believe…i.e., that the reason this country is on the “wrong track”, especially with jobs, is due to the socialistic policies of one President Obama, the liberal media, intellectuals and scholars whose main goal is to tell the public the TRUTH and stop putting their head in the sand– to fight for their rights as citizens of this great land to live just as long and healthy a life as the soon to be ruling elite–the PLUTOCRACY metaphorically represented in the form of the GRAND CANYON, where the chasm between the haves and the have nots is just as wide as that famous national, natural monument created by the mighty Colorado River over the course of EONS…the only difference being that amount of “time” that it has taken for this to occur in our society–less than 30 years.  As I watched a documentary yesterday on Climate Change, I was shocked to see all of the mountains that are being blown up in the Appalachian Mountain range.  Mining for coal, these corporations, such as KOCH industries are literally raping and pillaging our land, destroying the fragile eco-system and literally getting away with murder, as towns all across West Virginia literally shrivel up and die, for there is no work to be found and no way out, for the corporate mandate of PROFIT OVER PEOPLE is much louder than the poor souls who live there, who cry out, “someone please make them stop”…  This nation must realize, at some juncture, that corporate profits are not more valuable than a human being’s life and as we continue to fight wars in far away lands, “bringing peace and democracy to the region”, all under the guise of helping the “people”, while we dump on our own, may we come to understand the INTENTION, the real intention of why we are at war to begin with–what is the purpose of spending 2 billion dollars a day in Afghanistan?  What is the REAL intention of this war, when we are clearly losing, while millions of our own people starve to death, have no access to decent medical care, and are cut off from educating their children so that they don’t have to endure what their parents are going through right now, for they will be armed with KNOWLEDGE and we all know that Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the great island of Nantucket!  So great to be with you on this eve before the most important holiday this country has ever had and ever will, Thanksgiving Day…a time to see that “time” is just that, but the PRESENT is paramount to recalling what WE all hold dear and holy in this most beautiful world that is free and clear for all of us to SEE… should we choose to.  Looking up at that image of the Unity Church, taken only a few days ago in a place I call the most holy places on planet earth, Hyannisport, Massachusetts, the home of the late, great President Jack Kennedy, his beautiful wife Jackie, his sister Eunice, his brothers Teddy, Bobby, his father Joe Senior, and his mother Rose Kennedy and all of the wonderful members of that family that took me all the way to this little sand bar created 11,500 years ago by the last great ICE AGE, forming the islands of Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard and the long island of Long Island, I give my greatest thanks…I give my greatest effort right here, right now, to those souls who saw what I had been searching for my whole life–a place to call HOME.  There is no doubt in my mind that if it were not for the ideals that Jack held over 50 years ago, when he was elected to the office of the President of the United States, along with his brother Bobby and my dear friend Teddy, his youngest brother, I would not be writing this “blog” today…for it was 8 plus years ago (having failed twice before…leaving the corporate world behind) that I made one last attempt to “land” in a place I fell in love with so long ago–Cape Cod, Massachusetts.  When I was first introduced to this wonder, it was a simpler time, 1987, and having just graduated from the University of Vermont and working at the Edgartown Yacht club, located in Edgartown on Martha’s Vineyard, I was “pushed” into the “real world”, accepting my first job with the Prudential in New York, knowing that someday, somehow, I would return…  I, of course, fell in love with someone from Michigan, a girl who was working for that same Yacht club and on her summer break from Michigan State, and thus, followed her to Detroit after spending 2 years in the ‘Big Apple’, working for 23,500 a year as a “group rep”, and therefore logically living and commuting from Jersey City, via the ‘path’ train, I continued to follow that dream of coming back to Camelot–a place that holds more magic than Gandalf himself.  But, it would take 17 years to make that so.  There were many pit falls on the way, to truly breaking out of the corporate milieu that I had found myself in, and on that fateful day I left Denver, Colorado, July 25th, 2003, for the final time, destination Nantucket, I felt like I had a real shot at realizing my dream–becoming a full time writer in the place I call, once again, the most holy I have ever been privileged enough to visit on this little blue rock I call earth.  It was a hard landing, as the NPD had different plans for me on August 2, 2003 when I had my head “slam dunked” into the cobblestones on India Street, putting me in a coma for 18 hours and then living in FEAR for the next 8 years, fear of the mean streets of a USA I have always held dear and close to my heart and was never in fear of before.  I say all of this for one reason and one reason only… I am so grateful to be alive, to be lucid, to be able to put into black and white what needs to be said in a country that has become blind to the TRUTH that is all around us–the smiles of the children, the grace of the Blue Heron and the majesty of a dune that nestles next to the gentle waters of the Atlantic Ocean…  There is something to be said for reviewing HISTORY and what those men and women who went before us stood for, what they fought for and what they died for.  Sometimes, something draws you to a place that you have no idea why it would or why, a Field of Dreams, if you will… The gratitude that I feel today, for people of this little Cape Cod, my family and friends I have met here, along with all of the wonder of the land and sea–cannot be put in words–for I died 8 years ago and came back, through the GRACE OF GOD, and I am, for that, the most Grateful man on the planet, bar none.  There is no doubt that this fantastic country can come back and be great again, there is no doubt that these great men and women we are honored enough to call our brothers and sisters will come out of the ashes of greed and prosper once again…for you can kill a man with a bullet or a bomb, but you can never, ever kill the SPIRIT of the human SOUL, ever entwined with infinite creative intelligence, emanating in the form of a smile on a harbor seal, a little girl, or a giant Humpback Whale, the symbol of Cape Cod, the islands and the grace that the Kennedy family will own forever.  May this day bring you JOY, LOVE and PEACE so that you may feel the same way I feel right NOW, knowing that tomorrow will be better than what we are witnessing today.  In the immortal words from a half way house half way across this great North American continent, “Charlie Street”, in Costa Mesa, California, “Happy people are grateful people, those who aren’t, aren’t.”  And, if no one told you they LOVE you today, “I just did.” Have a great Thanksgiving and may the good Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the great island of Nantucket!  Great to be with you on this beautiful day here in Osterville, a few days before Thanksgiving, and I pray that you and yours are safe and warm wherever this message in a bottle may be reaching you… The ‘lame duck’ session of congress is proving just that, LAME, for as we, those who are paying attention, watch in horror at what the newly formed REPUBLICORP party is planning to do in the upcoming 112th Congress of the United States of America, I would urge to you remember that this blog is intended to be a witness to what will most assuredly transpire in the coming months in this country that is being ripped apart at the seams.  We can ’start’ with the S.T.A.R.T. treaty between the U.S. and Russia, a nuclear arms verification treaty designed many moons ago when this country was in a Cold War with the now defunct Soviet Union, establishing some sense of security regarding the thousands of nuclear weapons that both of those nations have been pointing at each other for over 50 years now.  The republican party, in it’s infinite wisdom, has blocked Obama’s attempt to renew the treaty, paramount to our national security, and thus, puts the United States, along with the rest of the world, at risk that rogue nuclear material could get in the hands of terrorists or worse, nations like Iran, who could then use them to hold the world ransom.  This move is the definition of “UN” American and should be called out as such.  But, this is only one of the weapons that the newly formed insane GOP has in mind for “the American People” in the coming year.  The vote to not extend unemployment benefits while giving the already very rich, and getting richer by the minute, the top two percent, who have seen their income go up by 258 percent since 1979, while the average worker has seen his or her average income increase by less than one percent, a 700 billion dollar tax break by extending the BUSH tax cuts of 2001 and 2003 (all money that is borrowed directly from China to be payed back by our grandchildren), gives one pause to ask the question, “is there some kind of award for the greatest form of hypocrisy ever?”  