Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket!  Very good to be with you on this Saturday morning, the last day of July 2010, as we are enjoying yet another beautiful day here in Osterville, with cool temperatures, comparatively, and plenty of sunshine…so come on down and visit!  We’ll leave the LIGHT on for ya!  In the immortal words of the creators of the cult television series classic “Monty Python’s Flying Circus”, “and now for something completely different”, I bring to you the words of Mr. Oscar Wilde at his home in London, England, circa 1895, courtesy of the late great Graham Chapman, John Clease and Michael Palin and the rest of the crew from that ageless comedy team at Monty Python…enjoy.  AND ACTION: His “majesty”:  “My congratulations to you Wilde, all of London is talking about you.”  Wilde:  “The is only one thing worse than people talking about you, and that is people NOT talking about you.”  (uproarious laughter from the gathering of Oscar Wilde, his two rivals, James McNeil Whistler and George Bernard Shaw, along with the rest of the flunkies at the palace that night).  His “majesty”:  “Very witty, yes, very witty…”  Whistler:  “There is only one thing worse than being witty, and that is not being witty…”  (view of Wilde’s obvious displeasure at his friend’s laughing at him at his expense)  Wilde:  “I wish I had said that…”  Whistler:  “You will, Oscar, you will…”  (Wilde, obviously attempting to gain back the upper hand in the game of wit and words, sparks this one off),  Wilde:  “Your majesty, have you met James McNeil Whistler?”  “Yes, we play squash together.”  Wilde:  “There is only one thing worse than playing squash together, and that is playing it by yourself…”  (crickets)  Wilde:  “I wish I hadn’t said that…”  Whistler:  “You did, Oscar, you did…”  His “majesty”: “Right, should we go over to the palace now?”  Wilde:  “Your majesty is like a big giant donut, with cream at the top.”  “I beg your pardon!”  Wilde:  “um, ah, it was one of Whistler’s.”  Whistler:  “I never said that,”  King:  “Yes, James you did.”  Whistler:  “What I meant to say, was that, like a donut, your arrival brings us pleasure and your departure only makes us hungry for more.” (laughter, with Wilde visibly upset)  Whistler: “Your highness, you are also like a stream of bat piss…”  “what!?”  “It was one of Wilde’s, it was one of Wilde’s”…  Wilde:  “It soddening well was not, it was Shaw.”  Shaw:  “what I merely meant, your majesty, was that you shine out like a shaft of gold, where all around is dark.”  (mild laughter and recognition)  Wilde:  “Your majesty is like a dose of the clap.”  Whistler:  “yes, before your arrival, pleasure, and after a pain in the dark.”  “WHAT!?”  disclaimer:  substitutions for Mr. Oscar Wilde, James McNeil Whistler, George Bernard Shaw and “His Majesty”, can be (and are) made with the likes of George “W” Bush, “Dick” Cheney, Andrew Breitbart and Glenn Beck…not necessarily in that order.  Good night Salt Lake City, don’t forget to tip your waitresses!  Stay classy p.o.h.n.!  We love YA!  GOD’S SPEED to the GULF. Peace~M

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket!  On a dry, even cool, morning here on Cape, I bid you and yours a fair adieu.  Looking back at this week here in the good ‘ole USA, it seems we have not made much progress in the world of tolerance, compassion and grace.  Oh well, there’s always next week.  Jim Moran, (D-VA), one of the class acts of the House of Representatives, spoke to Newt Gingrich’s (former Speaker of the House) “speech” two days ago regarding the “left wing” agenda, and had this reaction from the year 1994, “we want our decade back!” This “speech” told the long tale of how progressive minds do not KNOW the truth, and to this, he might be right.  We don’t all know that your “party” is a joke of the highest order and we don’t all know that you are puppets of big business…  When asked about the “fraud” comment regarding the leftist socialistic agenda, Moran had this to say about “Newt” and his philosophy that he, along with the rest of the p.o.h.n., have adopted lock, stock and “barrel”.  A journey that goes no where, save away from true Love and Redwoods… “Newt has been a bit of a fraud ever since he was the Speaker of the House, when he froze down government and then had to scuttle to put it back when seniors were looking for their social security payment, and people wanted to go to national parks, I mean look at the record, he was probably one of the worst Speakers in American history, so if he wants to run for President in 2012, BRING IT ON!”  He went on to say, “I can’t imagine that the American people want to repeat the disasters of the last eight years, that everybody was PRAYING that this guy would get out of office and we could get somebody who knew what he was doing, to head up this great country of ours.”  Thank you Mr. Moran, a gentleman and a scholar.  You hit the nail right on the head.  As we watch a very good woman Shirley Sherrod take Andrew Breitbart, the now infamous blogger who defiled her good name by editing some video and releasing it to the public as FACT, to court for defamation, we ALL wish her well, for the only way, it seems, to stand up to a bully is to call him out on what and who he IS.  You have shown US all the way–tell the TRUTH and let that LIGHT shine in.  As Ms. Sherrod said and Mr. Moran echoed yesterday, “we must make sure that our elected officials, KNOW their American history.”  For the level of ignorance in this country seems to be at an all time high, and the sleazy p.o.h.n. knows this to be true and cashes in on it whenever possible.  The story of Shirley Sherrod is a story that the whole of America and indeed, the world, needs to know.  As a side note, “Countdown, with Keith Olberman,” the show and the man, have put together another free health clinic for those in need, with one becoming available on August 4th, in Washington D.C., with another following on August 31 and September 1 in New Orleans–not a moment too soon for those who are now suffering from PTSD as the collateral damage continues to mount in the Gulf torn region of this grand nation.  If you wish to see a physician, donate your time or services, or make a donation, go to FREECLINICS.US.  The need in this country is so great right now, and has truly never been higher, for ANY care to so many who live with the reality of having no insurance, no doctors in their area, or any money to pay for the most basic of CARE that we give on a regular basis to other nations who are in need, is better than no care at all. It is high time that the TRUTH is KNOWN of how many suffer within our blessed borders, and how we all claim the moral high ground of how ‘great’ we are as a nation–perhaps by looking in the collective mirror and not cheating the man in the glass, we may begin really turning a corner.  Is it the moral modus operandi of the “tea party”, mixed with the old p.o.h.n., to continue to kick our citizens when they are down?  GIVING IS RECEIVING, maybe that is why the p.o.h.n. is such a miserable band of thieves.  GOD’S SPEED to the GULF, all of the SEA TURTLES, DOLPHINS, WHALES, BROWN PELICANS and marsh lands therein…may the healing continue! Have a nice week end everybody!  Peace~M

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket!  On a very windy morning here on Cape, it is, as always, good to be with you.  Yesterday was perhaps the most beautiful day, thus far, on Cape Cod this summer, as the winds were strong, but dry, offering those white clouds that only appear, it seems, during the months of summer–giving us all pause to see the grandeur all around US, all around us, all around us…  On day 101 of the bp Deep Water explosion and subsequent environmental disaster that ensued and continues to this moment in “time”, I wish to relay some information that might help us all SEE a little clearer in regard to not only the disaster itself, but the subsequent cover up that continues even as I write these words.  The EPA, the “environmental protection agency”, that was hijacked by the Cheney/Bush administration in 2005, has been reported to have helped bp downplay it’s role of the environmental impact in it’s crime against nature, and subsequent cleanup efforts.  It has been compared to allowing the criminal to clean up the crime scene, aided and abetted by the stragglers placed in the “EPA” or, as it is better known, “the Halliburton loophole”, filled with the same corruption that was, and most likely still is, the MMS, or mineral management services, that allowed this disaster to happen to begin with.  The Washington Post reports that federal agents, that call themselves the “bp squad”, are investigating whether bp, Transocean or Halliburton, (before the blowout preventer blew sky high), lied to regulators, obstructed justice or faked the test results for their equipment, including that “blowout preventer”…  What is worse is the fact that bp is now, (advertising on corporate owned airwaves) advertising that, “the oil is getting harder to find…”  BULLSH$T! There have been 2200 reports of oil on beaches in the Gulf that are squashed by this “tycoon network” (a wholly owned subsidiary of FOX NEWS).  Hugh Kaufman, (EPA Senior Analyst) said on “Countdown, with Keith Olberman” yesterday, with Lawrence O’Donnell filling in for Mr. Olberman who is taking a much needed vacation, a few choice words that I would like to share with you regarding the toxicity and danger of the chemical dispersant Corexit 3500 that was used exclusively on the oil to do exactly what the commercial said, “make the oil disappear”…and I quote, “This dispersant is extremely toxic, Sweden has done studies on this, Israel has done studies on this, and the only real purpose of using so many dispersants with the oil was to cover up the VOLUME of oil, that was released from the well.  So that, and LYING about how much is coming out is the MECHANISM to let bp save BILLIONS of dollars in fines.”  He continued, “If they would not have used dispersants, we would have saved the eco-system that will now be affected for decades to come.  I was listening to the “so called” experts at bp, who are being paid by bp at “universities”, who are claiming that the oil has disappeared, IT HASN’T. It’s throughout thousands of square miles in the Gulf, mixed with dispersants and because of the temperature down there being so cold, these dispersants will be around for decades.  There was a political decision made to let bp take the lead (Cheney?) as opposed to the government being proactive, like we used to be.  The decision was made outside of the EPA, by political appointees, I don’t have the vision to see how high up that was made.”  When asked about the evidence regarding this damage by the dispersants, Hugh responded, “We have seen anecdotal information about sea mammals in the water, like dolphins, bleeding from their orifices, and some of the workers doing the “spill” cleanup with the same problem, the dispersant and oil mixtures are supposed to atomize materials, like oil, and well, if that gets into your system, that atomizes your cells and that is what causes hemorrhaging.  So, there is anecdotal information both down there in the Gulf and at the Exxon Valdez “spill” (21 years ago), that points to what bp has really done to the environment.”  When asked what can be done, Hugh responded, “We have hundreds of millions of gallons of oil spread out in the Gulf, with two million gallons of dispersant, and so what we must do is ACCURATELY monitor the air and water, be careful about seafood, and realize that we have now poisoned thousands of square miles of the Gulf, and WE have to recognize that and take the precautions so that we minimize the damage that has already been done to the Gulf.”  Sobering words from a man who does not have a reason to LIE. I wonder what John, “Billy Bob”, Boehner’s (R-OH) grandchildren would think of that?  GOD’S SPEED to the GULF, all of the people, SEA TURTLES, DOLPHINS, WHALES, BROWN PELICANS and marsh lands therein…may creative intelligence find the way! Have a nice day everybody!  Peace~M