Add that to the plans REPUBLICORP has for the “debt ceiling”, the debt that the GOP racked up over the past ten years, for they plan to block that as well, which will cause not only a government shutdown, but may cause global financial panic putting the world on the brink of yet another global financial crisis, much worse than the one we, (the true American People) have already BAILED OUT.  These monsters want to eliminate Social Security, Medicare, the EPA, the Department of Education, privatize the VA, and de-regulate every industry from Wall Street banks to big oil, big coal and the FDA.  We, as Americans, should be very worried right now about the intention of these puppets, killer puppets, for they are doing just that, killing the American spirit by their never ending greed and wish to widen the GRAND CANYON (A PLUTOCRACY) that already exists between the haves and the have nots.  It is a sad day for America and I can guarantee you that the great leaders of this country who have passed out of this world and into a much better one, are looking on in horror.  From the insider trading that exists on Wall Street, to the naked raping and pillaging of our natural resources via evil companies like Halliburton and Koch Industries is enough to make you break down and sob.  “They”, mice, or rather rats, like John Boehner and Mitch, “the mouse”, McConnell don’t give a damn about the average American citizen, as evidenced by their actions, and care even less about their GRANDCHILDREN that they speak of so often.  Let this particular blog today act as an eternal documentation that THEY don’t believe that global warming is real and that because of their ignorance and ruthless behavior, their grandchildren, like ours, will live in a world that will see the seas rise by 20-30 feet over the next 50 years, or less, they will see wide spread drought, severe storms that we have never witnessed on planet earth, wild fires by the score and land that cannot bear fruit, such as corn or wheat, for the air temperature will be too hot to grow anything (exemplified already in Russia, this past summer, with wheat prices going through the roof because the temperature over that giant Asian land mass was so hot, nothing could grow) causing world wide famine, disease and wars over resources like fresh, clean drinking water–you know, WATER, the stuff of LIFE itself!  Congratulations Mr. Speaker, you will go down as the worst Speaker this country has ever seen and what’s more, you and your cohorts will  be responsible for the decay and ultimate destruction of one of the greatest counties the world has ever seen.  What more would you like to add to your resume and ultimate legacy?  Perhaps all of this talk about how Obama is a Nazi is simply projection, projecting what you yourself are and what you plan to do with your “ultimate solution” for the “American People”.  You are sickening and disgusting and you should be shamed for who and what you are, a mouse who bends to the will of the “man behind the curtain,”, i.e. multi-national corporations, that hover over this country like giant space ships, taking what they can and leaving behind decay and destruction along with the monumental disasters to come…corporations that are answerable to NO ONE and thus, will eventually self destruct, because unless John Boehner and the rest of the republican puppets in Washington have discovered an unknown planet that can sustain life, your LIFE will no longer be safe either, nor will YOUR grand kids, and when they ask you–”Why Mr. Speaker, why do you want to destroy this great country of ours, or better yet, why DID you destroy it when you had the power to save it?”–you will be fresh out of bull$hit answers, for as you stare into the vacant reflection of yourself in the mirror, you will have realized that the only person YOU are fooling is yourself, as you take down and entire nation who you claim to speak for, ad nauseum, say it with me AMERICA, the “American People”… Have a nice day everybody!    PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the great island of Nantucket!  It is, as always, great to be with you on this gloomy Monday morning here in Osterville, with fog and cool temperatures ruling the day here in this little sea side village, just as it is in our nation’s political epicenter, as evidenced by the live feed from Washington D.C…although that fog has a double meaning in the country’s Capitol.  The major stories emerging from the week end news cycle included TSA pat downs, complete with a Saturday Night Live skit depicting a burlesque show of willing and eager TSA employees ready to perform their “security” tasks with complete abandon, a surprise report on North Korea and it’s nuclear ambitions, reported by a credible scientist, and the war in Afghanistan, where the U.S. has now committed to being in that 4th century country until 2014, where we are spending 2 billion dollars a day on making sure that “they” don’t attack us here, while we fight them “there”….sound familiar?  Meanwhile, back in the states, there was absolutely no talk to the plight of the “American People”, as we near Thanksgiving, a holiday that means so much more, this year, to REPUBLICORP and it’s members, than to the millions of Americans out of work because corporations, legitimate small businesses and billionaires will not invest in hiring any new workers because the economic models would not find it prudent to do so.  We are so interested in helping the world’s people when we don’t give a damn about our own, why is that? In fact, we are putting them deeper and deeper in the cave of despair and hopelessness with every dime we spend on a defense budget that is larger than all of the other advanced countries’ defense budgets combined.  ‘We’ so often speak of “spending cuts”, “tax cuts” and “making sure that President Obama is a one term President” that we, collectively, as a nation, have lost sight of what really matters–our neighbors, our families, our friends and our people as a whole, who are scared, abandoned and alone…unless you belong to John Boehner’s country club, and if you do not, you can bring your gift of sacrifice to the ’service entrance’ and leave it with the Maitre D, who will make sure it gets placed with the rest of the gifts dedicated to the alter of GREED, corruption and the lesser ‘angels’ of the human condition.  There is no doubt in my mind that the Oligarchy that has arisen from 30 years of de-regulation (S), starting with Donald Regan, former Reagan Treasury Secretary and former head of Merrill Lynch, and Reagan’s real boss, could not be better summed up in a metaphor than in the GRAND CANYON itself, where the haves and have nots are on display for the whole world to see.  There is a real hunger out there Mr. Speaker, although you would not know that for it does not compute with your countless nonsensical “talking points” provided to you by the “Roving” strategists out there who work for the plutocracy that meets secretly in places like Aspen, Colorado, with members of the Supreme Court in attendance, along with scoundrels such as the Koch brothers… Justices Thomas and Scalia on the guest list, and as you read your talking points to said, ad nauseum, “the American People”, an amazing justification, those same American People are getting sicker, hungrier, and more hopeless by the hour.  Eat, Drink and be Merry John, for as the old saying goes, “what comes around, goes around…”   Have a wonderful week folks!    PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the great island of Nantucket!  Great to be with you on this Sunday morning, the 21st day of November, 2010, as you get a glimpse of one of the amazing maples in their full Autumn glory on one of the narrow avenues of Hyannisport, Massachusetts, about 5 miles, as the Osprey flies, due east of Osterville, where I am from.  This particular image was taken a few days ago a few blocks from the house where President Kennedy, Jackie and the rest of the family lived–the Kennedy Compound. Understated and elegant, the houses afforded the young Kennedy boys the chance to explore the wonders of Cape Cod, the Islands and all of the magic that exists in this amazing place.  You should come visit sometime, it will knock your socks off!  I just took a break from the Sunday morning talk shows because I was getting a little sea sick…I don’t get sea sick on the water, only on land when I listen to “pundits” like baseball expert and all too often guest on ABC’s “This Week, with Christiane Amanpour”, George Will.  Nothing against George personally, it’s just his whole premise on politics and social justice in general that I have a problem with.  The gloves are off, as it were, and thus, we have the game set to where the republicans are going to try and force extending the BUSH tax cuts of 2001 and 2003, adding that 700 billion dollars to the national debt, money borrowed directly from China, where we pay 41 cents out of every dollar we borrow on interest alone, while they are going to try and deny extending unemployment benefits for millions of truly hurting Americans right in time for Saint Nick.  Hallelujah brother! and Merry Christmas to you Mr. Speaker and all of the puppets out there!  You have a nice one, ‘ya hear?   We will see in the end who wins the battle.  Have a wonderful Sunday folks and keep the FAITH!  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the great island of Nantucket!  Great to be with you on this Saturday morning, a cool one here in Osterville, as the little seaside village prepares for a Thanksgiving the likes of Norman Rockwell would be proud of.  I live in one of the wealthiest towns in North America, ironic, I know, and with a trip scheduled to my favorite island of the greater Cape Cod and the Islands “metropolitan” area, Nantucket, to visit some “old friends” and photograph some areas that I would just as soon forget, i.e. the Nantucket Police Department, oh yes, my friends at “60 Minutes” will be talking to you sooner than you think… I will have time to think about all of the people in this country who are really down and out, with little to no hope in their hearts, for as they listen to the insane rantings of REPUBLICORP’s propaganda machine, “FOX NEWS”, and are thus, brainwashed into thinking that “men” like John, “billy bob”, Boehner are “on their side”, you know, the spokesperson for said, ad nauseam, “the American People”, their chances of getting out of the darkness of a deep cave filled with LIES, innuendo, paranoia and fear/hate mongering, with a little racism thrown in for good measure, are slim to none–for there is no substitute for the complete and utter disgrace of the GOP’s hypocrisy, this close to the holiday season of giving, when they are demanding a tax break for the richest 2 percent of the American population, amounting to 700 billion dollars added to the deficit courtesy of our friends in China, when “they” are, at the same time, not willing to extend unemployment benefits for millions of American people who cannot find a job if it fell out of the sky.  In the past 25 years, the top 1 percent in this nation has gained 80 percent of the wealth, while the wages for those lucky enough to have a job saw their living wages go down, and witnessing an austerity exercise that punishes the poor in this nation and rewards the rich– to the tune, again, of 144 billion dollars, a record, of bonuses paid out to Wall Street executives…”Can you say shakedown?  Sure, I knew that you could,” is enough to make one very sick to the stomach. This is Orwellian, but much worse than that, for it is not fiction, it is very real and as the REPUBLICORP speaks to “cutting spending”, while they pass the Bush tax cuts of 2001 and 2003 for said top two percent, while millions of families who are poorer than church mice go hungry this Thanksgiving, we should all take a moment of silence to pray for the souls of these scoundrels, for that is what they are, SCOUNDRELS, who care nothing for the sanctity of Life, let alone the sanctity of the words written 235 years ago by much greater men then they– such as Thomas Jefferson, John Adams and Benjamin Franklin, and a few years later by Abraham Lincoln, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Jack Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr., who “got it” when it came to how we should treat one other, how we care for one another and how we act as, our late President Ronald Reagan plagiarized, “a shining city on a hill.” (Reagan added the word shining to an already famous quote)…  We are a laughing stock when someone with an adequate amount of intelligence thinks of “America” as a shining city on a hill.  A shining city on a hill that rewards only the few and takes a giant dump on the rest of the population, who are seen more as animals, cattle, to be herded this way and that, for the puppeteers gain, “the man behind the curtain,” such as the Koch Brothers, and cheer, literally give standing ovations for a former President who, if he stepped out of this country to peddle his “book” would be arrested for war crimes, such as water boarding, that he now boasts about like some crazy, cheap dime store cowboy who pretends to clear brush, when he lives in a 15 million dollar home in Dallas, Texas where he has “guadeloupe” mow the grass, pick up the dog poop and trim the bushes, no pun intended.  If there is a GOD in heaven, and this country is blessed by GOD, as every American President has claimed, I sure hope he makes his PRESENCE KNOWN soon…for this country of ours is headed for that GRAND CANYON of haves and have nots–a true PLUTOCRACY-- all in the name of the Almighty dollar, and every Sunday, you can see them worshiping at the alter of that utterly FALSE GOD, “PROFIT OVER PEOPLE.”  Have a wonderful day everybody!  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the great island of Nantucket!  Great to be with you on this Friday morning, the 19th day of November, 2010, and although I’m feeling a little under the weather, I thought I would just add a quick thought to the developments from yesterday’s news cycle–namely Congress’ failure to extend unemployment benefits to millions of hurting Americans who can’t BUY a job, while, at the same time, REPUBLICORP and their propaganda machine FOX NEWS, have successfully fooled the “American People” into drinking their Kool Aid in the form of extending the Bush tax cuts of 2001 & 2003 for the wealthiest among us (adding 700 billion dollars to the national debt, money borrowed from China), not because they would create any jobs, for statistical data has already debunked that myth, but because the goal of a plutocracy is to continue to expand what is now a GRAND CANYON between the haves and the have nots.  Any other explanation is just a load of horse$hit.  It is purrfect for the holidays don’t you think?  You’re a mean one, Mr. Boehner, along with your rodent friend, Mitch, the mouse, McConnell, who will be dining at the Four Seasons in D.C. right up until the Thanksgiving break, where they will then fill their overweight bodies with all the trimmings, while they laugh at the Liberal media who actually gives a damn about the growing number of poor AMERICAN PEOPLE in this great land of OURS…  I wouldn’t touch you, Mr. Boehner, with a 39 and a half foot pole!  Have a great week end anyway everyone and GOD BLESS US ALL!   PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the great island of Nantucket!  Great to be with you on this Thursday morning, a spectacular morning here in Osterville, with the sun once again rising in the east and the sky still a remarkable blue, despite what REPUBLICORP might have you believe…you know, that up is down, black is white and in order for President Obama to meet with the cowards on the right, he must regain their trust, the same trust that HE offered the republicans when he sat down with the House GOP in January of this year.  Yes, that ‘meeting’ was postponed, originally scheduled for today, a meeting that might embarrass the newly formed corporate republican majority in the House of Representatives, for they would most likely have been schooled by a much brighter, much stronger and much more intelligent MAN than these newly elected puppets that will be herded, by the corporate plutocracy, into taking this country down a path of destruction and decay.  There is no doubt that this election has consequences, and those consequences will most likely be felt by the dis-enchanted electorate out there who is wondering, at this very moment, “what they hell happened to our great Democracy…?”  The answer to that riddle is in the details, a place where the devil lives and breathes, and it should be noted, for the record, that this administration has done more for said, ad nauseum, “The American People”, than any President since the days of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who too, was much maligned and demonized by his republican counterparts, many of whom were already in bed with the emerging power of corporate interests, springing from the gaining momentum of the industrial revolution.  So here we are, November 18th, 2010, a little before Thanksgiving, where we will all, those lucky enough to be able to afford a Turkey dinner, feast on the fruits of our forefather’s labors and sacrifices, and give thanks to what we as families, friends, colleagues and even ‘enemies’ have and hold dear…  The question on every one’s mind however, is this, “whose side is this newly formed REPUBLICORP on anyway?”  It is certainly NOT on the side of the true AMERICAN PEOPLE that “men”, or rather mice like Mitch McConnell and John Boehner, like to quote they are “working” for and “looking out for” on a daily basis.  The spin cycle in Washington D.C. would put the Maytag repair man in a hospital, for his constant work at fixing these machines, many of which are used to “launder money”, via the US CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, and would cause just about anyone on planet earth to keel over with exhaustion.  Check out what the new republican majority really has in mind (follow the money) substantively, for said, “American People” and square it with the TRUTH and you may begin to see the LIGHT.  Have a wonderful day everyone!  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the great island of Nantucket!  On a very windy and rainy, did I mention foggy, day here on Cape Cod, Osterville’s seaside haven, I bid you and yours a fine and fair adieu.  General Peter Chiarelli is working to change the attitudes towards PTSD and suicide in the army, a problem that has become an epidemic.  Said the general, “I was asked to reduce the amount of suicides now in the army…”  what resistance have you had? “There has been some internal resistance, I would think,” said the interviewer…  “It’s a very difficult thing, because you are fighting  a culture that really doesn’t believe in these things, it doesn’t believe that injuries you can’t see, can be as serious as those injuries you can see.  