LIGHT of Chatham

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket!  On a glorious start to the day here on Cape, with temperatures still hovering under 100 degrees, I am grateful that we are all still here…if you catch my drift.  It is always good to hear one of my friends from the “Heritage Foundation,” speak to the ills of the Bush tax cuts of 2001 and 2003, for he, Curtis Dubay, relayed what we all know to be true, that the p.o.h.n. is a lying, cheating group of individuals, bought and paid for by special interests, whose only goal is to continue a philosophy that was put on steroids by Cheney/Bush in the 00’s, pushing our cart off a cliff and asking to do that once again.  Ed Shultz, of the “Ed Show”, airing every week night at 6 p.m., EST, on MSNBC, had on his show yesterday the former Clinton advisor, Bob Shrum, a democratic strategist and professor at New York University, who spoke volumes to the question that is now a hot button for politicians throughout this torn nation of ours–whether or not we should extend the Bush tax cuts and whether or not those unpaid for tax cuts will lead to a worsening of our economy.  A rather silly premise, but one we should never count the p.o.h.n. out of, for they, their policies and their product IS silly, surreal and suspect at best.  Shrum, “Listening to Curtis, you’re gotta think, if you were a republican, you shouldn’t be talking about job destruction, outside of a confessional, because they have SET a record at it…  We KNOW what the Bush tax cuts did and didn’t do, we know that for 2.5 years after it passed there was NO new job creation.  We KNOW that there were a total of 3 million jobs created during ALL of the Bush years, compared to 23 million jobs created under President Bill Clinton, we KNOW that the congressional budget office says that out of the 11 possible things that we can do to help the economy, extending the Bush tax cuts for the people at the top 2 percent, is dead last. It is as one fifth as effective as passing, (passed), unemployment benefit compensation, or investing in the crumbling infrastructure.  This is not about economic policy.  This is about a right wing ideology of comforting the comfortable, and coming up with any excuse possible to pass a tax cut.  You can’t stand there and say “deficit”, “deficit”, “deficit” (Marsha, Marsha, Marsha!), all the time and then suddenly say I want to pass a policy that will add 1 trillion dollars to the national deficit.  In ten years that total, for all of the Bush tax cuts, that total will be 4.4 trillion dollars!  President Obama and the democrats need to have the guts to go out there and make their case to just say, we are for the middle class tax cuts, and we are not for giving huge tax breaks for people at the top, because if we give those huge tax breaks to people at the top, not only are we waging an unfair economic policy, we are NOT going to help our economy, and WE have to help this economy.”  As we watch bp drag it’s heals in paying ANY claims, as evidenced by countless poor people in the Gulf who would also like to “get their life back”, complaining that bp, from the beginning, with it’s shiny ads designed to fool the American public at large, has cried “red tape”… for their lack of compassion and currency when dealing with the people that they have hurt so deeply with their environmental crime of the century.  Let us get real, p.o.h.n., be a man about it, and just come out and tell the world what and who you really are–a bunch of greedy puppets on a string, with no vision, no intelligence, no GOD, and no soul. GOD’S SPEED to the GULF, all of the people, SEA TURTLES, DOLPHINS, WHALES, BROWN PELICANS and marsh lands therein… may the bastards at bp pay your claims! Have a wonderful day everybody!  Peace~M

Marsh Lands

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket!  Good to be with you on this Tuesday, the twenty seventh of July, 2010.  Weather on Cape Cod has improved from the record setting temperatures that have plagued the East coast now for most of the month of July, with “seasonable” temperatures expected today…80 degrees Fahrenheit with plenty of sun for all to enjoy.  As we embrace yet another day on this little blue rock I call earth, I thought I might share some insight from New York University’s President, John Sexton, who has put a definition on the ‘echo chamber’ that the blogoshere has become, replacing the “news” from traditional sources with loose LIES and fear manipulation, shaping the “hearts and minds” of, as the p.o.h.n. likes to put it, “the American people”…  What transpired with the firing of a valuable member of the USDA via a blatant fabrication of what was said, manipulating it into something that was the polar opposite of the TRUTH, remains the bench mark for up and coming “posts” by evil intentioned individuals like Andrew Breitbart and the rest of the republican “strategists” whose ultimate goal is to do the bidding of their corporate masters.  That bidding has nothing to do with the “American people”, or at least the ones who don’t have two nickles to rub together.  Sexton, who is opening a new concept for an international university that will take the best and brightest the world has to offer and, hopefully, come up with some real solutions to the monumental problems facing not only our country, but the world at large, is one of those anti-venom specialists who may help turn this tide of ignorance around.  “Praise the people who are engaged in thoughtful conversation,” said Sexton, “we need more “T” shaped people in this world, those with depth and breadth, bringing about ideas that promote the health and wealth of ALL, as opposed to the few, who hide behind a false premise that they are actually on the side of “the American people.”  We are not a stock, or a commodity to be traded on a day trading pc.  We will not be defined by your collective accepted egoic mess that the “powers that be” and utilitarians at large have defined as success.  Aristotle once said, “the great TRUTHS we learn experientially.” That would be counter-intuitive to the p.o.h.n., for they have created this great “echo chamber of deceit”, designed to create mistrust, misinformation, and mayhem.  No longer do we seem to have an open exchange of ideas that can transform the “talking points” or “common wisdom of the day” into an open dialogue of what is RIGHT and what is wrong.  What WE fail to realize is that OUR voice counts–that collectively, we see the folly of our ways, we KNOW the difference between what is right and what is wrong.  WE, collectively, can turn ANY tide and side on reason’s sweet shores, as opposed to the polar opposite, mutating as I write these words, defined in a prison of intolerance, fear and hate–a place where LOVE cannot be seen, felt or heard.  This IS a mission worth taking. LIGHT shines through the darkness, eliminating it forever, and the more people embrace that fact and take action, the quicker this country of OURS will heal from decades of mismanagement, misguided intentions and mistakes of monumental proportions, such as our misplaced priority of taking care of our brothers and sisters who may not have what you or I have…you know, in the SPIRIT of the religion of choice for the p.o.h.n., Christianity, whose sole spokesperson once said, “what you do to the least of me, you do unto me.”  GOD’S SPEED to the GULF, all of the people, SEA TURTLES, DOLPHINS, WHALES, BROWN PELICANS and marsh lands therein…may your nightmare be over soon! Have a nice Tuesday everybody!  Peace~M

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket!  I pray that you had a nice week end, as the weather here on the Cape feels like it dropped 20 degrees…I actually had to put on a fleece–alert James, “mountain”, Inhofe and tell him that I, along with countless credible scientists, was wrong and that he was right–global warming is “the biggest hoax ever played on the ‘American people’.”  Ah, the party of no, strike that, the party of “hell no”.  Hell no! to clear cut scientific facts about what carbon emissions are doing to this planet as evidenced by the intense heat wave that is gripping not only the United States, but Moscow, where record breaking temperatures sent the capital of Russia into the 100’s once again yesterday, with no relief in sight.  Yes, that man, James, “she’ll be comin’ round the mountain when she comes,” Inhofe (R-OK) may, if the Republicans take back the Senate (GOD FORBID) in the fall, become the next Ken Salazar, Secretary of the Interior, where he can put his “theory” (much like the Monty Python skit, “Anne Elke”(John Clease), offered to the late great Graham Chapman on Brontosauruses, i.e., how they are very thin at one end, much, much thicker in the middle, and very, very thin again at the far end…) on how polar ice caps melting at an alarming speed is just another left wing hippy hoax played by former members of ACORN, the DNC and guests on “Countdown, with Keith Olberman.”  Add to that, the nightmare scenario of the p.o.h.n. (GOD FORBID) winning the House of Representatives as well, and then you will have Joe, “I’m sorry (bp)”, Barton (R-TX) who will take over a key committee position on energy…  Why not let ALL the wolves into the hen house?  Let us bring back “Dick” Cheney to run the cleanup effort in the Gulf, making sure that bp pays no one in the Gulf states who are now complaining that bp has not paid out any claims, even as we watch add after countless ad, on every network, claiming, in the same vein as Tony, “GONE SAILIN’ (permanently), Hayward, with his syrupy prose, that “bp” is doing everything in it’s power “to make this right”…right. Whether or not you believe in “global warming” is akin to you believing that “you” did not create “you”.  It is true, global warming that is, and even if you stick that giant head of yours in the sand Mr. Mountain Man, (for you are nothing more than the shill, we all know you are, for big oil, and the interests therein) it will not make the droughts, fires, warming temperatures, stronger storms and devastating floods any less REAL.  I look forward to your next syllable with great eagerness.  The biggest opportunity for ALL of US to have embraced in this devastating environmental disaster in the Gulf is still CLIMATE CHANGE and our lack of urgency in facing it directly.  The Chinese, Indians, Brazilians and most of Europe have adopted so many fossil free ideas that they will take advantage of the situation, creating millions upon millions of jobs, and leave us behind, as a third world nation, which is where the p.o.h.n. want us to be anyway, or more to the point, the corporate ‘robber barrons’ who pull their little strings on a daily basis.  We look at Ohio in a special that Anne Curry, of NBC, created last night, and the epic hunger that exists in the house leader’s John, “billy bob”, Boehner (R-OH), home state of Ohio.  These poor, good people are often too proud to get food from a food bank, that is quickly running out of food, for they have worked their whole lives and lived them honorably.  I find it ironic that the “leader” of the House minority has the guts to go on his little press tour and talk of anything other than how he will bring back jobs to that crippled state.  All he really cares about is maintaining the tax breaks, the BUSH tax breaks of 2001, 2003, for the wealthiest of us, adding another 350 billion to the deficit that he, and the rest of the clowns, seem so hell bent on “balancing”.  I suppose that buying some Frosted Mini-Wheats would break the budget though, right?  I can’t wait to hear what they have to say next on the matter of hunger that is quickly becoming a real issue in almost every state.  To quote Dean Wormer from the cult classic film “Animal House”, circa 1978, “there will be no fun of any kind.”  Except of course, if you consider marginalizing the already marginalized fun… GOD’S SPEED to the GULF, all the people, SEA TURTLES, DOLPHINS, WHALES, BROWN PELICANS and marsh lands therein…may your days of pain and suffering be over soon. Have a wonderful week folks!  Peace~M

Sunday Roses

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 6:47 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket!  I hope you and yours are well this morning, this twenty fifth day of July, 2010… The morning broke with some lingering rain here on Cape, and as we try and get that jet stream on down here to give us all a little relief from the oppressive heat and humidity on the East coast, we will most likely see temperatures soar once again here on this little sand bar created 11,500 years ago by the Last Great Ice Age–I wonder when we will be saying that again…  It is Sunday, and you all know what that means, it’s time for the “pundits” to come out of the wood work and spout their knowledge of what they may, or may not, have learned over the course of the past week… I’m envisioning something like this.  First, the major corporate owned airwaves will have on their shows, as a main point of topic, the controversy that rocked the White House via the poisonous words of Andrew Brietbart and his “friends” who, once again, made Hollywood, well, Hollywood.  You see, Mr. Breitbart is a right wing (nut) blogger who resides in the fair city of Hollywood, California, where he has created such plumbs as the ACORN “pimp” scam, along with countless others, polluting the waters of truth and hurting some good people along the way with, the weapon of choice for the p.o.h.n., LIES. People on the shows will express their “views” as to the shortcomings of, as history will show, a President who has literally battled against 10 Goliaths and won on many sweeping pieces of legislation that will make this country a better place FOR THE PEOPLE and maybe, just maybe, a little less lucrative for the corporations who have taken ownership of everything in America from the banking system to the environment that we live in.  Case in point, bp, who, in it’s infinite altruism and transparency, has made efforts to buy the scientists and scholars who make up the University brain trust of the Bayou, turning water into wine, or, in this case, oily sludge into an environmental boon, for we all know that the millions of barrels of oil that were “released” into the Gulf waters have been eliminated, that businesses have been restored and that the Brown Pelicans are doing just fine because, after all, Tony, “Gone Sailin”, Hayward promised that they would, “do everything in their power to make this right, to make the people of the Gulf whole again.”  LIES. Why don’t we get Tony and Brietbart together and write a blog that will PROVE that this disaster was actually the fault of the sea creatures themselves, that it was a diabolical plan by nature to sabotage such an important industry, so as to preserve the wilds of the Gulf–keeping it pristine and beautiful for generations to come?  Yes, those filthy sea turtles and the hippy left wing agenda, that’s the problem, right?  Why on God’s green earth would WE want these horrible corporations, who take everything and give nothing back, to stand up and be accountable?  Why?  When they have destroyed our economy, along with their henchman, the members of the p.o.h.n., 40 percent of our wetlands, our rivers and streams and drinking wells with the “fracking” of rock with 596 chemicals to produce “natural gas” effectively killing off our own citizens, fleeced sick people with bogus insurance scams (a.k.a., insurance policies) designed to take your money and give you NO care, and systematically made this once, BRAVE COUNTRY, into a mass of people who are in fear of finding their next meal.  Yes, we have come such a long way in this country of ours since the days of deregulation under a President who was the best actor the corporate world could have hired or asked for…  I await my friend George Will, who is a statue on the weekly news magazine, “This Week” on ABC, and baseball expert, to tell us all how bad the passing of financial reform, albeit toothless financial reform, but at least the idea of reform, was this past week and how the blaming of George W. Bush and his sick administration for the ills of the economy is not fair. This predictable outcome goes a long way in proving that George Will (and most republican “pundits”) is a shill for the big business that has taken over this great country of ours.  Everything on the plate does not deserve equal measure, or equal weight.  The media has proven their worth by who and what they put on the air, and by giving equal time and consideration to cheats and liars like the p.o.h.n. and the republican strategists who feed their teleprompters, they are throwing in the towel of journalistic integrity…  WAKE UP AMERICA! If we don’t fight the good fight, we will become a third world nation, with concentrations of wealth in microscopic regions of this country, mass unemployment, rising debt, a crumbling infrastructure, a failing environment and a dismantling of basic human rights–similar to the “regime” in China, where no one is allowed to question the government and no one has a voice that is given the equal weight that TRUTH should ALWAYS be afforded.  GOD’S SPEED to the GULF, anchors held, all of the people, SEA TURTLES, DOLPHINS, WHALES, BROWN PELICANS and marsh lands therein…may this nightmare be over soon. Have a blessed Sunday folks!  Peace~M

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket!  After receiving some much needed rain here on Cape, the day has dawned anew with clear skies and calm seas…another perfect day for the sport fueled by wind, sailing… The ideological fight between the left (right) and right (wrong) is now at a fever pitch.  One of my personal heroes of the House of Representatives, Mr. Alan Grayson (D-FL), received death threats recently and it disturbed me to no end.  Here is a MAN who stood up to these jackals, in both the House and Senate, regarding the TRUTH of who and what they ARE, and are not worthy enough to carry his jock strap, for if the roles were reversed, they would run in cowardice, a word that defines them quite nicely.  This is the man, if you recall, who stood up on the House floor, when everyone thought that health care was dead, and told the truth as to what the alternative, the truthful alternative, the p.o.h.n. offered the “American People”… “If you get sick, then die, and die quickly.”  This may sound over the top, but if you give it some thought, that is what they really have in mind.  This all started on the House floor on Monday night, regarding the “grand old party of hell no”‘ and their continued attempts to block even the most basic of ‘human need’ aid–unemployment benefits… I quote Mr. Grayson, “the people will lose their home if this bill doesn’t pass, the people will be living in their cars if this thing doesn’t pass, that’s why we need this to pass, and I would say to the republicans who want to block this bill from passing, and kept food out of the mouths of children, I will say to them now, may GOD have mercy on your souls.” Right wing (nut) blogger Dan Gaynor, I think that is how you spell his no-name, and his right wing (nut) buddies like Brent Bozell, clowns of the highest order, put together a Shakespeare like tweet that read, “I’ll give $100 to the first Rep who punches smary idiot Alan Grayson in nose.  He’s a caricature of a congressman (like Billy Bob Boehner?).”  Grayson responded, “truthfully, I think they intimidate people, I think that’s what the right wing does, to instill fear in the other side, I just want them to know that I punch back.”  Later that day, a Grayson intern answered the phone at the congressman’s office and was told, and I quote, “Ten people are going to kill the congressman within 24 hours.”  This is what America has been reduced to–thugs, from “Dick” Cheney on down to the lowest scum bag republican strategists who work for the biggest and most corrupt corporations and is then filtered down to the puppets in Washington who then filter the hate, fear and violence to crazies who would carry out such a deed against such a great man as Alan Grayson, if they were directed to by say a Sharron “Angle” by way of “second amendment remedies.” The way you deal with bullies and killers is to stand up to them and fight back, for they FEAR the LIGHT and tremble back into the darkness from where they came.  These robotic clowns, that wipe the back sides of Wall Street executives, will be called out for who and what they are if the LIGHT is kept on them 24/7… by all of US, for this country, whether you believe it or not, is still OUR country, not the corporations who have raped and pillaged it for the past 30 years, and WE must, as a collective consciousness of GOOD, stand up and call them out on who and what they really ARE.  It is time for the Obama administration to stop fooling themselves that scorpions have a heart, soul and mind…moreover, that these creatons really want the same things that YOU want Mr. President… so stand up and say, and I quote Mr. John Stewart from the “Daily Show”, “go F#$K yourselves, p.o.h.n.! and the horse you rode in on…”  GOD’S SPEED to the GULF, anchors hold your ground, all of the people, SEA TURTLES, DOLPHINS, WHALES, BROWN PELICANS and marsh lands therein…may your days be better and better! Have a nice week end folks!  Peace~M