The idea that somehow you are a weaker person because you see something, that NO human being should ever have to see, that, that causes an injury to your body, is hard for some people to accept.  And we are never going to totally convince everyone that these are hidden injuries, as serious as losing an arm or a leg, and are things, quite frankly, that science behind them and how we treat them is just not as mature as it is for some of the other wounds of war.”  If you ever saw a soldier with PTSD, would you take him off the line? “Exactly, we cannot ignore this, if we saw a soldier with a gash in his leg and it was bleeding, would we take him off the field and care for his needs?  God damn rights we would.  And if we see a soldier from today, who is suffering from PTSD, or traumatic brain injury, or any other kind of behavioral health issue, we’ve gotta take ‘em off the battlefield and try and get him the help that he needs.  Only bad things happen when you wait to treat an injury.” IN WORLD WAR I “it” was called “shell shock”, are you listening Nantucket Police Department! Writing about PTSD is the key to getting better, or at least feeling better for the moment.  That is what happened to me, after that fateful day, August 2, 2003 when Sgt. Chretian, of the NPD, literally and purposefully “slam dunked” (words used by two witnesses only 20 feet away) my head face first into the cobblestones of the quaint little town of Nantucket, a place I have, do and always will hold dear to my heart.  I have had to face the demons, the nightmares and the feeling that, “something is never quite right enough for me to just relax and take off the hyper-alertness tape that seems to tell me that I could get hurt again…”  It has been about finding a way to forgive them, embrace the horror of that day and bring it into the LIGHT, the light of well being that is evident all around me if I can just put down my guard long enough for me to enjoy it–allowing that connection to all that was, all that IS and all that will be.  Especially the first, the PAST, for it no longer exists, except as a “thought” in your head, or an energy that one feels one must “fight” in order to survive.  That is what PTSD feels like–a real nightmare, ongoing during the entirety of a day.  That thought, leads to another “thought” and so on, for that is how the brain works, which, if you have PTSD, is a big problem–for it sucks the JOY out of life, along with the LOVE in your heart, not to mention your confidence–your feeling of connectedness to a greater purpose, a greater good, far beyond the reach of any man’s egoic philosophy of what man is to begin with.  Watching the new documentary on HBO, “War Torn-1861-2010″, a must see if I ever did say so, is an historical look back at all of the trauma that has transpired and how it has been dealt with over the past 150 years, war trauma.  It is the story of the effects of war on human beings and how we have collectively dealt with the psychological drama that emanates from such horrid violence.  The documentary reveals the “detachment” many soldiers feels towards their fellow human beings when they return home from the front lines, enduring cliche diagnoses under auspicious titles such as “battle fatigue” to a slap on the face from General Patton in WW II, whose mean spirited vibrato utilized derogatory terms such as “yellow” when describing a soldier who was afraid to get out of his bed, let alone fight some obtuse “enemy”…that, of course, is when old Patton famously slapped the private silly.  A soldier who just did not want to see any more death, for it was abhorrent to his nature, and indeed, if you still have a heart, all of ours.  The subject of PTSD will become a household item of discussion in the coming years and WE, collectively as a species, will come to understand that this eternal war we seemed to be engaged in, is folly and counter-productive to the VALUES we all hold dear–profoundly put by Thomas Jefferson, one of our founding fathers and former President, written over 225 years ago–”LIFE, LIBERTY and the pursuit of happiness.”  Not just for the top 2 percent, but for all the people, “WE THE PEOPLE”… Speaking to a few Iraqi Vets, still on duty, HBO spoke with two, one with five tours under his belt… What does PTSD feel like? Sgt. John Wesley Mathew, of the Louisiana National Guard said, “I came back at 26 years old. I was engaged at the time, not any more, see no wedding band?, ah, my life had been flipped upside down, the state was in shambles, Rita (Hurricane Rita) hit three weeks after we got home, then things started happening to me personally, sleep cycle nothing, I think it took 4 months before I could fall asleep before 4 in the morning, and that was with the help of medication. I take Ambien (highly addictive) and I have depression, you’re just feeling burnt out, it’s not that anything was terribly hard, we had days, but it was the constant day after day, days after days after days of living on such high alert level physically, will burn your candle out.”  Said first Sgt. 1st class Jonathan Deshotels, “I remember we were running through the neighborhoods, I mean there was gun fire going on all over, you don’t even know where the gunfire is coming from, you don’t even know if they are shooting at you, to tell you the truth, and I remember thinking, this is some black hawk down stuff, we’re supposed to be at an LSU football game right now, and I, ah, and that was a long day.  You’d have days like that and would compile into other days that would compile into other days.”  “It’s hard to be taught to do what we do, combat arms, and then just expect you to turn it off. And that’s the hard thing about going home, you get there and they just expect you to go back into society.”  Who’s they? “Family, friends, whoever else, in early April of 2006, I actually hit rock bottom, I actually contemplated suicide for a while, it really got to the point where I didn’t really know what “it” was, mentally.  I didn’t know where I was, I was lost, I really felt like I was making my way with my hands in the dark.”  “It’s just like you can’t get straight,”  “yeah” ,  “It’s just like you can’t get yourself right.”  “And no matter what you do, whether you are talking to other people, or talking to each other, nothing helps,”  “No, it’s just that you can’t figure yourself out.”  “It will tear you apart, It will tear your life apart, and many a soldier has met an end, either by his own hand, or by the bottle, or somethin’, cause they didn’t know what else to do…”  Hey, Boehner and McConnell, you want to balance the budget?  Start with our ridiculous military brass in the Pentagon and their never ending spending on the US military industrial complex, and, oh yeah, p.s., give our soldiers the help and care they deserve!!!  Have a nice day folks… PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the great island of Nantucket!  Good to be with you on this rather cloudy, misty day here on Cape proper, Osterville to be precise, and I wanted to make a shout out to New York City and one of my Sigma Phi brothers from my college days at the University of Vermont!  Hope all is well in the big apple my friend!  Another New Yorker, an author, who I consider a friend, is Thomas Friedman, a reporter for the New York Times and author of the book, “Hot, Flat and Crowded,” a must read if you are interested in the now global aspects of our daily lives here on this little blue rock I call earth.  Thomas made an appearance on “Morning Joe”, only on MSNBC, a benign talk show that delves a little deeper than, say, the idiots on FOX & FRIENDS, diving tirelessly into the issues of the day, albeit “anchored” by a former congressman who often looks like he would rather be vacationing on Nantucket that be in the studio at 30 Rockefeller Center–and who could blame him, he seems like a nice guy?  But, to his and Mika’s credit, they have very good guests who, if they could get a word in edge wise, might make some valid points to be discussed at the local Starbucks or pub, depending upon the time of day.  He, Thomas, made that appearance yesterday, via satellite, as he attempted, quite well, to articulate the meaning behind the title to his book…an important bird’s eye view of the world and what the major hurtles are for the human species in the next 50 years.  Hot–Mr. Friedman described, not in too much detail, for many on the panel that day were on the side of crazies like Mr. James, “she’ll be comin’ round the mountain when she comes,” Inhofe (R-OK) who is, of course, famous for starting the now insane chant of, “Global Warming is the greatest hoax ever played on the American people,” you know, based on all of that ’science’ stuff (blinded by science, if you will).  The FACT IS that global warming is indeed VERY real and is affecting weather patterns all over the world, and with the rising temperatures (come rising sea levels) especially at the poles, the polar ice cap is well on it’s way to NOT EXISTING in less than ten years– this coupled along with huge chunks of ice, the size of Texas, breaking off from ancient glaciers in Antarctica, proving this global warming phenomenon beyond a shadow of a doubt…with almost every glacier around the world following suit.  This does not even touch on the fact that Greenland, a much more dangerous scenario that I won’t bore you with right now, has lost 40 percent of it’s permanent ice fields, and with all of that water, ancient, now unfrozen water streaming into the oceans at an alarming rate, coupled with the fact that everyone has their head in the proverbial sand on this one–Thomas said this, “I won’t debate the issue of global warming with you, that’s between you and your beach house…” (and, I might add, “We have a problem Houston!”)  Well said, sir, well said.  With 99 percent of credible scientists concurring that carbon emissions, and soon to be methane emissions emanating from the un-freezing of the permanent frozen tundra covering much of the extreme northern hemisphere, are to blame for this profound change in the earth’s atmospheric environment, hence affecting our surface environment, that will cause stronger and stranger storms, create great droughts and epic wild fires, and flooding that has not been seen in modern recorded history, how can so many “leaders” be that STUPID?  Keep F#$cking that chicken Mr. Inhofe!  Oh, yeah, I forgot, you are telling all of this for our GRANDCHILDREN, so that when you are gone from the face of the earth, they can sit back and say, “was grandpa mentally challenged or just an AS$hole?”  Ask the poor people in Pakistan who have literally been shipwrecked for months now, as the unusually strong monsoon season, coupled with massive typhoons literally put a country the size of California under water, with no help from the outside world…this all while REPUBLICORP continues to burn as much coal, oil and “natural gas” (for maximum PROFIT) as it can, not so much for said, ad nauseum, the “American People”, but more so to create the global conglomerates that will raise the bottom line of these modern day pirates of industry.  That leads me into the word Thomas uses as FLAT… We live, now, in a global environment where we see the JOY, and sometimes the pain, of others in different countries such as our own iconic AMERICA that everybody seems to love and want to emulate.  Look at the marketing across the globe–McDonald’s, Nike shoes, BMW’s, big suburban homes, with an extra garage for that special other Porsche you might have had your eye on, you name it– whatever Americans bought and treasured during the boom years of 1980-2009 there seemed to be no end in sight… Our competitors, such as China, India, Brazil, Germany and much of northern Europe, among others, have stepped it up a notch and created that same dream for themselves, run on cheap gas, and thus, we, as a world, have consumed to the limit–while the corporations, who too, live in a flat world, act as hovercrafts, if I could paraphrase Mr. Friedman, hovering here in the United States when it is economically convenient, paying little in the way of taxes, case in point, Exxon Mobile payed 0 taxes in 2009, and with the complicated tax code that favors the rich (because of laws passed by puppets in congress who were paid off by lobbyists, lobbying for those new tax codes that serve the interests of the “man behind the curtain”), (see the book FREE LUNCH, by David Cay Johnston), and then, if things go bad, they will move their places of business to markets that have cheaper labor costs, less stringent environmental laws and the like…leaving the American People high and dry without jobs, and a group politicians many elected into office, sorry little puppets, who act only on behalf of said corporations who shipped their jobs overseas to begin with…all in the name of the sacred modus operandi “PROFIT OVER PEOPLE”– this is all very insane indeed, for God’s sake does someone out there not see the disconnect?  This all while we all can see what is really going on in the intranet world, good blogs and websites that promote the TRUTH, FACTS and shame the puppets and the PLUTOCRACY that they work for, bringing us closer to a revelation and a resolution to a very REAL global problem(S), before it is truly too late.  And finally to the word CROWDED... As of today, there are roughly 6.1 billion people living on planet earth, and by the year 2050 it will have ballooned to 9.1 billion, how can WE feed everyone and still maintain our level of GREED?   We can argue semantics, policy, politics, puppets, philosophy, and religion all day long.  But, FACTS, like the stars above, are cold, hard and unyielding.  Sometimes they are on your side, if you live in an honest being, and sometimes they are not, when you are a mouse like Mitch McConnell (wink, wink, nudge, nudge).  So all of those self professed “tea partiers” out there and naive members of a society called the United States of America, we can all see that it is understandable that you are fed up with the way business has been done, been done I might add, for the past 30 years at least.  Corporate lobbyists of all stripes, sizes, shapes and smells own the process in Washington D.C. these days and it does not look like it will change anytime soon.  Aren’t you glad you voted for a Senator that is going to keep GIANT tax breaks for the wealthy in place so that your grandchildren can work at BK flippin’ burgers and serving fries to our new Chinese overlords?  You may want to think long and hard about who you are backing, for if empirical evidence serves me, and it always does, REPUBLICORP is hell bent on putting the cart (multi-national corporations) in front of the horse (the needs and the spirit of the American People), who have been duped, hoodwinked and hijacked for, like I said before, over 30 years now.  In the immortal words of Carl Spackler, “assistant greens keeper”, at the Bushwood Country club (played by Bill Murray in the cult classic film par excel lance, circa 1979 “Caddyshack”) who said, as he was attempting to rid the golf course problem (the rats of wall street and the lobbyists of D.C.) of gophers, and after the rodent bit him hard as he was giving him the bird, Carl screamed out in pain… and action! “When I have been pushed…I guess we’re playin’ for keeps now, I think it’s time to pump in about 15,000 gallons of water down there to teach you a little bit of a lesson, is that it?  I think it is!” and cut, print, wrap… Carl Spakler may just get his wish for as we continue to reward polluters who are destroying our planet, our environment, our home planet, temporarily, and just to add some salt to the wound, are making the poor poorer by getting into the politics game where they have rigged the Congress, seemingly rigged the Judiciary and are closing in on  the Executive–all to create a big brother scenario that would make George Orwell shake in his boots, we again must say, “Houston we have a problem.”  Have a nice day everybody!  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! black outside, the stars are out, again, in full force, bringing solace and the acknowledgement of just how small WE human being really are in the grand scheme of things… yet very important, all of us, for we each bring a sliver of light that comes from within, making us ALL valuable–from the poor children in Haiti or Pakistan who have been hit by earthquakes, hurricanes and torrential flooding that has left millions of people homeless and desperate to gain a small portion of clean drinking water just to stay alive…  Speaking clean drinking water, “60 Minutes”, with correspondent Leslie Stahl, put together an illuminating piece last night on what I have been talking about for the past six months–hydraulic fracturing of shale rock in over 30 states, some say 37, where mega-corporations such as our pals at Halliburton “frack” the shale deep under the ground, pumping high pressure water laced with 596 chemicals (undisclosed via the “Halliburton loophole”, designed by then Vice President “Dick” Cheney in 2005 (where they surgically removed the EPA’s teeth), who not only made it so that the gas companies like Koch Industries and the “brothers grim”, I mean the brothers David and Charles, did not have disclose the chemicals they were using, but, moreover, did not allow the EPA, under the “clean drinking water act” to investigate the now thousands of cases of men and women, children and the elderly, along with animals and plant life, who are getting deathly sick, feeling the effects of the “fracking fluid” effectively killing our population because of horrible safety procedures and business ethics) yes, that’s right, 596 chemicals to release the “natural gas” that is embedded within the hard shale rock under mostly poor homesteads across the country.  Because of the “Halliburton Loophole” and the fact that these companies will not disclose the toxic mix of hell unleashed upon our environment, the EPA cannot even begin to investigate the problem because they don’t know scientifically what, where and how the problem in manifesting itself.  Halliburton has recently been subpoenaed by the federal government to release such information, but with the new congress being sworn in, mostly republican and on the side of “men” like Joe, “I’m so sorry Tony, ‘gone sailin’, of bp for the Obama 20 billion dollar ’shakedown’ of your horrible environmental disaster in the Gulf” Barton (R-TX) who will most likely be taking the helm of the energy committee, a powerful committee within the House of Representatives, and therefore giving him even more lee way in deregulating the ever more dangerous industries such as deep water drilling in places like the Gulf or Alaska, not to mention the growing number of these ill conceived wells springing up all over the country, with all of that information known, it is clear that this very real problem will only get worse with “time”.  