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket!  It is good to be with you on this Friday morning, as we, here on Cape, expect temperatures to be in the upper 70’s with some rain forecasted for a little later on.  I will be on Nantucket Sound all day sailing, so come on down and visit US!  And, as always, we will leave the LIGHT on for ya!  Pretty interesting week of news here in the good ‘ole USA wouldn’t you think?  Where to begin…we can always start with the obvious, the p.o.h.n., the ‘grand old party of hell no’ and their intentions, programmed into their minds, via a computer chip from their corporate overlords, to destroy what was left in this country of honor, integrity, civility and grace…but that would be too easy.  The members of that “organization” will ultimately have to answer to a power much greater than they can imagine, as their egos will not allow for that, and so, their fate is already sealed.  That is not to say that some, if not all, can see the light and realize the folly of their ways, placing hate, greed and violence above LOVE, LIGHT and FROGS.  Love being all that really exists, Light being the creative intelligence that made all of “this” possible, and Frogs being the environment that we all share and have a responsibility to maintain, as best we can, for future generations to come.  I have cried many times over this Gulf disaster, (and I am not ashamed to write that) for it underscores the major malfunction that the human species seems to find itself in.  Have we become so blind as to not see the error in destroying the food chain for an eternal search for a source of energy that, too, is destroying our planet one day at a time?  A source of energy that will dry up in the next few years, as industry experts all conclude that “Peak Oil” is upon us and this “never ending war” is a fight for that resource that will become more and more expensive, in all kinds of ways, as the supply dwindles to a slow trickle.  “Go ahead and kill your neighbor, go ahead and cheat a friend, do it in the name of heaven, justify it in the end, there won’t be any trumpets blowin’, come the Judgement Day, on the bloody morning after, one tin soldier rides away.”  In that famous ballad contains the “thing” that they were all fighting for, the “prize” that all thought was worth all of the blood and treasure it ultimately cost them.  Was it gold, the Arc of the Covenant, the Holy Grail?  “PEACE ON EARTH” was all it said…  May the grace of God, whomever you want to call God, may his grace be with you and yours, ALWAYS, and may he, or she, heal this great land of ours and indeed the world, bringing us to peace and harmony with our fellow travelers on this broad band highway that was given to us so freely–giving back so that others may do the same.  GOD’S SPEED to the GULF, may your anchors hold tight in the coming storm–all of the SEA TURTLES, DOLPHINS, WHALES, BROWN PELICANS and marsh lands therein… Enjoy your week end everybody!  Peace~M

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket.  A much drier air flow is reaching Cape Cod this morning as evidenced by the mood of the birds waking to yet another beautiful a.m. on this little sand bar the Last Great Ice age created over 11,500 years ago…  Ah, FOX “NEWS”, we love ya!  Jump on that hate train fueled by racism regarding the recent firing of Shirley Sherrod, of the USDA, who was “muddied” by another false report by the “fair and balanced” fixed news network reporting that the “black woman” with held funds for a white owner years ago, suggesting that she was a racist herself.  Nothing could be further from the truth, she was merely making a comparison that was designed to be enlightening to ALL…that the color of one’s skin does not matter and that SHE had overcome, perhaps, some old demons of her own when it came to the resentments that are still so deep within black America of how the “white man” that she was talking to made her feel less than, i.e., that he was superior to her.  In other words, she evolved, while Shaun Hannity and the rest of the clowns over at FOX NEWS, and the right wing blogs that feed them, devolved even further down the rat hole that “fixed news” truly IS.  To quote Mr. Ben Jealous, again, the President of the NAACP, in regard to this slick republican strategist move (see word doctors.com), “with regard to the initial media coverage of the resignation of USDA official Shirley Sherrod, we have come to the conclusion we were snookered by FOX NEWS and the Tea Party Activist, Andrew Brietbart into believing she had harmed white farmers because of racial bias…Having reviewed the full tape, spoken to Ms. Sherrod, and, most importantly, heard the testimony of the white farmers mentioned in this story, we now believe the organization that edited the documents did so with the intention of deceiving millions of Americans.”  Ben Jealous appeared on the “Rachel Maddow Show”, airing every week night at 9 p.m. EST on MSNBC, and made these comments that throw a flood light onto lies that, when exposed, shrink back into the darkness from which they came… He went on to say, “I am very sorry this happened, for it should not have happened, when we look at what tea party activist Brietbart was doing, slicing and dicing the video tape, manipulating the structure and content of this poor woman (who served her country with honor and distinction) and what FOX and the Tea Party tried to create, when you look at that, it is very disturbing.”  This was perhaps, an example of how fearful many in this country are of the right wingnut jobs that depend on lies, intimidation and hate to fuel their policies that mirror the same.  This was a monumental moment in this country’s history, even if we don’t all recognize it as that right now.  For this was a woman who, with her soul bared, exposed her own shortcomings as to how she felt while helping a land owner keep his land, when only a hundred, or less, years ago, her ancestors faced similar degrading circumstances and she was merely saying that she recognized the pain, she could empathize, she could show COMPASSION–a dirty word to the p.o.h.n., their handlers, the corporations and the followers of such a cult born in hatred, ignorance, intolerance and violence.  This was a transformational woman, who, if our eyes were open enough, showed us the way out of that hatred and out of the cave that Plato described so well in “The Republic”.  So FOX NEWS, enjoy your stay in the darkness of that cave, we’ll leave the LIGHT on for ya!  GOD’S SPEED to the GULF, all of the people, SEA TURTLES, DOLPHINS, WHALES and BROWN PELICANS and marsh lands therein…may the miracle happen yesterday! Have a nice day folks.  Peace~M

Walk on Dowses

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 6:25 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket!  Just returning from a spin around Osterville–down from my home on Oak Ridge, left on Main Street, right on East Bay, where I sat near my little sail boat, “Ti amo”, who is moored there, watching my Osprey sitting atop my mast, then taking the curves around the entrance to Dowses Beach and up to Parker Ave, where, taking a right, I find myself sitting for a moment at the Wianno Golf club.  No one in the parking lot, so I just thought of the British Open for a moment and then arrived back home without seeing more than two people–but plenty of wildlife!  Not bad for an hour of “me” time…  I thought I would turn away from the Gulf for a moment, with the situation always in my heart, and tackle the issue that is facing so many hurting Americans these days–the economy.  Gary Rivlin, author of the book, “Broke America”, speaks to this gathering industry of “pay day lenders”, pawn brokers and anyone else who takes advantage of the downtrodden for economic gain–a 7 billion dollar a year industry and growing…  More “pay day loan” centers exist in the United States now than all of the McDonald’s and Burger Kings combined, and why not?  McDonald’s does not make 400 percent interest on your purchase of a quarter-pounder, but you may contract heart disease from eating it on a regular basis.  For example, you have someone who is looking to simply make “ends meet” and is desperate, so, he/she turns to one of these payday loan centers for a loan that will get them through to the next pay period.  They take out a 500 dollar loan, but attached to that loan is over 2000 dollars in fees and penalties (in fine print) that are, more often than not, difficult for the typical patron of one of these sleazy establishments to comprehend this “fine print” that is offered while they literally sign their life away… Many times this turns into an APR of between 400-600 percent interest– to the very people who can least afford it.  This practice is the polar opposite of what is happening on Wall Street, where the investment banks borrow that same MONEY from places like the FED and pay it back in interest rates that are less than 3 percent.  By borrowing money, they actually made money, in the past financial crisis.  This microcosm of the greater macrocosm defines the problem that exists within the boarders of this great country of ours.  A growing and insurmountable gap between the have’s and the have nots.  Now, the p.o.h.n. would have you believe that “they” are the one’s for fiscal responsibility when, in fact, they blocked bills that were meant to protect the most innocent and vulnerable of our citizens from predatory lending, just like the predatory lending that transpired with the housing bubble.  Who made money from that debacle?  Goldman Sachs and it’s investment banking brethren.  So, when Obama said this upcoming election is about choice, he meant exactly that.  If you want the “Mr. Potter’s of the world” running the show, charging the poor 600 percent interest on their mac and cheese, by all means vote republican.  But, if you want to see this country embrace it’s true nature and form at it’s birth, “that all men are created equal”, then consider the alternative to hate, violence, greed, corruption, anger, and FEAR.  All part of what defines the “party of hell no”, or p.o.h.n., or pawn, for that is what they truly are, pawns for big business and the kickbacks they receive are reflected in their mean spirited words when describing the electorate who have no jobs because that same party shipped those overseas to make a buck for themselves…  GOD’S SPEED to the GULF, all of the people, SEA TURTLES, DOLPHINS, WHALES, BROWN PELICANS and marsh lands therein…may that miracle happen today! Have a nice day folks!  Peace~M

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket!  Another cool start to the day, relative to the rest of the recent days here on Cape, that have been unseasonably warm, assuming we can still use the word “seasonable” anymore with a straight face.  President Obama drew a line in the sand yesterday with some tough talk to the deaf ears of the p.o.h.n., in regard to the extension of unemployment benefits.  The p.o.h.n. wants to block these benefits because they are “concerned” with the “deficit”, but have no problem keeping in place the tax cuts for the wealthiest in this country that were never paid for, along with the two wars (an extra 3 trillion so far), and the prescription drug plan that all amounted to over 720 billion dollars in “things” that were well beyond “their” means, and “the American people know it...”  More on that in a minute, the most important news of the day, this day 92 of the Gulf oil “spill”, was the fact that the well cap has remained a success…however, there has been a leak that is roughly 2 miles away from the well head, seeping a gaseous mixture of some kind into the water, which could indicate that there is something wrong with the “casing” of the well head, and subsequently a leak.  Because the pressure is holding steady at 6800 psi, below the number of 9000 psi they were looking for, indicating no leak, it remains a mystery why this “seepage” is occurring under the sea bed and if it has anything to do with the well head, seismic activity, or if it represents a larger problem in that the entire casing integrity is shot altogether.  Whatever the problem is, the curious questions remain–for one, why is bp not bringing the oil it captured up to the surface ships that were put in place to begin with, especially considering there are now two more valves designed to both relieve pressure and allow for more oil to be released to said surface ships?  As the relief wells get closer to killing the well with drilling mud and cement that will stop the flow of oil from the source, the engineers need to be cautious of that “cap” and the pressure it represents in relation to the possibly compromised casing, does not blow apart the well entirely, causing the oil to flow out freely again in the waters of that beautiful Gulf…  William Shakespeare once said, “to thine known self be true.”  He also wrote that “something stinks in Denmark”…I pray dear Sarah, “thirty odd six”, Palin, Mr. William Shakespeare called me this morning regarding your recent comparison with that playwright and his epic work over 500 years ago and wants his comparison back–PRONTO.  He was very disturbed by your using your name and his in the same breath, then screamed out, “I f#$king refudiate that?!” and then quoted our friend Mr. Keith Olberman, “that woman is an IDIOT!” The party of hell no is a useless group of men and women who prey on the poor and ignorant in this country, claiming that they have a finger on the pulse of the “American people” by saying that talking point ad nauseum.  I believe I heard one or another member of the p.o.h.n. say the favorite talking point #5077, “what the American people want,” “the American people really want,” or “We, the republicans, KNOW what the American people want” over 40 times in one speech alone.  Here’s what they really want for “the American People”– they want them to be destitute, scrounging for food, ’cause we sure as hell ‘aint going to give ‘em any, they want them sick, without proper health care, downtrodden and desperate, willing to grovel and beg for mercy from the mighty evangelical angels that are the p.o.h.n… They want good paying 7 dollar an hour jobs at fine restaurants like McDonald’s and Burger King.  They want to be left alone from this communist, government that is taking over their lives and bring back America like it once was, back to the days when a man could own a sl…., oh, I see our time is up.  But, remember this, we stand by and KNOW what the “American People want.” We won’t give you any specifics about what we would do differently, but we KNOW what they want, just like when I beat my kids, they KNOW they want to be beaten, so, oh, I went to far again, sorry, ah, er, I will conclude by saying what the “American People want is a government that is small, and effective in giving the corporations what they want and need…oh, I have?  OK, I have gone too far again, so suffice to say, “we, the “party of hell no”, KNOW what the “American people want (talking point #5077, trademark) and we will use our second amendment remedies to prove that to them, should the “American people” get out of line…”  Thank you Mr. John, “orange guy”, Boehner (R_OH), you are a gentleman and a scholar!  GOD’S SPEED to the GULF, all of the people, SEA TURTLES, DOLPHINS, WHALES, BROWN PELICANS and marsh lands therein…may this miracle happen soon! Have a nice day everybody!  Peace~M

Sea Cathedral

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket! I awoke early this morning here in Osterville, around 4:30 a.m., and sat outside in my back yard and listened to the birds, as they are numerous here on Cape, as they also awoke early.  Their calls echoing the sound of LIFE and all of the creatures that share this wonderful planet with us, as we wait for the rest of humanity to catch up…  The Sunday talk shows provided some insight as to the partial “truth” being offered on the corporate owned media outlets these days–sifting out the true from the false is always the game being played, as the “pundits” banter back and forth as to what is “right” and what is “wrong” with this great country of ours.  Joe Biden, our Vice President, and all round good guy, gave an interview on “This Week”, where he expressed his strong support of what the Obama administration has done in the past two years.  To quote Mr. Biden, “If I had been elected President, I could not have accomplished what Obama has done in a single month.”  The Obama administration does not get enough credit for truly turning a foundering ship around and preventing it from going over the waterfall and into the abyss, for the “sins of our fathers” have certainly caught up with us all, and, if we are to succeed, we must face the truth of what is really going on and work together as a nation to rekindle the pride of what the United States of America really stands for–Liberty and Justice for ALL. That sentiment, as well as the KNOWLEDGE available to all who seek it, however, becomes distorted and muddied by the p.o.h.n., the right wingnut media and the corporate interests who see the United States as a big Wall Mart–a place to make money for “number one” and to hell with the rest of the population, especially the poor, the environment and the next few generations of Americans.  Biden made the eloquent argument that the upcoming elections in the fall are all about “choice”.  Do you want to go back and relive the policies under George W. Bush, Dick Cheney and Halliburton?  If you vote for a republican, that is what you are voting FOR. For the p.o.h.n. is now a unified front against social progress, tax breaks for the middle class (they want to extend, forever, the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy that will amount to 700 billion dollars), health care, social security, medicare, financial reform of any kind, regulation in dangerous industries such as oil, coal, natural gas, nuclear and, really, any industry whatsoever, stating that the “free market” will police itself, just like the MMS and oil industry did with the Deep Water Horizon disaster.  Electing a republican congress and senate will mean just that, a trip down memory lane and into the land of plutocracy, where the “small” people are relegated to an after thought, with no real relevance and certainly no power to effect change of any kind.  If I didn’t know any better, I would say the p.o.h.n. wants to repeal all the way back to 1964, where the Civil Rights Act was born into reality in this country.  Ben Jealous, President and CEO of the NAACP, said this about the ever volatile “Tea Party” movement, “The Tea Party members have called congressman the n-word, have called congressman the f-word.  We see them carry racist signs, and whenever it happens, the membership tries to shirk responsibility…If the Tea Party wants to be respected and it wants to be part of the mainstream in this country, they have to act in a responsible way.”  The old argument that the NAACP, as George Will, baseball expert, would have you believe, is irrelevant, in light of the fact that we have a black president is, and I quote Mr. Mark Twain, “greatly exaggerated”.  Not since the Civil War have two political and social entities, the Tea Party and the NAACP, been more diametrically opposed–on every issue, philosophy and demographic.  To quote my dear friend George Will, baseball expert, once again, “there’s nothing like name calling in a kind of left wing McCarthy(ism) to enable the NAACP to make a desperate lunge for it’s vanished relevance (if you live in West Chester County); there’s not a shred of evidence that these racial slurs took place.”  That’s right George, the congressman, the President of the NAACP and intelligent people who watch television for something other than to melt the brain with programmed nonsense, are all lying and out to “get you”.  Well, George, again, you have had the opportunity to gain respect from people like me, but choose to hide in the ignorant fear of the p.o.h.n., and more importantly, their corporate masters who ARE the ones who promoted this onslaught of racism that we have not seen since the days of Martin Luther King Jr., where African Americans finally were seen as equal, just as the CONSTITUTION proclaims and demands…were the founding fathers lying too? Ask yourself this question Mr. Will, what defines a leader?  Hate?  Intolerance?  Fear mongering?  Greed?  Lust for power?  To listen to the flagrant hypocrisy that comes out the mouths of “men” like John Cornyn (R-TX), along with his side puppet, Pete Sessions, an up and coming mouthpiece for the idiot ‘party of hell no’, who spoke on “Meet the Press” with David Gregory, you might think these politicians developed amnesia or had a lobotomy… The fact that we, as a “nation” need to live within our “means” is lost on the fact that “W” put this country in a hole with his out of control spending on 2 wars, 2 tax cuts and a prescription drug plan that were ALL unpaid for–amounting to over 3.8 trillion dollars… Oh, that only applies after we permanently extend tax breaks for the wealthy, continue to inflate an overweight defense budget, perhaps start a few more wars (that are not paid for) and take away successful social programs like social security and medicare, funneling them to the ‘honest’ insurance industry.  When the p.o.h.n. says the “American People” want to “live within their means”, they are exercising the words provided by strategists like Frank Luntz, (of word doctors.com), who, translated, imply that we continue along the path towards plutocracy–rule by the wealthy–and as soon as we have the Supreme Court, the Executive (again), and majorities in the House and Senate, we will crush any movement that resists this ultimate goal.  I think Tracy Morgan, of SNL and “30 Rock” fame, said it best, and you can substitute “Cosby” for the “p.o.h.n.” if you wish, “The Cosby Show LIED to me!”  That’s right Tracy, they did LIE to you…  GOD’S SPEED, continued SPEED, to the GULF, all of the people, SEA TURTLES, DOLPHINS, WHALES, BROWN PELICANS and marsh lands therein…may the miracles keep coming. Have a wonderful week folks!        Peace~M

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket!  A beautiful morning here in Osterville, with drier temperatures and a cool northwest wind.  Sunday mornings are always fairly quiet here on Cape, as the good folks sleep in a little after a day of fun in the sun, dinner out and maybe a movie…so come on down and visit US, we will leave that LIGHT on for ya!  I thought I might offer a poem written by Mary Oliver once again, a noted poet here on the Cape, as I take pause to remind myself of the importance of wildlife and the little blue rock I call earth, the only home we have at PRESENT.  Have a wonderful Sunday everybody!

Many Miles

The feet of the heron,

under those bamboo stems,

hold the blue body,

the great beak

above the shallows

of the pond

Who could guess

their patience?

Sometimes the toes

shake, like worms.

What fish

could resist?

Or think of the cricket,

his green hooks

climbing the blade of grass–

or think of camel feet

like ear muffs,

striding over the sand–

or think of your own

slapping along the highway,

a long life,

many miles.

To each of us comes

the body gift.