It won’t be long until our water supply is ‘fracked’, I mean f#$cked, and as we all know you can live without “natural gas” but you cannot live without water, or the environment that sustains LIFE itself…  The gloves are off and as we ease on into this week of the Lameless Duck session, for it can be if they so choose it to be, we should understand that the chips that were dealt President Obama were ones akin to the chips afforded great gladiators of the past, for he seems as if he is going into a Lion’s den (no offense to real Lions anywhere in the world) full of men whose main goal is, and I quote our dear friend, Mitch, “the mouse”, McConnell (R-KY) who said this of the real republican number one goal in the coming two years, his goal as a “leader” and thus, a definition of what they plan to do with their newly elected fame, “our number one goal is to make sure that Obama is a one term President…”  Oh, and also deregulate the banks by repealing the new Wall Street reform, repealing the new health care LAW, playing around with social security, medicare and the VA, lowering the minimum wage, giving banks more leverage to continue fraudulent foreclosures, extending the Bush tax cuts of 2001 and 2003 for the top two percent, ballooning the deficit by another 700 billion dollars, borrowed money from China, India and Bahrain, taking away any remaining environmental safety LAWS designed to help our grandchildren enjoy a clean and pure countryside, and finally using the Citizens United case to continue funneling in secret foreign monies, laundered by the US Chamber of Commerce, to the tune of billions of dollars, for the purpose of continuing along the path to PLUTOCRACY, devoid of “the American People”, plutocracy defined as rule by the wealthy, comprised of billionaires, individuals and multi-national corporations, that, like a shark (no offense to sharks…) need to continue to feed and move–mindless killing machines whose modus operandi will always be–PROFIT OVER PEOPLE!   Have a good week and keep Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the great island of Nantucket!  On a beautiful morning here on Cape Cod proper, Osterville to be specific, I bid you and yours and fair and fine adieu.  The Sunday morning talk shows will have plenty to talk about in only a few moments, as the nation looks to it’s leaders for answers to the problems facing our economy, with the lives of countless Americans at stake.  Perhaps the most talked about will be the austerity measures that have been introduced by the President’s “bi-partisan” committee, made up of Alan Simpson and some other guy who have laid down the white flag of surrender to the republicans who have already rejected much of what the President is offering in the way of an olive branch which he should have used as a weapon to wake these clowns up to the reality of their LIES and innuendo that the BUSH tax cuts of 2001 and 2003, which did NOTHING to create jobs in this country, should not only be extended, but made permanent, rewarding the top 2 percent in the United States, while doing nothing to address the real issues facing the “American People”.  This new congress will be made up of, as predicted, a group of men and women who will be puppets for the first time, bowing to the will of the multi-national corporate interests, the same interests who got us into this mess to begin with…good timing George, and congratulations on your new book, “Conan, the Decider”, for it will most certainly change the views of noted historians and scholars across the globe.  Instead of reading your book, I decided to watch the Oliver Stone film, “W”, for the fourth time, and really try and get into your head, and ask the very simple question, “do you have any remorse for any of the actions you took as President of the United States of America?”  The reason I ask that is based on what appeared to be a turning point in your life, when you “turned your life over to the care of God”, Jesus to be concise, and what a preacher from Texas may or may not have said to you…I am paraphrasing here, but I am quite sure this is pretty darn close to the TRUTH.  and ACTION: Preacher–”The worst thing you could ever say in your life is, if only I could live it all over again.  Born again, that is what you are George, God has spoken to you.  We all have sinned, Lord knows, but it’s what we have learned that matters in the end.  You hear me George, so God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son…that who ever believeth him shall not perish, but have ever lasting LIFE.  (John 3:16)… Now take the baton and reach out, and beginning today I want you to treat everybody you meet, your friends, your enemies, everybody like they were going to be dead at midnight.  Yes sir, you treat that person with the LOVE that’s in you son, and do it without reward and your life will change forever, I promise you that you will never, ever be the same.”  and, cut, print, wrap. Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the great island of Nantucket!  Great to be with you on this Saturday morning here in Osterville, as I woke very early this morning and witnessed yet another spectacular LIGHT show in the way of the stars being out in full force on my deck at 5 a.m., as the huge nor’easter that had brought wind, rain and fog for three straight days drifted slowly out to sea and left, in it’s wake, a day of brilliance that is normally reserved for royalty…a good day to live on Cape Cod.  Well, the hypocrisy that is normally left for a slow Friday news day, if one even exists, was out again, in full force, with the news that our buddy Mitch, “the mouse”, McConnell (R-KY) and still Senate minority “leader” apparently, according the the new book “authored” by George W. Bush called, “I’m the decider see?”, asked our former President if he could reduce the level of troops in Iraq prior to the 2006 elections as the war “effort” was hurting the republicans in the polls… In public, however, in that same year and same month, September, “the mouse” told reporters that the democrat (s) party was “out of line” by risking the lives of our service men and women by asking for reductions in troop levels, implying that they were “un-American” and, by doing so, cemented his hypocritical oath as a doctor of the highest order of putting one’s foot in one’s mouth…kind of like the whole thing about how much he cares about said, ad nauseum, “The American People”–whom he would just as well throw under the bus just as George “W” did to him in his new memoir, “Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, well, you just can’t get fooled again…”  Ah, the republican party, how transparent, how droll, how ridiculous.  You can’t be for fiscal responsibility by giving tax breaks to those who make over 250,000 dollars a year, to the tune of 700 billion dollars added to our 13.8 trillion dollar deficit, when the rest of the country is starving to death.  You can’t ask for the people to “take the pain” when you and your club house buddies are doing quite the opposite–not only avoiding the pain, but bringing it and profiting from YOUR pain.  That is the rub.  The republican machine has done a wonderful job of completely, with the help of FOX news and some very sharp strategists, hoodwinking the true American people (and thus, hijacking the country) into believing that this whole mess is the fault of some “left wing conspiracy”, (conspiracies like the now out-of-business ACORN, designed to help poor people, or giving the EPA some teeth so as to clean up our environment) made up of an “illegal” administration who is making a huge effort to actually redirect government and businesses from the deep corruption (lobbyists) that exists in Washington D.C. and Wall Street, one and the same, while they steal YOUR wallet and help YOU look for it at the same time…hypocrisy indeed.  Nothing to see here folks, just go about your day with your slave job that pays minimum wage, for soon that wage will be reduced to 5 dollars a day that may pay for a hut like the kind you see in Haiti, the Congo or Sudan.  We, the American People, do have a voice, collectively, and if we only EDUCATE our brothers and sisters in this great nation, perhaps the real problem, i.e. the system of lobbyists in Washington, would end forever and we might get something done for a change–a real change you CAN believe in.   Have a great week end everybody!  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! stars out once again, I bid you and yours a fair and fine adieu.  What can I tell you folks, it’s the holiday season and what would be more enjoyable than an interview with Rachel Maddow and John Stewart, of the “Rachel Maddow Show”, and the “Daily Show”, respectively, that I just finished watching a few moments ago…where the 64,000 dollar question of Bill Maher’s point, as well as Keith Olberman’s, that equating the insanity of FOX NEWS and relative sanity of MSNBC are NOT one and the same, was lost on Stewart.  It seems to me that, although I love John, he missed a big opportunity to help the helpless, the ones without a voice, the ones who have been burned by the greed of the corporate puppet masters who are hell bent on destroying a DEMOCRACY that has been a beacon to the world for over 235 years now…  When you have record unemployment in this great nation, playing in a rigged game, favoring those with the gold, hence those who make the rules, we have a problem Houston.  