Osterville Day

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 7:54 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket!  On a beautiful day here on Cape, the little seaside village of Osterville will celebrate it’s “birthday” today in the annual “Osterville Day”, complete with a parade, an antique car show and other events as the town comes together once again in solidarity of being everything “Cape Cod”–so come on down and visit US, we will leave the LIGHT on for ya!  This has been quite a week of news in the United States, as Wall Street “reform” passed the Senate with a little help from Olympia Snow (R-ME).  At the same time, Goldman Sachs was fined 550 million dollars for it’s shady dealings on that darkened street, but, with news of the fine, Goldman’s stock rose 7 percent…Let us look at that again, for it goes a long way in giving us some insight as to what is really going on.  The passage of the Finberg bill coincided, but was not exclusive, with the SEC’s settlement with Goldman Sachs, and thus, closed the door on any criminal proceedings that should have taken place regarding Goldman’s involvement in creating financial instruments that were designed to fail, all the while “selling” those products to it’s own investors.  The CDO market, the evil culprit of the financial meltdown of 2008, came into existence 23 years ago after the collapse of the savings and loan industry, a similar “shell game” of massive proportions that also threatened, albeit not to the same degree, the economic health of the United States.  This is where the problem lies and most economists believe that, “we have closed the door on doing anything to changing the nature of how anything is done on Wall Street.”  In fact, those same economists believe that (80 percent) the U.S. will experience another major financial meltdown.  We need the cops (the SEC) to be real cops, Elliot Ness type of cops, truly regulating, with teeth, the crooks on Wall Street–gambling with our grandparent’s 401 (k)’s and our grand children’s future.  John Paulson, a hedge fund manager may have made money on the scam, but so did Goldman and that is what we should have been going after–the fact that they PROFITED off of the scam of toxic assets that they themselves created is the real issue here.  Teddy Roosevelt dealt with this bully metality with the ‘robber barons’ over one hundred years ago, turning the corrupt financial system into a stable system that lasted the test of time.  Obama has done well, though, just to get something through, but he must appoint people like Elizabeth Warren to head up the consumer protection agency, newly formed, or it will be a joke.  Turning our attention to the Gulf and the all important question of ‘pressure’, we have at least seen the well head not emitting any oil into the Gulf for 48 hours now, and with the pressure per square inch still at 6700, as opposed to the low number of 6000 p.s.i., or below (which would indicate a leak), or the high number of 9000 (indicating no leak at all under the surface) the tests on the integrity of the casing continues through seismic tests even as we speak.  That of course is great news, although we all are keeping our fingers crossed.  But, the question of the cover up, how much oil went into the Gulf, and more importantly, how much of the Corexit 3500 dispersant, the highly toxic banned substance created to hide oil spills, was used and most importantly, how is that chemical cocktail going to cost our environment in the way of tainted fish and a damaged eco-system (food chain) that could threaten all of us for years to come?  When I say cover up, think about it for a moment, if they knew how much of the dispersant to use 5000 feet below the surface and on the surface (via airplanes and the like), how could they not have known how much oil was “spilling” into the Gulf?  How could they have gotten the formula right?  According to the AP, 1.8 million gallons of the Corexit are now in the Gulf waters, mixing with the oil and creating something that no one knows of, from a chemical standpoint, and we do not have the information on that because bp will not release it to the EPA.  The Senate held it’s own hearings yesterday, with both parties and experts in attendance, with testimony regarding the EPA and it’s “complete lack of urgency in investigating the dispersant’s risk to humans, marine life and the marsh lands.”  Ken Cook, from the Environmental Working Group, said this on “Countdown, with Keith Olberman” on Friday, “the government allowed unprecedented use of the dispersants.  We walked into this almost completely blind, almost completely unprepared to understand the impact of the use of these dispersants on human beings, the marine environment and the long term health of the Gulf and beyond.”  Bp is facing a law suit from Earth Justice, to force the EPA to release safety studies on the effects of chemical dispersants.  The question on everyone’s mind is this–“what are the dispersant’s doing to our water?” Cook, “we don’t know, we have no idea, for they have been used at depths of 5000 feet where they were not designed to be used to begin with.  We are in uncharted waters.”  Mr. Cook went on to say that he does not want the bp workers who are getting sick from the dispersant to see ‘bp doctors’, as this is all being “hushed up” by bp, and the cover up continues unabated, as bp has set up no system to measure the dispersants on game fish, for example, and this will have the long term effects on health, if not at least tested, so that we know what we are up against, for both wildlife and humans alike.  “This unnatural catastrophe has created a catastrophic failure of government, of regulation, of law and of the companies operating down there who told us all along that this would not happen.”  I wonder what John, “Orangeman”, Boehner  (R-OH) and “leader” of the house minority, has been drinking, perhaps the dispersants in the Gulf water, when he claimed yesterday, in another useless republican news conference, that he wants a “moratorium” on ANY regulation– be it banking, oil, insurance, Wall Street, coal, nuclear, or any other safety net that you can think of–congratulations John, you have sealed your place in the upcoming reality tv show series, “the biggest Jacka#$” of the year award, coming to pay-per-view soon.  To quote SNL circa 1975 and a little skit called Point-counter Point, and I quote the man who might as well be ‘billy bob’ Boehner’s brother, “Shana, they bought their tickets, they knew what they were getting into, I say let ‘em crash.”   GOD’S CONTINUED SPEED to the GULF, all of the people, SEA TURTLES, DOLPHINS, WHALES, BROWN PELICANS and marsh lands therein…may the miracle happen permanently. Have a wonderful Saturday folks!  Peace~M

Chatham Monument

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket!  On a foggy morning here in Osterville, I hope you and yours are doing just fine this Friday morning, the sixteenth day of July.  Tomorrow is “Osterville Day”, a time to celebrate the joys of this small hamlet in New England–with antique car shows, a parade down Main street and plenty of food and drink for all.  It is one of the privileges of living in New England, for it seems that every little, medium and big town, like Boston, celebrates it’s heritage in similar fashion, keeping alive that old adage, “you don’t know where you are going until you know where you have been.”  Keep it classy Osterville!  Yesterday, in the Gulf of Mexico, a mini miracle did occur, and I thank creative intelligence for that fact.  The oil, that we have had to endure daily on a live feed from 5000 feet below the surface of the Gulf, stopped flowing into our waters–the first time in 87 days!  It almost felt like boredom when looking at the well head, in the live feed, without the drama of the oil gushing into the pristine water that is home to so many of our brothers, the sea creatures of the Gulf.  Is this the final solution to the problem?  No, it is not.  The well has been “capped” by this “stack cap”, however, it still needs to be tested for integrity purposes and then stopped permanently by the “relief well (s)” that are only 30 feet from reaching their goal.  For this fact alone, today, I am grateful and hopeful that the disaster is near its completion.  I wonder if that was enough to really get Mitch, “I got Stella’s groove back”, McConnell’s (R-KY), and “leader” of the minority in the United States Senate, “groove back”, but I suspect it was something else entirely.  I want to talk more about Mr. McConnell’s groove, not really, and how he “got it back”, but I have a sneaking suspicion that it had something to do with his fuzzy math and hypocritical stance on “fiscal responsibility”… In 2001 and 2003, George W. Bush signed into law the largest two tax breaks for the wealthy ever in the U.S., along with the sweetheart deal with the big pharmaceutical companies and insurance companies, and the two unfunded wars, resulting in turning the surplus that Bill Clinton left him into a record deficit put on the back of the American tax payer.  Today, the p.o.h.n. wishes to keep those tax breaks in place for, and I quote McConnell, “they will serve to reduce the deficit.”  Ah, what?  The grand old ‘party of hell no’ truly believes that the, as they like to say, “the American people want us to reduce the deficit”, (by not extending unemployment benefits, amounting to 1 percent of said deficit, but, keeping the tax breaks for the rich, amounting to, with everything tallied up, over 3.5 trillion dollars!), and truly believes that they can hoodwink the “American people” into believing their complete and utter falsehoods.  It is truly shameful to see “Mr. Groove” get all giddy with reporters when speaking of “the American people”– whom he has not known since his inception into the Senate a few hundred years ago.  The p.o.h.n. wishes to speed up the process of plutocracy and see it through to the end.  I hope that Mitch has plenty of food this week end and his family is safe and happy.  For the puppeteers that handle him and the rest of the crew in the p.o.h.n. do not really care all that much about him or his family, they are only interested in the bottom line and, like a shark, will leave you for dead after he steals everything you had, while he blames you and the democrats for the failing of democracy here in the good ‘ole USA.  And just for fun, will ridicule you and anyone like you who is struggling to find employment when all the jobs have been shipped overseas by those same puppeteers, calling you names like “hobo” and “spoiled citizenry”.  Good Luck finding your soul Mitch, and, as my friend Kieth Olberman said yesterday, “Stella and the makers of the movie, “How Stella got her Groove back”, want their cliche back.”  Pronto!  GOD’S CONTINUED SPEED to the GULF, all of the people, SEA TURTLES, DOLPHINS, WHALES, BROWN PELICANS and marsh lands therein…may you continue to have success! Have a great week end everybody!  Peace~M