Those jobs have been shipped overseas forever, not coming back, and with a system that is geared to reward only those who were born under the right flag of a random “purity” test, a “Christian” coalition, comprised not so much of religious ideologues, but more along the lines of a crooked capitalistic free market monopoly, we have a problem Houston.  If the mark of a great journalist these days is to “get the story”, even if it is a false one, and, then, to make him or her an even better journalist, get them to raise the stakes by promoting “it” as the truth, for the sake of the corporate ratings, hence advertisement dollars, then we have an even bigger problem Houston.  And, if we have a corporate bullhorn, as loud as GOD himself, with 500,000 watts screaming 24/7 bent on brainwashing, WE have the BIGGEST problem Houston!  Listening to Stewart, it was as if he did not understand the real point of that montage “Comedy Central” put together of the FOX NEWS lies mixed in with the impassioned and justifiable anger that was represented by Ed Shultz, of the “ED SHOW”, only on MSNBC, during a portion of the “Rally to restore Sanity” that was held in Washington D.C. on October 30, 2010– a man who goes to bat for the common man in this country every day–all of this begs the question, “where is the disconnect here?”  This is a real war for this country’s identity, for it is on the verge of losing it’s soul, health and pocket book.  This country is based on a DEMOCRACY, which to those on Wall Street see as a nine letter word like liberal with two extra L’s.  As we all sit back idly and watch the wolves (no offense to real wolves anywhere in the world) take our country from right under our feet, and say, “that’s OK, please, take what you need and, by the way, why don’t you stomp on my head while you are at it,” watching the bullies literally steal our milk money… many of us will look back at these days and ask a very simple question, “why didn’t someone say and DO something?”  WHY did we let them take our country, why did we not fight for our FREEDOM, as basic to logic as the sun rises in the east–that we KNEW somehow within our basic horse sense souls–why did we not fight for THAT, that which really matters in the end, you know, for our grandchildren–little things like the climate crisis, the corporate takeover of our thinking, our food, our water, our future, our money, our jobs, our health care, our environment and our basic dignity as citizens of a country that was based on “WE THE PEOPLE”, not ‘Live better, Walmart’…  The President of the United States has now seemed to have caved in to the very powerful rising PLUTOCRACY while in South Korea, ironically, and although I KNOW how steep the climb is, it matters not, while we listen to yet another spin such as, well, we’ll get ‘em next year… With Citizens United going along just the way they had planned, that tax break for the top 2 percent in this nation will never, ever come up again, as the middle class is relegated to the back of the bus, and as our seniors and out of work real Americans with college educations, PhD’s, begin to serve fries to our corporate overlords from Bahrain, China and “pick any friendly national corporate tax shelter in the world”, we will all see the FOLLY in not standing up to what is really going on, under the headlines…with some rare exceptions from good people like Rachel out there.  So, although John Stewart is funny, he is not Maddow, nor is he Olbermann, or Shultz or O’Donnell– for these great men and women have risen above and beyond the call of duty in their due diligence of attaining FACTS and reporting them as such, not so much as opinion, but as a WAKE UP call for our nation to see that we have been had, hoodwinked and hijacked by some slick and cunning predators who will stop at nothing to reach their goals of the new “American” gospel, “PROFIT OVER PEOPLE”… Have a good day Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the great island of Nantucket!  Great to be with you on this Veteran’s Day here in the United States, where we honor our men and women in uniform who have stood bravely fighting for wars that were not created by them, but complained not.  Men and women who have boarded planes for far away places where bullets and bombs await them, men and women who brave those elements of war that no one who lives in peace wishes to discuss, men and women who fight the fight they are told to fight, without thought to their own personal safety, while being away from the ones they LOVE so much, being the greatest sacrifice of all, all under the banner of the red, white and blue of our glorious flag that has stood the test of time for over 235 years now…to those men and women, I take my hat off, for WE, back here in the states will never know your sacrifice and moreover, your commitment to your brothers and sisters in arms who are with you so many, many miles from home–GOD BLESS YOU ALL!  Col. Larry Wilkerson was a guest on “the new hot loverboy’s”, (a quote by our friend Glenn, “puppet master, my puppet master,” Beck recently on his poopy pants show-”The Glenn Beck Show” on FOX) MSNBC show, “The Last Word, with Lawrence O’Donnell”– Lawrence O’Donnell, from my adopted home town of Boston, Massachusetts, asked some very profound questions of the former State Department Chief of Staff under Colin Powell and present during the first years of the Cheney/Bush administration, Colonel Wilkerson, what he thought of the lack of a straight answer when Bush was asked by NBC’s Matt Lauer if he would have still gone to war with Iraq if they KNEW there were no weapons of mass destruction (WMD’S)… His conclusion was that whether or not they KNEW, which he hinted they did, that Iraq had no weapons to speak of, or whether they did not, highly unlikely, mattered little…what mattered was a quote from an author that read, “The sacrifice of brave men does not justify the pursuit of an UNJUST cause.”  This is, of course, what we all wanted to know, for in the end, redemption is only reserved for those who are HONEST enough with themselves that they transform from their former selves and into the “self” that they were long before being poisoned by the influence of others…whose “goals” had nothing to do with, “bringing peace and DEMOCRACY to the middle east”–because it was all for the little three letter word we all seem to avoid like the plague–OIL.  The name of the game has been oil since the beginning of the industrial revolution, and as technology has outpaced our human souls, we have only our blindness to blame.  As the President visits South Korea and the G-20 Summit, restricted by so many factors out his control, including the moron whose name will not be uttered here, well, OK, Alan Simpson, of, where else, Wyoming, (no offense to my little brother who lives in Jackson Hole, Wyoming) who blindsided the President with his version of “draconian austerity”, hurting the poor and rewarding the corporations who pay his bills, all in the name of “balancing the budget” for the next wave of insane republicans working for the “man behind the curtain”, who will then take it a step further and bring an end to the middle class in this country– yes, as the President is away on official business that is actually helping the republican cause, “men” like Darrell Issa (R-CA), the alter ego of Jon Hamm of “Mad Men”, who looks more like the character than Hamm does, is busy putting together hearing after hearing, witch hunt after witch hunt, to the tune of 7 a week for 40 weeks, much like GOD and Noah, 280 in all, for the complete and utter destruction of a very good man who is trying to do a very good thing, I think we all can agree, in keeping our DEMOCRACY alive and away from the blood sucking vampires of the corporate milieu that this country is headed towards…brainwashing people into believing just about anything they hear, see, taste, feel and smell on the new Nazi channel FOX “NEWS”–where countless Americans get their “news” everyday, and because many are unemployed by the very same men who own the network and support shipping their jobs overseas for the glory of REPUBLICORP’s modus operandi, “PROFIT OVER PEOPLE”, they will have plenty of time to really melt their brain, watching Glenn Beck and his magic puppet show, ironic no?, and fall into the trap of delusion that these “men”, who now own Washington, D.C., promulgate 24/7 on that horrible noise producing station of LIES, LIES and more LIES, bringing them further and further from the LIGHT of TRUTH–embodied in the continual statement that they CARE about said, ad nauseum, “The American People”…the President seems to be very alone indeed in this nation, a nation that has been hoodwinked and hijacked by the corporate milieu. Do NOT be fooled by men who sell oil procured from the dead body of a lifeless snake.  Take heart, for the TRUTH to what these people are really doing is as simple as understanding the bigger meaning behind the novel, “Catcher in the Rye,” or even better, the premise of the classic 1950’s film, starring James Dean, “Rebel, Without a Cause,” where the hero is desperately trying to tell his parents (the American People) to get it together and SEE that LOVE is the only answer–all else is just background noise…. LOVE is something we all want, and if you ever read any of the great philosopher Maslow, you would know that ALL human beings are the same–we all want and need, under his “Maslow’s hierarchy of needs,” first and foremost water, air and food to live, second, we need shelter and a place to call home, third we need LOVE and belonging, fourth, we need a camaraderie and friendship, and finally, the fifth and paradoxically, the most important, is SELF ACTUALIZATION–for if done right, can actually supersede the first, the very air we breathe… SELF ACTUALIZATION– that comes only on a blue moon, for it brings forth alchemy and a rebirth that propels one into a different plane–is bringing about a larger purpose, one beyond the needs of just one individual, that can and has changed the very fabric of this little blue rock we all call home for the moment–earth.  This is why education is so important to this country, as we continue to put the cart in front of the horse, for without it, very few of US can reach this level of self-less-ness, looking to spend our lives on the very things that made Jesus himself say, “what greater LOVE can there be than to lay down one’s life for one’s brother…”  May you and yours have a wonderful Veterans Day and may GOD’S GRACE always be upon your shoulder.     PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Bush, “Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, well, you just can’t get fooled again…”  That should, in all fairness to you Mr. President, should have been your opening line as you ask Jesus, who you claim to have a personal relationship with, for forgiveness for creating so many horrible things that went WRONG with this country under your “leadership”, the most costly being the IRAQ LIE…where over 4400 American soldiers lost their lives along with 80,000 Iraqi civilians, with the one’s that are still alive, living in third world conditions, as so many live without electricity or clean drinking water–”how’s that bringin’ freedom and democracy to the middle east workin’ out for ya!?”  As the nation has now watched our former President appear on 7 different “talk shows”, Oprah being the most credible, thus far, in an exhausting defence his “leadership” decisions during his eight years of horror, I felt as if I were watching a re-run of Hogan’s Heroes, for the demeanor and friendly personality of “W” seemed enough to give him a pass, for the moment, on all of the torture and high war crimes that he, his boss, “Dick” Cheney and the rest of the motley crew executed during the first few years of this new century of human existence on planet earth–all in the name of the UNITED STATES of AMERICA and her real people…  Lawrence O’Donnell, of the great show, “The Last Word, with Lawrence O’Donnell”, airing, again, only on MSNBC, at 10 pm and 1 am, had, as his guest on last night’s show, retired Brigadier General Janis Karpinski, who said this of Bush’s lack of an explanation as to the goings on at the secret prison, Abu Ghraib and the humiliation the United States felt after it was revealed to the WORLD the specifics of prisoner abuse, by the United States, which was rampant and abhorrent.  “I was flabbergasted, when I saw portions of the interview on the television last evening.  I couldn’t watch it, it was so annoying, it’s just infuriating…”  O’Donnell, “Is he pretending not to know things about Abu Ghraib that he does?”  Karpinski, “Absolutely, maybe his ignorance is showing now, maybe the people who surrounded him already knew the details of Abu Ghraib, and didn’t share it with him, and he didn’t want to share them, his objective may have been different from there’s…yet, he justifies the technique of water boarding, he minimizes it to only 9 prisoners…”  One of whom we water boarded over 180 times… To quote Mr. Bush, “I asked experts of our legal team, are these legal?  (waterboarding) They said yes, they are, and I said, USE ‘EM.”  When you cozy up to your coach and listen to the docile, aging former president sit on Oprah Winfrey’s nice, pale yellow leather chairs on a peaceful day in November and look at the smiling, relaxed man speak of his Presidency, or the lack therein, in a passive aggressive defensive manner, it can’t help but bring up issues of the past–implying that we know what we are doing and if you are a “real American” you will follow suit, or we will label you as a commy, liberal tree hugger who probably supports DADT…”  When you listen once again to that vile hor$eshit, you will come to realize the one central, lasting gift of George “W” Bush– WE DON’T HAVE TO LISTEN to YOU anymore! With the President of the United States in Indonesia at present hour, the likes of Mitch, “the mouse”, McConnell, John, “billy bob”, Boehner, and Eric, “the weenie”, Cantor are busy showing the tea party the service entrance to the Wianno Country Club (or, fill in the blank of your favorite upscale club, anywhere, USA or abroad), giving them advice on how to deal with billionaires who don’t seem to have the heart to tell them they are nothing more than indentured servants–here WE all are, the “American People” who have been struggling for the past 30 years in an uphill battle of the haves’ and have nots’.  My friend David Cay Johnston, Pulitzer Prize winning author of “Free Lunch”, a must read, was on “Countdown, with Keith Olbermann,” last night, who will, there is a GOD, return to his critically acclaimed show tonight, where he spoke to the Bush tax cuts of 2001 and 2003–originally meant to be temporary, sorry “mouse” it’s a FACT, and what adding another 4.1 trillion dollars to the national debt, equivalent to adding up the costs of the Iraq war, the stimulus, TARP and the health care bill combined, would actually mean in the long run, when by doing so would prove, finally, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that these “members” of congress are NOT on the side of said “American People” and wish to continue to process of turning this country into a PLUTOCRACY, all under the guise and cover of a fake grass roots effort, originally created by Koch Industries among others, called the “tea party”–what adding all of that debt would actually mean to the economic outlook for this country and indeed world at large, or rather our shrinking place in it.  Historically speaking, from a high economics viewpoint, cutting taxes on the wealthy does nothing for the economy, to the tune of a return of 35-40 cents on the dollar, compared to $1.75, on the higher levels, when a traditional stimulus, or even a tax break for the middle class is introduced–reason?  People who don’t have a whole lot of disposable income tend to spend it on little things that sustain LIFE such as food, shelter, and basic survival needs, thus, putting money BACK into the economy, not stowing it away in off shore tax shelters, banks and the like.  With the outpouring of LOVE, by some, for our former President, many consider the worst President in American history, George “W” Bush, and based on the way the world is right now, who can argue that FACT, old “W” is launching his new book, “something to do with decisions, ’cause I’m the decider…”, I think that was it, where he “makes no apologies for his actions and has no regrets,”… is a little tough to take this early in the morning, especially if your were feeling a little nauseous to begin with.  Our country is in the mess it is right now BECAUSE of that man and his pit boss “Dick” Cheney who got more out of the relationship than “W” did, getting filthy rich on Halliburton stock during the Iraq LIE, while that same company has been busy recently making bogus cement that CAUSED the Deep Water Horizon disaster, and then finally creating a loop hole in the EPA that you could shoot a 12 gauge shot gun blast through, back in 2005, that has now allowed his company, along with the evil KOCH BROTHERS, to rape and pillage our land via “fracking”, the hydraulic fracturing of shale rock in over 37 states now, with poisonous, deadly chemicals, 596 of them, pumped into the earth, under high water pressure, that then seeps into the water supplies, as well as into the air via air born contaminants pushed out from these ill-fated wells, and is making people, poor people, all over this great land of OURS, sicker and sicker, with no way out, as the EPA, the environmental protection agency, has no teeth to investigate these claims and moreover, no regulatory muscle to do anything about it if they did.  Why don’t we all just tell REPUBLICORP that we give up, build your Nazi camps and gas us, because you are, in effect, already doing so.  The likes of Boehner, McConnell and Cantor, along with their puppet masters, the “man behind the curtain”, the multi-national corporations that can smell blood, are doing this as I write this entry for today, they are looking to the natural disaster of Hurricane Katrina as a guide–awaiting yet another natural disaster, any disaster, or create one, by going to war with Iran, plummeting this country into a deeper rabbit hole than it is already in.  WE ARE IN TROUBLE as a nation and our President is apologizing to the republicans far too often and far too sincerely, for he does not seem to understand that this is a war, a war for the very heart and soul of the AMERICA that was created by men like Thomas Jefferson, whose vision of the DEMOCRACY that we hold so dear is being “fracked” by a crazy group of rich white men who don’t care about our “grand children’s” future, for if they did, they would not want it to be without glaciers, polar ice caps (as well as Polar Bears) and rain forests–not to mention all of the beautiful creatures that adorn our amazing little blue rock we all call earth.  WAKE UP AMERICA and see the writing on the wall!     Have a