Sea Turtle Rescue

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 7:24 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket! On a fine Cape Cod morning here in Osterville, I bid you and yours a fair adieu.  Yesterday at Dowses Beach, 10 sea turtles were released into the wild of Nantucket Sound, amidst a gathering of well wishers who saw the turtles off along with NECN, New England Cable Network and the New England sea mammal rescue team.  It was heartening to say the least, especially considering that these turtles’ brothers and sisters are suffering so in the Gulf of Mexico right now.  This annual event takes place at Dowses Beach here in Osterville and gives us pause to consider that there are still some good people out there who truly care about this little blue rock called earth and all of the beautiful animals that inhabit it, rather share it with us “human beings”. Regarding that horrible “spill” in the Gulf, we are all wondering what the hell is really going on with the stopping and starting of the relief well that is now only 37 feet away from it’s destination.  Bob Cavnar, a contributor to the Huffington Post, a former oil executive and creator of the blog called the “Daily Hurricane”, spoke on Keith Olberman’s show, “Countdown, with Keith Olberman”, airing every week night at 8 p.m. on MSNBC, regarding this same question.  Bp is flying blind without an instrument rating and the big question–why is bp taking the risk of creating too much pressure on the otherwise, perhaps, compromised “casing” of the well itself, when they are so close to killing the well with the relief well that, again, is only 37 feet from it’s goal.  Cavnar, “they hope they can shut down some of the production from the well, so they can open it back up, open it up to the surface, to the Q4000 (a tanker ship) and the Helix producer; that it will be producing at a rate less than it was producing when the well was an “open flow”.  So it will be harder to tell what the total flow was from when it was completely uncontrolled.”  Keith asks the question, “So, they are still taking steps to indemnify bp rather than the best available practices to shut down the disaster on the Gulf floor?”  Cavnar, “It’s the only thing I can think of Keith, because the whole reason for this cap was to allow two more outlets to produce to 4 ships and capture between 60-80 thousand barrels of oil a day, and this whole business of shutting in and shutting down the relief well just doesn’t make any sense to me at this point, for there is a real concern about the integrity of the casing.”  If you take your garden hose and put your hand over it, you have a metaphor for what bp is trying to do.  The problem with that is, in a word, pressure, and if the integrity of the hose is poor, than the pressure applied by your hand could cause a rupture in the “casing” of the hose and cause leaks wherever the hose is weakest.  Thus, we could have oil spilling into the waters of the Gulf of Mexico for decades to come, or for however long that well produces oil.  When you take a look at the image above, it might bring your blood to a boil.  It does mine.  May this bring the attention it needs to the President who can, and should, stop the 33 deep water wells from continuing to operate until the blowout preventers, at the very least, are checked out and deemed safe.  For experts have now concluded that the blowout preventer that caused this “accident” have a 45 percent chance of “blowing up”, a 45 percent chance!  Who gave these oil companies the right to play GOD with our sea creatures, our people and our shore lines?  WHO?!  GOD’S SPEED to the GULF, all of the SEA TURTLES, DOLPHINS, WHALES, BROWN PELICANS and marsh lands therein…may that miracle happen yesterday. Have a wonderful day folks!  Peace~M

Baby Steps

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 8:20 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket!  After receiving some much needed rain last night, I awoke and drove to Dowses Beach and East Bay where my little sailboat, “Ti amo”, is moored. I was happy to see my Osprey on the top of her mast chirping away into the morning mist–music never sounded any better… The talk in Washington yesterday was the surprising positions a few select republicans took in regard to the final passage of financial reform, perhaps the most comprehensive financial reform in generations.  Although most critics agree that it does not go nearly far enough, at least it is a step in the right direction.  The issue of derivatives and how they are traded and to what volume is still a real problem, for it keeps alive the whole “casino” like atmosphere on Wall Street with big banks still taking risks for their benefit– with you, me and the rest of the tax payers in this country taking all of the risk should those “credit default swaps” go bad.  The other point to keep in mind is the fact that big banks account for 63 percent of the GDP, quite the leverage muscle to use with our favorite party, the p.o.h.n., an acronym for “the party of hell no!”  The fact that the extension of unemployment benefits has been held up by yet another filibuster is evidence of just how out-of-touch the p.o.h.n. really is with, and I quote McConnell, Boehner, Barton, Bachman, Cantor, and Gregg when we all say, “the American people.”  I would ask Mr. Mitch, “the mouse”, McConnell (R-KY) when he stands up on the floor of the Senate and argues again for not extending unemployment benefits to millions of Americans who, (for every five people looking for a job, there is only one available) could not be in a worse position; what his chief goal of being such an inhuman, cold, callous man really is…but I would be met with the same answer he gives everyone, no (comment).  How can a group of “men” and women, all in “good conscience”, (when they all know WHY the economy is in the shape it’s in, why there are no jobs because the previous administration destroyed manufacturing and employment in this country via laissez faire economics and outsourcing, with its partner the WTO), do this to it’s own citizens?  Why in God’s green earth would you deny these fellow countrymen of yours the misley pittance of unemployment, when it not only keeps those Americans from going hungry, but serves to keep the local economies alive in the way of local spending on items such as coffee or milk or juice…all for the deficit?  The same deficit that you had no problem with, as “ya’ll” were busy signing into law the two of the largest tax breaks for the wealthy in U.S. history, a prescription drug bill, and two unfunded wars all with that exact word as a common denominator–unfunded to the tune of trillions of dollars.  And you Mr. mouse, have an ethical problem with that, a problem that amounts to less than 1 percent of the current deficit.  It is really unbelievable.  You truly might want to google your soul, because I think it’s up for sale on Ebay.  From the puppets to the puppeteers, bp is attempting to place a “stack cap” on the well head that once was attached to the “Deep Water Horizon” in the Gulf of Mexico.  Thus far, real estimates on the amount of the toxic dispersant (Corexit 3500) that has been “placed” underneath the surface and on the water above the surface (in order to keep everyone in the dark as to how much oil “spilled”, for the dispersant merely breaks up the oil, pushing it into the deep water columns depleting them of oxygen, all for the purpose of limiting their liability and hence, their overall loss) is close to the level of oil spilling out which is now estimated at 200 million gallons!  That means that 2.5 million gallons daily of that highly toxic, banned substance (U.K.) has been put onto and into our waters since April 12, something that the whole world will deal with over the long haul.  Speaking of the long haul, psychologically, Dr. Corey Herbert, WDSU medical director, said yesterday on Olberman, “PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) is now rampant.  As these good fisherman, and the industries that live off of that industry, go off a cliff financially, the psychological effects on these communities is dire.  People are losing their homes, their way of life for generations, their towns, their hope.”  Like a mobile that you hang in a baby’s room, (touching one side of the mobile effects the whole dynamic of said mobile) the oil “spill” has bumped a whole chunk of our country, and we are now seeing the effects on good citizens who were merely bystanders in the way of big oil and their big profits.  There will be a free health clinic in New Orleans on August 30th, 2010 for two days, as announced by Mr. Keith Olberman, but I am afraid the bayou needs much more than that.  It needs leaders who care more for the people than the damn profits.  These people are psychologically worn out–from Hurricane Katrina only a few years ago, to this new storm that will not wash away, but will leave an indelible mark on the landscape, the people, the animals and the wet lands of the great Gulf region.  I pity the p.o.h.n. for they truly know, “not what they do.”  GOD’S SPEED to the GULF, all of the people, SEA TURTLES, DOLPHINS, WHALES, BROWN PELICANS and marshlands therein…may that miracle happen this week! Have a nice Wednesday folks!  Peace~M

Sea Light

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 6:54 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket!  I hope you are doing well this morning wherever you might be finding yourself, as the waters of East Bay this morning were alive with the birds waking up and having breakfast.  One bird in particular, an Osprey, my favorite “ocean bird of prey”, was sitting atop my boat, “Ti amo”, more specifically atop my mast once again this morning, gaining that 360 degree view that all Osprey desire, especially when building their large “round sticks” called nests that are normally located on either a wooden platform that is built by other bird lovers, or, as here in Osterville, atop a private house or tower, where they have a clear view of any predators that may harm their young, young who are just now learning how to fly…  I wish we could say the same for members of congress.  The fact that the p.o.h.n. is holding up unemployment benefits to millions of struggling Americans is unconscionable.  The jobs that so many in this country had, simply vanished due to the globalization of the American economy, serving the wealthy corporations that made the move, but destroying our middle class and sweeping the poor of this nation under the rug.  The irony here is that as the p.o.h.n. cries “deficit!” when speaking of spending (especially the whopping 1 percent we are talking about here for extending unemployment benefits), they had, and still have, no problem with the still unfunded war of Afghanistan and the “draw down” of troops in Iraq.  Those two unfunded wars, thus far, have cost the “American people” over 3 trillion dollars and with a military budget that dwarfs all of the other defense budgets of every other advanced country combined, keeping our troops in places like Japan or Germany for no real reason, while our own population goes hungry, makes no sense whatsoever…unless you are a member of the p.o.h.n..  Passing the bill that has already passed the house, extending the unemployment benefits to those 2 million people currently looking for a job that another 5 people are already looking for, is the very least we can do to a population who has been literally fleeced by a group of greedy men (and women) who are lacking a conscience.  I keep returning to the comment made by George Will, the celebrated ‘pundit’ on the ABC Sunday talk show called, “This Week”, with Christine Amanpour, the new host of that venerated show.  On Sunday, Mr. Will, a baseball expert, spoke of “snake oil” and revealed his anger and resentment towards President Obama.  His contention that Obama was the real snake oil salesmen, reasoned because he failed to keep that unemployment number at 8 percent or lower due to the passing of George W. Bush’s bailout of big banks (the “stimulus”), and that his comments towards the ‘grand old party of hell no’ were out of line–for those folks would never sell you snake oil in the form of a war that cost the nation over 4000 American lives and 2 trillion dollars in treasure, much of it going by the way of fraud and shady business deals to the coffers of Cheney’s Halliburton– no, those folks are on the up and up…they are Evangelical “true Christian”, right wing, upstanding members of society, who have nothing but the best in mind for their constituents and the “American people”, that are so often embodied into their long winded, non-sensical speeches that do nothing, save stroke their fragile, caveman like egos. Ask yourself one simple question, “what does Mitch, “the mouse”, McConnell (R-KY) and leader of the “minority” in the Senate, have in common with the average American person?  I would have so much more respect for the p.o.h.n. if they took off their masks and were real men about it–coming right out and telling “the American people” that they care nothing for the environment, the people who are suffering in the Gulf region right now, the millions of Americans who don’t know where they are going to get the money for breakfast this morning, let alone how they are going to pay their mortgage, or get a job that doesn’t exist, or pay for health care premiums to a company who will drop them as soon as they get sick, or the fact that they care even less about the environment that we are burning up daily with fossil fuels, natural gas and coal fired plants, turning the world as we know it, into a stagnant, poisoned plane where nothing can live because we destroyed the homes for the most basic blocks of our food chain.  Yes, that would be a breath of fresh air!  The Sarah, “mama grizzlies for blowing away timber wolves via a thirty odd six from a helicopter” Palin’s of the world are now the norm, and for the republican strategists like Frank Luntz and rest of the wolves over at word doctors.com, I say to you, congratulations!  You have created the monster that might just take down what is left of this great country of ours, a country that was created from the desire to get away from the tyranny imposed by a brutal, although by an historical perspective was not as brutal as some, King (King George of England)–a king, that the p.o.h.n. is trying to bring back, a corporate king that has no face, no heart and no soul–current fitting for the Burger King costume is scheduled for Mr. Boehner’s office soon…  GOD’S SPEED to the GULF, and all of the people, SEA TURTLES, DOLPHINS, WHALES, BROWN PELICANS and marsh lands therein… may that miracle happen this week! Have a nice day everybody!  Peace~M

You’ve got Cape Mail!

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 8:11 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket!  A much cooler morning here on Cape, as I just returned from Nantucket Sound here in Osterville, sipping some coffee and looking out onto the pristine waters that grace this beautiful region of the country.  The summer is just getting started so get your bathing suits and come on down!  We’ll leave the Light on for ya!  The Sunday talk show offered the same “stories of the week” featuring Obama turning up the heat on the p.o.h.n., but with the daunting task of fixing the leak in the Gulf, the unemployment numbers, a fragile economy, and Afghanistan, the President’s statement may have had a difficult time translating his central message–that this country is far better off than it was 8 years ago.  I have said before and I will say it again, 10 years is not that long a period of “time” from an historical perspective.  The republicans have done a great job in discouraging anyone from looking back even 2 years ago, using that tired old cliche, talking point number 8977, “blame it on Bush,” and we will thank you very much.  David Axelrod, the Senior White House adviser, said, “our job is to get people back to work, and get this economy moving forward.”  He reinforced what the President said a few days ago, “people have to ask themselves, do they want to move forward, or do they want to go back to the dark years of Bush/Cheney?”  Having inherited the worst economy since the Great Depression, and the fact that he is dealing with an unreasonable “party” whose chief goal is to regain power and to hell with the “small” people and anyone else who tries to get in their way, don’t forget about those “second amendment remedies” that the p.o.h.n. likes to threaten people with, Obama has had perhaps the toughest first two years a President has ever had in this country.  This is no more “Obama’s economy” than it is Obama’s war in Afghanistan.  The p.o.h.n. has no real solutions, no concrete plan to create jobs that have been permanently sent overseas by the corporations that control them, bringing back prosperity to the middle class and the U.S., as a whole, an impossibility.  That the premise offered up by Sarah, “mama grizzly-proud to shoot wolves from a helicopter”, Palin and her new polished Hollywood ad designed to offer nothing in the way of substance, but with plenty of hors#$t, will win over those poor souls with no outlet to the truth behind the mirage of the madness of the p.o.h.n., is a distinct possibility.  The reason why this country is in the state it is in boils down to one word–responsibility.  Does anyone in their right mind really believe that the p.o.h.n. will suddenly have an epiphany, wake up and demand that we as a nation stand up to the bullies (in the form of big oil, big banks, big coal, big natural gas, big insurance and big businesses of any kind), and demand that they, if they wish to do business in the United States, adhere to some simple and fair regulations that keep those businesses honest, barring them from raping and pillaging our countrymen, our natural treasures and our bank accounts?  Small business does not seem to have a chance in this country, as the path to globalization is paved with the largest corporations who, like a shark, are only interested in feeding, growing and repeating that cycle mindlessly, as another coastline is threatened with a deep brown sludge, choking off our food chain and wildlife sanctuaries, the building blocks of Life on planet earth.  Just ask the reporter who gave a brief but powerful report on the “cleanup efforts” by bp, and the heroic ones of some independent folks who saved 5 little sea turtles from certain death on NBC’s nightly news last night with Lester Holt.  I am sorry I cannot remember his name, but I want to thank you for that story, it made my week end…  The main goal of the p.o.h.n. and more importantly, it’s corporate puppeteers, is to create a true “plutocracy”, or rule by the wealthy, and as it is already happening, slowly as to not cause that much panic, as you will continue to see that great rift grow in this country of ours–where the facts have been so muddied, most citizens have no idea what to believe, think, or do.  Take a trip out to Arizona and visit racial profiling at its best, and as you ponder the validity and wisdom of a racial profiling law that will be going into effect soon in that great state, consider this, it is not just the White House that has them in court, 7 other law suits are forthcoming.  Jan Brewer, the Governor of that state, is one of the proponents of this bill, as she has championed it since her corporate handlers wrote it, and had this to say regarding “illegals” and their intentions when crossing over into the United States.  “The majority of illegals coming over the border, not to work, but to sell drugs, to extort our citizens, that’s the truth man!”  On ‘This Week’ on ABC,  Brian Bilbray (R-CA) actually refuted that claim, but offered some explanation, by saying on national television, “the majority of illegals are not actively engaged in the drug trafficking business, the difference is the perception, of those of us on the border, like myself who grew up down there, and somebody whose up on the northern border, like Chicago, see this differently.  She is seeing this, the fact that she is seeing crime, she is seeing that her capital is becoming the kidnap capital of the world…”  then, the interviewer interrupted the congressman with, “that is not true”…  (you know, the truth)…  Bilbray continued, “well, that’s not true, OK, ah, er, not in the world, but certainly at least in the United States, ah, has gone out of control”…(see the truth trip up the lie)…  The truth is 40 percent of the estimated 12 million “illegals” in this country came here legally.  They came on a tourist visa, a student visa, or a temporary worker visa, and they overstayed their visa.  According to Luis Gutierez (D-IL) a leading spokesperson for the Latino population in this country, says this, “So what we do is continue to focus on the border, as though that were the exclusive problem with our immigration system, it is not.  We are willing to work with you on these issues.”  Unfortunately for Mr. Gutierez and the human beings who have now lived here for 10 sometimes, 20 years, (who have children that were born here), their words fall on deaf ears–what do we do with them?  Send their mothers back to Mexico and leave the kids here?  That’s why it is called “comprehensive” immigration reform.  Not just men with guns on an already porous border.  George Will, baseball expert, offered us his vintage conservative opinion on Obama’s claim that the p.o.h.n. is just “selling you some more snake oil,” a valid claim on any truth scale.  Like an angry junior high school-er, George launched into a tirade about how, because Obama claimed that, “with the stimulus, the unemployment numbers would be around 8 percent,” when we all know that no one had any idea what the economy in this country let alone the world would do after that monumental collapse on Wall Street, it was Obama who was selling the snake oil to the “American people”…  Snake oil George?  The real snake oil salesmen already left the building–Dick Cheney and his sidekick George W. Bush, who were busy at work during the 00’s selling the “American people” down the river–deregulating industries so that those same corporations could continue to fleece the citizens, the middle class and the poor, of this great country of ours.  It was the snake oil salesmen of the Iraq War and the LIE about why we went there to begin with, that define the cliche of what a snake oil salesmen really is…selling you something that is not what it claims to be, or what you need, or that IT WORKS!  Right George?  You need more?  OK, what about the “war on terror” and the fact that it is suspect for a myriad of reasons, but the main one being that we are still in Afghanistan 9 years later after we were sold the snake oil that we must, “kill Osama Bin Laden’, at all costs, and, for many, it was truly “at all costs”, and rid the world of the evil, Al Qaida.  This “war on terror” is suspect BECAUSE it never accomplished a damn thing in Afghanistan–for we are not safer as a nation because we went to “war” with a country from the 4th century, nor have we stopped global terrorism, for it (terrorism) needs no country to operate in.  That all of our “government in a box” will not make these people interested in going to the mall, purchasing some Adidas tennis shoes and catching the movie, “Despicable Me,” starring our good friend Steve Carell.  No, for eight long years this country got it’s daily dose of snake oil from the “authority figures” who were nothing more than common thugs who used the bully pulpit with and iron fist, plenty of that snake oil and a commonly used method for centuries now, FEAR, (have you checked the color code of the terror alert system recently, well, have you?), and finally adding a special emphasis on BULLY.  What’s the matter George, does the truth sting?  GOD’S SPEED to the GULF–all of the people, SEA TURTLES, DOLPHINS, WHALES, BROWN PELICANS and marsh lands therein…may your miracle happen this week! Have a wonderful day folks!  Peace~M
